Translation

(Oh My Messenger!) And mention Ismaeel in the Book. Verily, he was truthful in his word, and he was a Prophet and a Messenger.

Tafsir

When Allah says, "Remember Ishmael" in the Book, it is a reminder to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), as we have explained in the forty-first verse of Surah Maryam, in return for the verses being sent by Allah through revelation. Because Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is alive.

Hadrat Ismail was the son of Hadrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him). He is both a Messenger and a Prophet. Since Hazrat Ismail had very good moral qualities, Allah (swt) has narrated the good qualities of these Prophets in order to glorify their glory and to show them as an example to people, showing their loyalty to Allah (swt) even though they were human beings.

When Hazrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm' took Hazrat Ismail to the slaughter to sacrifice him in accordance with the dream he had and the covenant he had made with Allah (swt), he said to his father, 'You will surely find me obedient. This story is narrated in verse one hundred and twenty-four of Surah Al-Baqarah. For more information, it is useful to refer to the Qur'anic verse in Surah Al-Baqarah.

What is said in the video

Surah Maryam, verse 54 My Messenger, mention Ishmael too in the Book. Indeed he was true to his word. He was a Rasul and a Nabi. Allah Almighty, by saying "mention Ishmael too in the Book": in return for the verses being sent by Allah through revelation, His saying Prophet Ishmael too, mention Prophet Ishmael too, is, as in Surah Maryam, verse 41, as we explained, for the Prophet (peace be upon him) a reminder. Because the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the tongue. He understands that too, you see, the tongue. At the same time He sends the verses. With His verses, well, He both says "mention", and that he knew the verses before too; in which verse does He tell us?

When Allah Almighty sent down the Quran from the Preserved Tablet to the region called Qadr, what does He say to the Prophet? You did not expect that the Quran, that is, this Book, would be given to you, He says. So he knows the Book. He knows it in the hereafter.

Prophet Ishmael is Prophet Abraham's (peace be upon him) son. He is both a Rasul and a Nabi. Since Prophet Ishmael had very beautiful moral virtues, Allah Almighty, to exalt their renown and show them to people as an example, has these prophets' beautiful virtues recounted; it consists in their showing, despite being human, their loyalty to Allah Almighty.

When Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him), upon the dream he saw and the pledge he gave Allah Almighty, took Prophet Ishmael to slaughter him as a sacrifice, he said to his father: You will surely find me truly obedient. This story is told in Surah Al-Baqarah, at verse 124. For more information, referring to the verse in Surah Al-Baqarah is useful, we say. Because if we retell the verses, what was explained in the past, again, it would be heaps upon heaps. Whereas we explained it there; go to it. In this verse, this much; the verse has more behind it too. You know, when I say that's all, is that all?

There are such questions here, here. If you were to ask these questions, heaps upon heaps of words would come out, I mean. The verses cannot be confined.
