At one time, he said to his father; “Oh my dear father. Why do you worship something that cannot hear or see and that cannot benefit you?”
Tafsir
Even as a child, Prophet Abraham knew that Allah is one, that objects made with hands cannot be gods, and accordingly he was always wholeheartedly devoted to the one and only Allah, and he used to address his father as follows: (Why do you worship something that does not hear, does not see, and does not benefit you in any way?) These have neither mouth nor tongue nor any benefit for themselves. These are objects created by Allah. Allah is the One who is kind and merciful to His creatures, bringing them out of darkness into light, providing for their needs, and teaching them what they do not know. Allah is the Possessor of knowledge. He is merciful and gracious. Eternity and eternity.
What is said in the video
Surah Maryam, verse 42; in the 42nd verse Allah Almighty says: Once he said to his father, Abraham (peace be upon him) said to his father: My dear father, something that does not hear, does not see and brings you no benefit at all, why do you worship it? Indeed. You made it with your own hands. You shaped it. You go before it saying "my Lord", you stand in reverence before it. You bring it food. You buy it this and that. What does it perceive? What does it see? What does it hear? How can you obey this?
A person has a mind. For the idolaters. Yes. Since Abraham, even as a child, was a prophet who knew that Allah is One, that objects made by hands cannot be gods, and who accordingly always bound himself from the heart to the One Allah, he would address his father like this: Why do you worship something that does not hear, does not see and brings you no benefit at all? These have neither mouth nor tongue, nor any benefit to themselves. These too are objects created by Allah. Allah is He who treats the beings He created with compassion and mercy, who brings them out of darkness into light, meets their needs, teaches them what they do not know.
Allah is the possessor of knowledge. He is Ar-Rahman and Ar-Rahim, without beginning and without end. Yes. If a person goes and takes what he made with his own hands, what he (?), what he himself imagined, and puts it there as his Lord and worships it, tomorrow, on the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will call the idols they worshipped. When He says, "Did you say I am your Lord?", they will speak: We did not even know of ourselves. Nor do we know what they did to us, they will say, and abandon them there, move away and leave. Yes.
A person must be of sound mind.
