(Abraham) said; “Peace be upon you. I will ask for forgiveness for you from my Lord. Verily, Allah is Gracious towards me.”
Tafsir
When Hazrat Abraham realized that he had nothing left to do to his father Azer if his father, the idolater Azer, did not turn towards the Truth and preferred the falsehood, Hazrat Abraham acted compassionately and mercifully towards his father and said, "O my father! Peace be upon you. Hazrat Ibrahim also did not compromise against the idolaters. He took his place on the side of Allah. Hazrat Ibrahim addressed his father as follows; O my father! I will ask forgiveness from my Lord for you, that is, I will ask for your forgiveness, praying to Allah that you may find the right path.
Hadrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm' loved Allah very much. In return for this love, Allah elevated him and gave him a title and fame. He made Hazrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm' to be remembered among the worlds. It was on the basis of this love that Allah loved him that Hazrat Ibrahim said, "Allah is very gracious to me, that is, He answers my prayers and does not turn me away.
What is said in the video
Abraham's being gentle and good-natured, being very merciful, being very compassionate toward people too – now look at the proof of it here: what does he say to his father? Abraham said, "Peace be upon you, fare you well." It really makes one weep. His father rebels, and he wishes mercy for him: peace be upon you, fare you well. He said, "I will ask my Lord to forgive you."
Here he makes a mistake.
Because he loved his father very much. But Allah Almighty warns him afterwards. "For He is very gracious to me," he says.
After Abraham had conveyed the command of prophethood and the word of truth to his father, when his father, the idolater Azar, did not turn to the truth but chose falsehood, Abraham (peace be upon him), realizing there was nothing left for him to do for his father Azar, said to his father (?), "O my father, fare you well." Abraham too made no concessions to the idolaters. He took his place on Allah's side. Abraham addressed his father as follows. "O my father, I will ask my Lord to forgive you." That is, "I will pray to Allah for you to find the right path and ask for your forgiveness," he said. Abraham (peace be upon him) loved Allah very much.
And in return for this love of Abraham, Allah raised him up and gave him (?) and fame. He caused Abraham (peace be upon him) to be remembered among the worlds. So Abraham, relying on this love with which Allah loved him, said, "Allah is very gracious to me." That is, "He answers my prayers and does not turn me away," he said. He said. Later he realizes he was mistaken. He will regret it. We are not explaining that here. Because then we would be explaining the verses all in one place. We explain verse by verse, within the verses. In this case, in the verse after it too
