Translation

This man has crafted for them the statue of a calf that could bellow. Upon this, they said, “This is your Lord and Moses’ Lord. But forgot.”

Tafsir

One of the people of Hadrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm', who did not believe in the calf made by Samiri, pointed to Samiri and said: "This man invented for them a statue of a calf that can roar. So he said, "This is your God and the God of Moses, but he forgot him".) In this Verse, some commentators explain the Verse (but he forgot it) separately.

The first group says about Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' that he forgot his God.

The second group opens about Samiri saying that Samiri forgot his god. The truth here is that Samiri forgot God, that is, he did not believe in God and turned his back on Him and made a statue of a calf and made the calf roar and said, "This is your god," and the rest of the Israelites, except twelve thousand, worshipped the calf. It is said that the number of the Children of Israel was six hundred thousand. In this situation, all but twelve thousand worshipped the calf. These are the ones who forgot their Lord. The verse below proves this.

What is said in the video

Surah Ta-Ha, verse 88. This man invented for them a calf statue that could low. Thereupon they said: this is your god and the god of Moses. But he forgot it. That is, Moses forgot his god. Yes.

And now we understand much better where the gold was thrown. That is, when Moses went back to his people and warned them, cast Samiri out and the statue (?), they began to believe in Moses again. One of the groups from the people of Moses (peace be upon him) who did not believe in the calf Samiri made, pointing to Samiri: this man invented for them a lowing calf statue. Thereupon, he said, this is your god and the god of Moses, but he forgot it. In this verse some exegetes explain the words "but he forgot it" in different ways. The first group says about Moses (peace be upon him): he forgot his god.

The second group explains it about Samiri: Samiri forgot his god. The correct one here is that Samiri forgot Allah, that is, not believing in Allah and turning his back on Him, and by making people a statue from a calf and glorifying the calf, saying "this is your god", upon which, apart from 12,000 people of the Children of Israel, the others worshipped the calf. The number of the Children of Israel is said to have been 600,000. In this situation, all except 12,000 worshipped the calf. These are the ones who forgot their Lord. The verse below proves this.

Actually, Samiri – Moses', for Moses (?) – forgot god, forgot his god, in that sense; here too the verse "but he forgot it" means (?) his saying "Moses forgot his god", and also their own, that is, forgetting their Lord and again worshipping the calf.
