(Moses) said, “My Dear Lord! Expand my chest.”
Tafsir
Pharaoh, the ruler of the people of Egypt at the time, was in a very strong position with his army, so Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' stood against Pharaoh and asked Allah to help him fulfill Allah's command. The first of these is that He willed that Pharaoh's heart should be large, that is, that he should be given courage so that he could convey God's command to him.
What is said in the video
The continuation of the conversation of Moses (peace be upon him) with our Lord is what we are relating. In the verse too: Moses said, my Lord, give my heart breadth. Now, why does Moses ask for breadth for his heart? He grew up in Pharaoh's hands, and in the fight between his people and the Copt, instead of stepping in and separating them with justice, he pushed the Copt; the Copt's head struck a stone, and he died. In that case retaliation would be carried out. He went to Shuayb (peace be upon him). Eight, nine years – eight years he worked with him, and finally he married. So on the way back, on the way back, while going to Egypt with his wife and with the child, he becomes worthy of our Lord's call.
And of course he is wary too: give breadth to my heart. And why else? He is going to go to Pharaoh. Pharaoh is to be called to account; Allah Almighty is giving him a duty. A king of Egypt, a sultan, who had declared himself God – a downright tyrant.
Since Pharaoh, the ruler of the time over the people of Egypt, was with his army in a very strong position, Moses (peace be upon him), to stand against Pharaoh and fulfil Allah's command, makes requests of Allah. The first of these: so that he could convey Allah's command to Pharaoh, he wished that his heart be broad, that is, that he be given courage. Then he lists more, he will list more. What does he say?
