Say; “If truly there were deities other than Allah, then those deities would look for ways to reach Allah (the Owner of the Throne).”
Tafsir
Allah (swt) is trying to explain to people that there is no other deity besides Himself through parables and examples. If there were another deity other than Allah, the other deities would seek ways to reach Allah, the owner of the Throne. In other words, they wanted to destroy it and take away Allah's sovereignty in order to assert their own will and become absolute rulers and mighty.
Allah (swt) says that this world is the shadow and likeness of the Hereafter. Accordingly, in this world, the powerful states fight to subjugate the weak, to take them under their sovereignty and to make them do what they say. Or people even fight with each other to impose their will on others by creating disagreements between them. If only there was another God along with Allah. They would also seek ways to reach Allah and would fight to establish their rule. This order established by Allah would have fallen apart and all hell would have broken loose.
Since there is no such thing, the heavens and the earth and all that is between them remain in their places. Since the time of our ancestor Adam, the same God and the one and only Allah has been addressing the universe. Since there is no other deity other than Him to call out to mankind immortally, Allah (swt) has proved to mankind in this way that there is no deity other than Allah (swt), the Creator of the worlds and there is no other deity other than Him (swt).
What is said in the video
In verse forty-two: if, as they say, there were another god besides Allah, if there were another god besides Allah, then these gods would seek ways to reach Allah, the Owner of the Throne. Yes, we have explained this part to you, verse forty-two. Allah Almighty, bringing encouragements and examples, is trying to explain to people that there is not even one other god besides Himself.
Allah Almighty, bringing similes and examples, is trying to explain to people that there is no other god besides Himself. If there were another god besides Allah, the other gods would seek ways to Allah, the Owner of the Throne, to reach Him. That is, to destroy Him and assert their own will, to be the absolute ruler and possessor of power, they would want to take Allah's sovereignty from His hands. Allah Almighty declares that this world is the likeness and shadow of the realm of the hereafter. Before explaining this, first: Allah Almighty, regarding this word I have said, states a verse. If there had been another god besides Allah, that one would take what it created and the other what it created, and everything would be drowned in corruption, He says.
Allah Almighty declares that this world is the likeness and shadow of the realm of the hereafter. Accordingly, in this worldly realm, powerful states fight to subjugate the weak, to bring them under their dominion and to make them do what they say. Or people, to make others accept what they say, stir up disputes among themselves and even fight one another. So if there were another god together with Allah, these too would seek ways to reach Allah and would fight to assert their own sovereignty. This order that Allah has set up would fall into chaos and the Last Day would break out.
Since there is no such thing, the heavens and the earth and what is between the two remain in their place. Since our forefather Adam, the same God, the one Allah, has been addressing the universe. Since another god besides Him arising and calling to people as immortal has not happened, that besides Allah, who created the worlds and besides whom there is no other god, there is no god at all, Allah Almighty has in this way also proven to people.
