Say, “I am only warning you with revelations.” But the deaf ones cannot hear this call when they are warned.
Tafsir
Allah (swt) supports His Prophet; Say! I am only warning you by revelation. Revelation is a speech through communication given to the heart of the Prophet (pbuh) by Allah, the One who is exalted beyond time and space. Allah (swt) announces to people that the Prophet (s.a.w.) is a Prophet, that Allah has revealed to His Prophet (s.a.w.) through revelation, so that people can see the Truth.
(But the deaf do not hear this call when they are warned) Deafness here is used figuratively. These are the people who, although they hear the voices, are incapable of comprehending the Truth when they listen to the Truth in the face of the Word of the Truth. These are the people who have denied Allah in the address (Kalu Belaada Elestu bi Rabbikum) and have written their destiny as their fate with this denial. People in this situation are blind to the Truth. Because they swim in all the blessings of Allah. But they cannot perceive and see the existence of Allah.
Their ears are deaf. In the face of so many miracles and events, even though Allah publicly proved His existence to people and announced the Truth to the worlds, these people have turned a deaf ear to the Truth. And these are the deaf.
Their hearts have been sealed in this way, as they will never be able to return to Allah in this state. They have made Allah (swt) seal their hearts according to their own will and desire. Such people are eternal in Hell. Therefore, when they are invited to Allah, these blind and deaf people hear the Truth, but they do not submit to the Truth and accept the invitation.
What is said in the video
Say: I only warn you by revelation. That is, Allah Almighty tells the Prophet (peace be upon him): say. To whom? To people. I only warn you. With what? With revelation. That is: Allah, who created the worlds, our Lord, who is beyond place and time, through the communication He has given to our heart, revealed words, and those I convey to you. He is addressing the idolaters. What does He say? I only warn you by revelation, that is, the command of Allah Almighty, the absolute owner of the worlds, the ruler of all these created beings, I make known to you, I make it known. But the deaf, when they are warned, do not hear this call, He says.
Who are they? The deaf. At the address Elestü bi-Rabbiküm, when they made a covenant with Allah Almighty, they gave their pledge to Allah there as rebels and had their destiny written as disbelievers, that is, as rebels against Allah: those people. Who are they? Hatemallâhu alâ kulûbihim ve alâ sem'ihim ve alâ ebsârihim gışâveh That is, they have eyes, they are blind, a veil is drawn over them. There is heaviness in their ears. They do not hear the word of truth. In this state their hearts are sealed, it says.
When it says their eyes are blind, the disbelievers' eyes are not blind; they are open. Allah Almighty says this in a figurative sense. He says many of His words in a figurative sense. Sometimes He speaks through examples. Sometimes He addresses the Muslims. Sometimes He addresses the believer. Sometimes He addresses people. One has to distinguish these. You cannot put them all in the same scale. For example, when He says yâ eyyühellezîne âmenû, it is to all who have believed; when He says O people, it is to people; among those who believe, when it comes as ya eyyühellezine mü'minat, then to the mü'minat is the address.
Now, those who believe and the mü'minat: the address is different. For example, Allah Almighty says in the verse: tell those believers: Let them cover their heads. Let them draw their headscarves over their collars. Let them cover their adornments. He says this to the believer. Had He said it to those who believe, everyone who uncovers their head today would be a disbeliever, according to this verse. So what are they then? They are sinners. Those who uncover their heads do not fall into kufr, because they have the light of faith. But they become sinners. Yes. You cannot tell someone who uncovers their head: you are a disbeliever.
But you would say: you are a sinner. Yes. So, what I want to say is this: We must listen carefully to the word of Allah, our Lord. Whom is He addressing? Why is He addressing them? Yes. What do you say? But the deaf, when they are warned, do not hear this call. Who are these deaf? Those who gave their pledge to Allah Almighty as rebels. Yes. Allah Almighty is supporting His Prophet here. He supports him. I mean, of all people, did prophethood have to fall, well, to Abu Talib's orphan? If only prophethood had come to one of these two cities, they say. Which are the two cities? From Riyadh, from Mecca, from the rich of those places.
It just had to be a rich man. People's eyes are fixed there. If he is rich, people, out of respect for his wealth, not from the heart, will appear to side with them for the benefit they get from them. Whereas Allah Almighty, by raising someone from below, wants a person to know the truth, to use his reason, to see the truth and believe with the heart. Not to his person, but to the words that come from his mouth, to each of those words lighting people up like light from a lamp: to that a person will lend an ear and use his reason, according to the verse Do you never use your reason? A person, in deed, confessing with the tongue and affirming with the heart, will believe in Allah.
Not because of a person's wealth or his money. Yes.
Allah Almighty is supporting His Prophet. Say: I only warn you by revelation. That is, I say nothing to you of my own accord. If I had said something to you of my own accord, I would have come before you with many words that contradict one another. I am a prophet raised by the Lord Himself, says Allah Almighty, the Prophet. So, complete toward the worlds, deficient toward Allah Almighty, our Lord has sent him as a mercy to the worlds. Ve mâ erselnâke illâ rahmeten li'l-âlemîn. So I say nothing to you of my own accord. Allah Almighty has in fact sent down a verse about the Prophet. He does not speak idly, it says.
So: the Owner of the worlds, and when we pass on to the Hereafter we will all, Eleysallâhu bi-ahkemi'l-hâkimîn, before the judge of judges be called to account; I remind you of that time while you are in the world, he says.
By revelation: the revelation from my Lord, that is, the word, I tell you. Yes. It is Allah, who is free from time and place, speaking to the Prophet (peace be upon him) through the communication given to his heart. Revelation. What is revelation? Allah Almighty is beyond time and place. Allah Almighty has the attribute Hayy. What does Hayy mean? Allah, the Living: living. Free of need of the worlds, that is, apart from them; all the worlds find life from Him. He, on the other hand, needs no created being and is free of created beings: in that sense. The attribute Hayy. Yes.
Allah Almighty: that the Prophet (peace be upon him) is a prophet from Allah, and what Allah has made known to His Prophet by revelation so that people see the truth, is His announcing this to people. Yes. But the deaf, when they are warned, do not hear this call. The deaf: who are these deaf? As I said a moment ago, the word of truth, when they hear it, Allah Almighty says in the verse, in meaning: they get into a state where the clouds in the sky would crack, it says. Yes. Their ears are blocked against the truth. Allah Almighty did not block them. He did not block them. They had them blocked themselves.
With what? At the address Elestü bi-Rabbiküm. When He said I am your Lord, it is not "am I not". They interpret that passage wrongly. When He said I am your Lord, that elest is a definite command. There, people saw Allah Almighty like His essence, saw Him like themselves, and rebelled against Allah Almighty. I want to remind you of this point once more. But they said yes, it says. Kâlû: they said yes. This yes is not the yes of affirming Allah. It is the yes of knowing that they were created by a Lord. If they had not known this, Allah Almighty would be characterized. It would mean He had been unable to give them a mind to grasp that they were created by a Lord.
In that case too, Allah Almighty would be characterized. He leaves each person's own desire and wish, his own intent, free in his own will; the person who has his desire and wish, his intent, written as destiny will not be able to characterize Allah Almighty. He will not be able to say: if only You had made Your essence known to me. He gives him a fine mind. There, use your mind, He says. Do you not reflect? Do you not use your reason at all? He says. If Allah Almighty, to make His essence known, had given people a mind that would make it known, which He did, or had taken people's own wills away from them and used His own will over people, what need would there have been to send us into the world?
He would have sent us all to Paradise.
We would all be robots. Like whom? Like the angels.
But We created such a being that... what does He say? I have made man honored above the worlds, He says. What are these worlds? The realm of malakut included.
All created beings, from the atom to the globe: what created things? Above the living and the lifeless, man is the noblest of creatures. An example of this is His placing the world at our command, well, and creating every person as khalifa in the world. Khalifa. What does khalifa mean? One who looks after things in someone else's place. Yes, so where do we get our honor from? (?) those wrongdoers, by spreading the spirit to cats and dogs, to nature, have led people astray. The whole spirit is Allah Almighty; He gave a part of His essence to man. No created being other than man has a spirit. So Allah Almighty created man as the noblest of creatures.
And: I created man in the most beautiful form, He says. The most beautiful form: what is it? He created him as one form among the forms of Allah Almighty's essence. The totality of form is Allah Almighty. Yes. However you know Me, I (?) (?) So man is the noblest of creatures. In a verse He also says: If you seek honor, if you seek might and honor, might and honor are with Allah, He says. Yes. So, in the whole universe He holds man so much as His addressee that
He does not separate man from His essence. He speaks to man directly. But we cannot grasp this. He speaks directly through His verses. With His spirit that He gave us, which these outward eyes cannot see, with the spirit within us, He addresses us directly. But here our characters either rebel against Allah's word upon us, or else, feeling love and affection for that word, nurture a love for their Lord.
But the deaf, when they are warned, do not hear this call. Deafness here is used in a figurative sense. These people, although they hear sounds, are those who, facing the word of truth, when they listen to the truth, lack the ability to grasp the truth. They are the ones who, at kâlû belâ, at the address Elestü bi-Rabbiküm, denied Allah and through this denial had their intents written as their destiny. People in this state are blind to the truth. For they swim amid so many of Allah's blessings, yet they cannot grasp and see Allah's existence.
Their ears are deaf. Through so many miracles and events, although Allah openly proves His existence to people and proclaims the truth to the worlds, these people have blocked their ears to the truth. These are the deaf. Since in this state they can never again return to Allah, their hearts too have been sealed in this way. In line with their own intent and wishes, they had Allah Almighty seal their hearts. Such people are people of Hell forever. So when they are invited to Allah, these blind and deaf, despite hearing the truth, do not bow to the Truth or respond to the invitation.
Now, I describe the Prophet as the sultan of the earth, yes, the sultan of the earth. He is Allah's messenger, after all: the sultan of the earth. A sultan had treasuries, right? He calls: O people, folk, come! Muslim or non-Muslim, without any distinction, take from this treasury.
Those hostile to the sultan turn their backs and go; in want, in swamp and darkness they are content to remain, (?) they go away from there and do not want to benefit from that treasury.
So these people with deaf ears, blind eyes and sealed hearts, who are in rebellion against Allah: the Prophet's invitation to the truth. Such a treasure that, not the world, even if there were one more world, He says, Allah Almighty, in the Hereafter you would want to give it as ransom, He says, to be saved from punishment, He says. But today is not a day of ransom either.
Allah needs nothing. Because He is the Creator. So, not one world, He says; even if you had another world's worth of treasure and wanted to give it as ransom to be saved, that sultan's, that Prophet's invitation to you to this treasury of the light of Islam: is it not a great treasure?
If you turn your back on it, then like a bankrupt merchant, when you move on to the Hereafter, in that realm from which there is no return, "alas" will be worth nothing.
Yes.
