“What is it in your right hand, Oh Moses?”

Tafsir

When Allah (swt) asked Musa 'alaihis-salâm', "What is that in your right hand, O Musa?" did he not know that it was a staff? There is nothing that Allah does not know that He does not know. So when he asked Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' what the staff in his hand was, it was to bring Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' to him.

Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' was in a state of confusion when Allah (swt) spoke to him. Allah (swt) says, "What is that in your hand, O Moses?" in order to bring him back to his senses. Because Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' had made friendship with his staff in the world, he would come to his senses when he remembered it. Our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also established a relationship with Abu Bakr Siddiq. Abu Bakr Siddiq received the title of Siddiq because he confirmed everything the Prophet (SAW) said in the world. When the Prophet (PBUH) was ascending to the miracle, he was in a state of confusion and confusion. In order to bring the Prophet (pbuh) back to himself, Allah (swt) addressed the Prophet (pbuh) in the dialect of Abu Bakr Siddiq, and the Prophet (pbuh), hearing the voice of Abu Bakr Siddiq, came to his senses. We will describe this event in more detail in the events of miraj.

What is said in the video

Now Allah Almighty (?) Moses, to Moses from the manifestations, that is, from His essence, so that he would be sure of His essence, some miracles He will show with His signs. The word ayah here means both word and miracle. One aspect of the ayahs is also miracle. These must be told apart according to the word of Allah Almighty. For example, is it a miracle, or is it an ayah, that is, His word? These change according to the letters. The meanings change according to the letters. Since Allah's word rests on the letters, they say it plainly in Arabic speech. One says "this is the meaning" and moves on.

And in this way Allah is ascribed attributes. Yes.

Surah Ta-Ha, verse 17 says: What is that in your right hand, O Moses?

The staff. Allah Almighty asks Moses (peace be upon him): What is that in your right hand, O Moses? Did He not know that what Moses (peace be upon him) held was a staff? He knows. Then why does He ask? Moses is in a state of bewilderment. He had grown close to his staff. The Prophet too, while ascending on the Mi'raj, in Abu Bakr as-Siddiq's (?) some words he hears. It says: O Muhammad, stop, your Lord is performing salat. When the Prophet hears the voice of Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, he comes to himself. Allah Almighty, he says, has no need to pray, he says. What is this, he says. And when he ascended on the Mi'raj, Allah Almighty says: O Muhammad, that voice you heard, why don't you ask about it?

My Lord, You know better than I, he says.

I have no need to perform salat. My salat is toward all My creatures, He says, that is, giving them their sustenance and giving them life according to the form in which they were created, He says. So that is salat here. That is, as a worship, as a duty. A duty. Not worship, in the sense of a duty. So not everything means the same thing. Here too: what is your staff, He says? Through that closeness, with his staff, He will bring him to himself.

There is nothing Allah does not know, such that He would not know this. So His asking Moses (peace be upon him) what the staff in his hand was, was to bring Moses (peace be upon him) to himself. Faced with the speech of Allah Almighty, Moses (peace be upon him) falls into a state of aras. Aras: the state of bewilderment. To bring Moses (peace be upon him) to himself, Allah Almighty says: What is in your hand, O Moses? Because in the world Moses (peace be upon him) had grown close to his staff. When he remembered it, he would come to himself. Likewise the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had grown close to Abu Bakr as-Siddiq. Since in the world Abu Bakr as-Siddiq confirmed everything the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, he received the title Siddiq.

As the Prophet (peace be upon him) ascended on the Mi'raj, a state of bewilderment and aras came over him. To bring the Prophet (peace be upon him) to himself, Allah Almighty, in Abu Bakr's (?), to the Prophet (peace be upon him) calls out, lets a voice call. And at that moment, hearing the voice of Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, the Prophet (peace be upon him) comes to himself. We said we would tell this event in more detail among the events of the Mi'raj.
