Maryam 14: He treated his parents well. He was not a rebellious oppressor.

Translation
He treated his parents well. He was not a rebellious oppressor.
Tafsir
Because of the softness and purity of heart in Hazrat Yahya's nature, his obedience to Allah (swt) and his love for Allah (swt), he used to hold fast to the Ayat of Allah (swt). Allah praised Yahya and elevated him in His Essence because he did what was pleasing to Allah (swt).
One of the qualities that Allah (swt) likes is good behavior towards one's parents. Allah (swt) says in the Sûrah of Lokman, "Shall I tell you about the great sins?" (Obey me first and then obey your parents).
So whoever disobeys Allah and associates Allah's creatures with Allah and rebels against his parents and passes on to the Hereafter in this state, all the good deeds he did in this world have been in vain. He has bought the torment of eternal Hell in the Hereafter, deprived of Allah's mercy. Allah praises Hadrat Yahya 'alaihis-salâm' by saying, "He treated his parents very well, he was not a rebellious tyrant".
What is said in the video
In verse 14: He was very good to his parents. He was not a rebellious tyrant, it says.
Because of the tenderness of heart and purity in John's nature, his obedience to Allah Almighty and the love and affection he held, he clung tightly to Allah Almighty's verses. By practising the qualities that would please Allah Almighty, Allah praised John, and he rose in His presence. One of the qualities that would please Allah Almighty is treating mother and father well.
So, is this a requirement?
Yes, it is a requirement. According to what? In Surah Luqman, Allah Almighty has one obey: first Me, then your mother and your father. It is a verse. A verse. In this case, people who disobey their mother and father are tyrants.
Have you ever disobeyed? you might ask. It comes to your mind. My father died when I was nine years old. On that side I bear no responsibility. I had not reached the age of reason.
But I was never tyrannical to my dear mother.
Even if she insulted me, I would kiss her cheeks. I would say: you are right.
She would say exactly this to me: "When I see you, I came into a world (?) open on top, what would I say," she would say.
When she was in hospital she had cancer, breast cancer. She was in Okmeydanı Hospital. Every night special food was taken from home. One night she asked me for yogurt. In the middle of the night. I went all over Istanbul, thinking I would find yogurt at its restaurants and bring it.
and finally, after her death, there are also those who saw, about me, "He has been freed of his debt to his mother"; her body I had placed on the funeral stone of Şişli Mosque, and around it, like this: not people of this world, they say, clearly, they say, from their state, we hear a gentle voice, they say: "The hajji has been freed of his debt to his mother." Yes. So never complain about your mother and father. Kiss their cheeks too. Even if they insult you, treat them well.
But if they push you toward evil, push you toward irreligion, from them, with goodwill, there is a parting. Yes.
He was very good to his parents. He was not a rebellious tyrant. Because of the tenderness of heart and purity in John's nature, his obedience to Allah Almighty, and the love and affection he held, to Allah Almighty's verses he clings tightly. By practising the qualities that would please Allah Almighty, Allah praised John and raised him to His presence. One of the qualities that would please Allah Almighty is treating mother and father well. In Surah Luqman, Allah Almighty says: Shall I inform you of the major sins? First obey Me, then your mother and father. Yes.
Whoever does not obey Allah, sets up Allah's creations as partners to Allah, and as a person rebels against his mother and father, and passes to the hereafter in this state: all the good deeds this person did in the world have gone to waste. This person, being deprived of Allah's mercy in the hereafter, has bought the torment of eternal Hell for himself. So Allah says about John: he treats his parents very well, he is not a rebellious tyrant, and thereby praises John (peace be upon him). Now a phrase occurs here, pay attention to it. Your mind may get confused here. Let's explain this part. Whoever does not obey Allah, sets up Allah's creations as partners to Allah, and as a person rebels against his mother and father, if he passes to the hereafter in this state, all those deeds this person did in the world have gone to waste, we say.
A question like this may come to our minds: Well, I disobeyed my mother and father, one says. I treated them cruelly. Am I now, he says, destined for eternal Hell? It comes to your mind. Pay attention. We say: sets up Allah's creations as partners to Allah. Who are these? The polytheists. Then we continue. Within this, someone who has disobeyed mother and father: our Lord, with His attribute of justice, weighs our good deeds and sins. Wrongs and tyranny done to mother and father: let's say you did a good deed; in return for your good deed, Allah Almighty somewhat raised your rewards. But when you did wrong to mother and father, it took away many of those raised rewards.
Many of them. What is this like?
You have a piece of iron. You have a one-kilo piece of iron. You have a kilo of aluminium. You have a kilo of copper. You have a kilo of gold.
Now everyone has one kilo each, but gold's value is greater. Likewise here, the sin's value is greater. The value of a sin committed against mother and father is greater. Perhaps it carries a sin above the value of your totals.
I don't know if I can get this across?
Yes.
So whoever does not obey Allah, sets up Allah's creations as partners to Allah, and as a person rebels against his mother and father, and passes to the hereafter in this state, this person's good deeds done in the world have all gone to waste. These are disbelievers. On the other hand, if one has only disobeyed mother and father and been tyrannical and goes to the hereafter (?), while serving his punishment or, if his good deeds are very many, without entering punishment, to the hereafter he passes. Our Lord is just, loves forgiveness, is the Owner of pardon and forgiveness. Everyone, in the period of ignorance, in the period of ignorance, has made mistakes. Mistakes.
How shall we take refuge in our Lord from the mistakes committed in the period of ignorance?
Listen well.
The learned one clings to the verses and finds salvation, he says. The learned one clings to the verses and finds salvation, he says. And for the mistakes you made in the period of ignorance, to this verse he clings: My Allah, You did not create us free of error. If You had created us free of error, You would destroy us and create servants who make mistakes. Forgive me, my Allah, for the sins I committed in the period of ignorance. For the sake of this verse's honour I have opened my heart to You, I have opened my palms to You, I have no other door to go to but Yours. When you say, "Forgive me, my Allah," there is no sin Allah will not forgive. Perhaps for your sake He will erase your father's sins too, and to him a reward (?). With that reward, your life will be within you (?).
Yes. Cling to the verses.
Give it here.
yes
this (?) being deprived of Allah's mercy in the hereafter, has bought the torment of eternal Hell for himself. So Allah says about John: he treats his parents very well. He is not a rebellious tyrant. By saying this, He praises John (peace be upon him).
