Translation
And mention the Prophet Enoch (Idris) in the Book. Verily, he was truthful, and he was a Prophet.
Tafsir
Allah (swt) shows the good qualities of His Prophets as an example to people. The reason for this was so that the people would obey Allah by adopting good morals. The mention of Idris 'alaihis-salâm' in this verse shows that he was sincere towards Allah, and with the knowledge that Allah had bestowed upon him, he used to sew and wear clothes while his people wore animal skins. He is the pir of tailors.
He would command his people to pray, he would tell them to be obedient to Allah, he would tell them the divine commands and invite them to Allah.
What is said in the video
In verse 56 of Surah Maryam it says: and mention Idris, too, in the Book. He was a prophet. Now all of them tell people the revelation Allah Almighty gave, that He put into their hearts. What is this? We call this a Rasul or a prophet, don't we? We call a Rasul a prophet. And we call a nabi a prophet too. What is the duty of a prophet? To tell people Allah's commands. Right? Yes. In this case Allah Almighty shows the fine qualities of His prophets to people as an example. That is, Ishmael too was a human being; look, he spoke like this. Idris (peace be upon him) was like this too; look, he was human, he did this.
Moses too was a human being; he did this. So, well, if they are human, we are human too. If they have a particle of our Lord, we too have a particle. So what difference is there between them and us, or us and them? There is only one difference. Those created first from the light of the Prophet, since they were created first, made a covenant with Allah Almighty and He bore witness to them, that is all. His sending them to their peoples as messengers, and besides sending them as messengers, the souls of their peoples being created from them. In that case these prophets are in the position of the elders and fathers of those peoples.
Of course they also have a mind and intelligence above that of their people. Yes.
The reason for this was that people too, adorning themselves with good morals, would obey Allah; that is why. That this verse mentions Idris (peace be upon him) shows that toward Allah he was sincere; with the knowledge Allah had granted him, the truth — while his people wore animal skins, he himself would sew clothes and wear them. He is the patron of tailors. He enjoined prayer on his people. He told them to be obedient to Allah. He told his people the divine commands. He would invite them to Allah. It says Idris the nabi is the garment cutter. You know his story, but let me tell you here a story of Idris the nabi.
They tell it like this.
One of the angels — this one, they say, is the guardian of paradise, Ridwan. He says to Allah Almighty: O my Lord, this servant of Yours, Idris, has received much praise. Permit me to seek him out and show him around paradise, he says.
All right, He says (?). Go, take him and bring him. He comes. He knocks on the door of Idris (peace be upon him). In human form. Well, his wife of course opens the door. He says: I am to meet Idris (peace be upon him). Idris (peace be upon him) comes. He says: you and I are going on a trip, he says. Where to, brother, he says? A journey, he says. Paradise — he introduces himself. His wife, the wife of Idris (peace be upon him), not wanting to let Idris (peace be upon him) go, he gives his word to the wife. The angel says: madam, your husband I will bring right back and hand him over to you, he says.
Thereupon they go to the highest paradise. While he is showing him around there, the decree of the Truth comes to pass. The angel of death comes. Azrael (peace be upon him) is to take the soul of Idris (peace be upon him). At once Ridwan jumps in: You can't take it. I (?) from my Lord. After I take him to his wife and hand him over, do what you will. Among us, he says, (?). I gave my word, he says.
In particular he says: I too, as one charged with a duty by my Lord, he says, once his time is up, I hold it back not a moment, nor bring it forward a moment, he says. I take his soul, he says. He takes his soul. As he is still falling to the ground, Ridwan too says to Allah Almighty: O my Lord, my trust (?), he says. Then let him do whatever he will, he says. And Allah Almighty says to Azrael (peace be upon him): return the soul. While Ridwan (peace be upon him), I mean Idris (peace be upon him), is still falling to the ground, he gets up. Come on then, brother, he says. I will hand you over to your wife, he says.
I won't go, he says. How can you not go? I pleaded with Allah. You died. Your soul was returned. Let me put it this way: I gave your wife my word. Don't make me a liar. Oh brother, he says. Is death true? he says. It is true, he says. Did I die? he says. I died. Is resurrection true too, he says? It is true. Did I come back to life? He says, I came back to life. Is paradise true too, he says? It is true. And am I in paradise? He says, am I in paradise? Should I leave, he would say. I'm not going, he would say.
Upon this Allah Almighty says: leave him, let him cut robes, that is, let him cut garments; for the angels he would cut garments. There. Alive, that is. Yes. Idris (peace be upon him) has such a story.
That is why he is also the patron of tailors.
