“Vow to that; We had given you blessings one more time before.”
Tafsir
In this verse Allah (swt) wants to remind us how He saved Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) when he was born. In the year of his birth, Pharaoh was killing all the children born to him. This was because the soothsayers told Pharaoh that a son would be born this year and would depose you from your throne. Pharaoh then had all the male children born that year slaughtered.
Allah (swt) inspired the mother of Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' to put Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' in a basket and drop him into the Nile. So his mother swaddled Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm', placed him in a basket and let him go into the Nile. Maryam, the sister of Hadrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm', follows the basket. The basket comes to Pharaoh's garden. Seeing this, the women of Pharaoh's household and our mother Asiya loved the child and asked Pharaoh's permission not to slaughter him.
Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' also grew up in the palace under the tutelage of Allah (swt). In this way, Hazrat Musa is saved from being killed.
Allah (swt) said to Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm', "And certainly, We had favored you once more" to remind him of this event. At the same time, he gave his mother as a wet nurse.
The signs and wonders of Allah (swt) are evident in the fact that He raised Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him), the rival who would eliminate Pharaoh, with Pharaoh's own hands.
Allah (swt) narrated these events to Hazrat Musa (as) in order to increase his courage so that he would not be surprised or afraid when he spoke against Pharaoh.
What is said in the video
Indeed, We had bestowed favor upon you once before, He says to Moses. Now, the wish that Moses had asked of Allah Almighty — Allah Almighty, by saying "We have given it to you": what you asked for was given; now there is an oath. A tremendous "indeed". We had bestowed favor upon you once before. In this verse, Allah Almighty wanted to remind Moses (peace be upon him) how, when he was born, He saved him. What does He do? The astrologers tell Pharaoh: a boy will be born from the Jews, from the people of Israel, and he will seize your throne. Thereupon Pharaoh spares the girls and has the boys killed.
At this time, Moses (peace be upon him) is born. Three nights in a row, Allah Almighty tells Moses's mother in her dream: put the child in a basket and leave it in the Nile. Having seen this dream three times, she puts the child in a basket and leaves it in the Nile, and she tells his sister: follow this basket, your brother. She follows it from one bank of the Nile, and finally the basket arrives at the garden of Pharaoh's palace. There one of Pharaoh's wives finds it, takes it, and thinking "he will surely help us", they adopt him and have him raised in the palace. And while having him raised in the palace, as a child, from the basket they take him. He accepts, you see, no one's breast.
He doesn't eat anything either. Nor does he drink milk. Thereupon Pharaoh has a town crier call out. He is looking for a milk (?) for him. His sibling, his sister, says: I, to you, someone whose milk he will nurse, someone, she says; if you say so — fetch her, he says. So He makes it a favor to his mother. And a milk from that (?). That is, a favor within milk. He nurses at his mother's breast. And then his mother at the same time raises her son there. How beautiful. He reunites her with her son. The wondrous ways of Allah Almighty. No one can stand up against His trap. In this verse, Allah Almighty wanted to remind Moses (peace be upon him) how, when he was born, He saved him.
You know, in the year Moses (peace be upon him) was born, Pharaoh was killing all the children being born. For the astrologers had told Pharaoh: this year a boy will be born and will drive you from your throne. Thereupon Pharaoh had all the boys born that year slaughtered. Allah Almighty, by inspiration, tells the mother of Moses (peace be upon him) to put Moses (peace be upon him) in a basket and leave him in the Nile. Thereupon his mother swaddles Moses (peace be upon him), places him in a basket and leaves him in the river Nile. Miriam, the sister of Moses (peace be upon him), follows the basket.
The basket comes to Pharaoh's garden. Seeing this, the women of Pharaoh's household and our mother Asiya love the child dearly and obtain Pharaoh's permission for him not to be killed.
