Translation

And when (Joseph) reached adolescence, We gave him (the knowledge of) judgment and knowledge. And this is how We reward the muhsin.

Tafsir

When Hazrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' reached the age of puberty, that is, the age of reason, the age of making his own decisions, Allah (swt) gave him knowledge along with the ability to judge with accuracy. When a person gives his heart to Allah and is with Allah, cleanses his nafs from evil, gets rid of the suspicions and grudges in his heart, Allah puts His light in his heart. Since Hazrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' was a Prophet who surrendered his heart to Allah, he was exposed to Allah's revelation when he was still a child. He is one of those whom Allah (swt) raised. Allah (swt) raises all Prophets.

Apart from the Prophets, Allah (swt) also educates people who are close to Him spiritually. Since these people are raised by Allah (swt), people who do not have a teacher in the world, but are taught by Allah (swt) Himself, are ummahs. If a person follows the path of Allah and does not give in to his own desires for the sake of Allah and reforms his ego, Allah puts His light in the hearts of such people. These people grow up under the mercy of Allah.

First Allah manifests to them. After this person is satisfied, Allah (swt) shows these people the meanings of the verses of the Holy Qur'an with the clarity of discovery. He starts to raise such people in knowledge. The person's perception opens. His senses expand and his ability to understand increases. When the Qur'an becomes his language, he does everything based on the verses of the Holy Qur'an. Since there is no deficiency in the Word of Allah, the decisions made by such people are accurate.

If people who believe and have faith in Allah are patient and do good deeds for the sake of Allah, Allah will reward them in this way. He gives them knowledge of the Hereafter. He gives them the ability to understand the verses of the Holy Qur'an. By teaching people what they do not know through the scholars he has raised, he sheds light in front of people with these scholars.

What is said in the video

Now we come to verse 22 of Surah Yusuf. We begin our lesson with this verse.

When Joseph reached maturity, We gave him the ability to judge rightly and knowledge, it says. Now this ability to judge rightly is wisdom.

What does Allah Almighty say in His verse? To whomever We give knowledge, We give wisdom. So if He gives knowledge to Joseph, to the prophet Joseph, He gives him wisdom. And here too it says: We gave him the ability to judge rightly and knowledge. So We gave him knowledge with wisdom. What did the verse say? To whomever We give knowledge, We give wisdom. What does it say here now? We gave him the ability to judge rightly and knowledge. And we too, because we were raised in the verses by our Lord, can know the wisdom of what meaning those verses have. Allah Almighty gives that wisdom, gives that feeling, gives that knowledge.

That is why we can open the verses. We can say: the meaning of this verse is this. Otherwise, like other people, we don't talk about an A, a B, a G, a Z, I mean, we don't jump from branch to branch.

Thus do We reward those who do good, it says. Now pay attention to the verse.

Here, I draw your attention. I read the verse once more. I draw your attention to the last verse. When Joseph reached maturity, We gave him the ability to judge rightly and knowledge. Gave, We gave, We raised, We taught, We taught. Thus those who do good — who are they?

The righteous servants who act for Allah, those who struggle with their nafs, those adorned with taqwa, thus do We reward those who do good, it says. That is, this verse is the verse that corresponds to this hadith. The wali of my community is like the (?) prophet of the Children of Israel. But those (?) cannot grasp this. And they oppose this hadith too. Thus do We reward those who do good. So to those who struggle with their nafs and advance on Allah's path on the straight path, We give knowledge and wisdom, it says. Come on, deny it now. Here I am before you. I was raised on this path. Come on, prove the opposite of this to me with verses.

I'm explaining this much.

So, the wali of my community is like a prophet of the Children of Israel. Like the (?) prophet of the Children of Israel, it says. In that case Allah Almighty gives knowledge and wisdom to those people too. But mind you, he is not a prophet. God forbid, Allah protect us. The prophets are separate. They — from the very first created soul of the Prophet (peace be upon him), our Lord created all the souls that were to be created, created the souls of the prophets, and when He said to them: as I send you, at the head of your people, as a prophet, do you accept? — they said, yes, we accept. Allah Almighty said, I too am a witness with you, and bore witness together with them.

He is the witness over them. He also made a covenant with us. It is different. That is why after the Seal of the Prophets there is no prophet anymore. But until the Day of Judgment Allah Almighty does not leave the world without scholars. They are heirs to them. What does the Prophet say? My community, prophets, scholars are the heirs of the prophets, he says. Which heirs are these? Which scholars? People who reformed their nafs on this path, raised by their Lord Himself, who, in Surah Al Imran, according to the knowledge it calls "wa'r-rasikhuna", were kneaded by Allah with Allah's knowledge, and to whom the meaning of the verses was shown through the opening of kashf, and to whom, along with knowledge, wisdom was given.

Otherwise one cannot say: I studied, I finished theology, I did my doctorate, I am a scholar, I am an heir of the prophets. Ah, he has done scholarship. He has trained himself in one branch as far as possible, but he is not a scholar. If he were a scholar, I say, then still, in the world, in the world, if they were scholars, they would stand up against the verses that were wrongly opened in this way. Yes. And they would show where they went wrong. So there are none. None at all? Are you the only one? There are. But they are not charged with the duty; it stays only with themselves. Because when We raise a scholar, above him a scholar, above him a scholar He raises, says Allah Almighty.

In that case the one charged with the duty is (?). He will express his duty, he will explain. Let them call him astray, let them call him mad, let them call him majzub. They, everyone, with his own thinking — according to the verse "Did you think you would die without proving what kind of person you are?" — proves what kind of person he is; according to this verse he proves it, and "We call no one to account for what We have not made known" according to that verse. So in this way, those who hear, the believers and the group of unbelievers come forth, and everyone has proven what kind of person he is.

What a fine life it is: although Allah Almighty makes the truth known to people, people, with their own minds, what kind of people they are prove themselves. Yes. So: thus do We reward those who do good. Not only Joseph. Those who, like Joseph, guard their honour and dignity, on the straight path, on a right way, who are bound by Allah's sharia ruling and, as far as they can, with their nafs struggle and bring their nafs to perfection — to such people Allah Almighty gives help. With His knowledge, with the opening of kashf, He raises them to a certain degree, within their rank, in proportion to the covenant given.

When Joseph (peace be upon him) reached maturity, that is, came of age, when he reached the age of making his own decisions, Allah Almighty gave him, along with the ability to judge rightly, knowledge. A person gives his heart to Allah and is with Allah. He purifies his nafs of evils. If he is freed from the suspicions and grudges in his heart, Allah places in his heart His light. And since Joseph (peace be upon him) was a prophet who surrendered to Allah with his heart, already as a child he was granted Allah's revelation. He is among those raised by Allah Almighty. Indeed, Allah Almighty raises all the prophets.

Yes. Here there are many words to be said. We go through it sentence by sentence. Sentence by sentence. For example, a person gives his heart to Allah and is with Allah. He purifies his nafs of evils. If he is freed from the suspicions and grudges in his heart, Allah places His light in his heart. In Surah An-Nur: Allahu nûru's-semâvâti ve'l-ard, meselü nûrihî ke-mişkâtin fîhâ misbâh, el-misbâhu fî In this verse Allah Almighty (?).

Now, Allah

is the illuminator of the heavens, it says. He is the illuminator of the heavens and the earth. Now, when it says here the illuminator of the heavens and the earth, it does not mean that He created suns for us and gave this light. The meaning of "illuminator of the heavens and the earth" is that He created the universe with His knowledge and in a certain order makes these worlds run, and according to the verse "We create (?) firmly" within Allah's oneness and unity there is the light of His knowledge and His power. Yes. Allah is the illuminator of the heavens and the earth. He places His light in the hearts of those He loves, kindled from the oil of power, even if (?), it would almost burn (?); upon it falls the shadow of neither east nor west, it says. That is, the sun rises in the east.

It also calls this outward knowledge. Its shadow does not fall. And since the sun sets in the west, the shadow of (?) superstitions does not fall on it either, it says. That is, neither can outward knowledge reach it, nor can it cast a shadow on it. Because that is being raised by outward minds. This, however, is like a sun raised by its Lord. Enlightening people with the meanings of the verses. Outside of outward knowledge. And we too, if we had been raised by other hodjas, by people, within the same knowledge, the same framework, with those verses, with those superstitions, we too would have gone on within the same knowledge.

But if we have stood up against so many people — there are 76 million Muslims in Turkey. There are the world's Muslims, all inoculated this way — if we have stood up against them and say: only I and Allah behind us, and if, according to the verse about those Allah raises, He has given us too this knowledge, and if it confirms the truth to every mind, if it confirms the truth in a way that can be understood — if Allah (?) from deficient attributes, you cannot ascribe attributes to Allah, and the verse doesn't come like that; it comes like this. Here you are, pay attention to how the Arabic comes, look also at the way the grammar comes; you have given it the wrong meaning.

Yes, in this case Allah Almighty, to those who struggle with their own nafs and will advance on Allah's path, places His light like this; upon that light falls the shadow of neither east nor west. And these are raised by their Lord Himself; He does not leave the worlds without scholars, and He calls no one to account for what He has not made known, Allah Almighty. Therefore, to people whose minds cannot grasp it, people who, as I said earlier at the beginning of the lesson, judge by superstitions — although under the light and proofs of so many verses we show people the verses as proof, these people get up and, against people they don't know, or because our talk has thrown a stone at superstitions, try to spread falsehood over the truth — for these poor people, in such ignorance, we cannot find even a single word to say.

Because they have no proof in their hands. Since the tongue has no bone, they just turn their words whichever way they like and only slander — people with black hands and black hearts. If these people feared Allah, these people — if they had the fear of Allah, a person who explains Allah and His Messenger, in a way that brings no flaw to Allah and His Messenger, in a way that exalts them, who sifts Allah's verses and the hadiths and explains to people, who speaks under the light of Allah's verses — such a person they could not slander. If he feared Allah. If I think of myself like this, then he would have to, with Allah's verses, under the light of Allah's verse, turn my dark path into light, and not say "this is a fake hodja" and to people, in this way, try to disparage the truth and to people slander. So these are, only with superstitions, poor, superstitious people who speak without fear of Allah and His Messenger.

In this case, in this case, I say it from within. I am sincere. I give up my claim against them. Against them I give up my claim. Because they don't know. They don't know. If they knew, they wouldn't speak anyway. Perhaps they too, because of their faith, because they know it that way, because it runs against their own knowledge, may suspect me. But as I said a moment ago, such people need to research the truth. I give my right to everyone. Yes. We continue.

Besides the prophets, Allah Almighty also raises people who are close to Him spiritually. Now we are trying to open the verse in that last sentence. Here, since we explain it to you together, as father and child, as a brother in religion, as a brother, since I am here before you, I speak a bit openly. But here I speak with restraint. What do we say here, with restraint? Besides the prophets, Allah Almighty also spiritually raises people who are close to Him, we say. Since these are raised by Allah Almighty, people who in this world have no teachers, whose teaching is done by Allah Almighty Himself, are ummi. Yes, ummi does not only mean someone who cannot read and write.

The meaning of ummi: a person who has not been trained by anyone in any branch of knowledge and has been raised by Allah is ummi. A person who has taken his lesson directly from Allah is ummi. Yes.

What does it say? (?) do not ask about the knowledge of the tariqa. From the muhaddith, from the mudarris, that is, from the world of hadith or from a hodja, the knowledge of the tariqa — ask the one who takes his lesson directly from God, it says. That is, ask the one who received it directly, ask the one who received it from Allah. If you say "the diver", it says, ask the one who dived into this sea.

The ummi are people raised directly by their Lord. Yes. Since these are raised by Allah Almighty, people who in this world have no teachers, whose teaching is done by Allah Almighty Himself, are ummi. A person advances on Allah's path and, for Allah, does not (?) his own selfish desires. If he reforms his nafs, Allah places His light in the hearts of such people. These people grow up under Allah's mercy. First, Allah manifests Himself to them. Now we're listing it in order here. After this person attains inner peace, Allah Almighty shows these people the meanings of the verses of the Holy Quran through the opening of kashf.

We're trying to explain it here. He begins to raise such people in knowledge. The person's perception opens, his feelings widen, his ability to understand grows. When the Quran is his language, he does everything based on the verses of the Holy Quran. Let's say "they do" here. That's better. Yes.

Yes. They do. Since there is no deficiency in Allah's word, since there is no deficiency in Allah's word, the decisions such people make are sound. Because he explains every matter by basing it on Allah's word, (?). For example, we show Allah's verses according to the way our child Yasemin spoke. We evaluate all of it by the verses. For example, it doesn't say "suns", it says "sun". It says stars, but it says stars (?). In that case, people, with their limited minds, with some of their talk or with the words they say, can be mistaken. Even if they have advanced in technology. But Allah does not err. And if He raises a person by the verses, if He raises him, then the words those people say under the light of the verses are sound.

Their mistakes are very rare. Their mistakes — he is human, of course he errs. He is human, he errs. Then Allah Almighty inspires the truth in the person facing him too. Because that person has a duty. Yes. What do we say? First, Allah manifests Himself to them. After this person attains inner peace, Allah Almighty shows these people the meanings of the verses of the Holy Quran through the opening of kashf. He begins to raise such people in knowledge. The person's perception opens. His feelings widen. His ability to understand grows. So we are explaining the verse. What are we explaining? To whomever We give knowledge, We give wisdom.

We are explaining that verse here. When the Quran is their language, they do everything based on the verses of the Holy Quran. Since there is no deficiency in Allah's word, the decisions such people make are sound. So if people who believe in Allah and have faith are patient for Allah and do good works, Allah rewards them in this way. He acquaints them with the knowledge of the hereafter; the ability to understand the verses of the Holy Quran He gives them. By teaching people what they do not know through the scholars He raises this way, with these scholars He holds a light before people. Yes.

About people, here there is one single word to say. One single word. Because they cannot free themselves from ego and selfish desire, they know the truth very well. But, but, there's jealousy, isn't there, there's envy, there's ego, there's the craving to be at the head — that's it. What does the hadith say anyway? Whoever falls into the craving to be head loses his own head. We are not craving to be at the head. We say: you learn, and as long as people understand from someone's tongue, in that tongue let them explain it to those people, we say. Let us explain, and you explain them too. Yes. In this case people say: who is this guy, who is this?

What is his knowledge, they say. We have studied this much, they say.

Fine, so many doctors, so many scholars, ulema, engineers do science. But Allah Almighty sends His Prophet. His prophets at their head — through revelation and the opening of kashf, Allah's knowledge He tries to explain to them. God forbid, I said it a moment ago. We are not prophets, but we are heirs of the prophets. And Allah has raised us, and to you, with Quran verses like this — as the verse says anyway. What does it say? In the verse Allah Almighty says: those who do good deeds, those who do good deeds We reward in this way. Doesn't it say so? Thus do We reward those who do good. I purify my nafs for Allah, or you purify your nafs for Allah, from evils — if you cleanse yourselves of glory, fame, pride, arrogance, ego, grandeur, love of the world, and from gossip, backbiting, from such traits you keep away, if you master your hand, your loins and your tongue, then surely Allah will not leave you alone.

So if people who believe in Allah and have faith are patient for Allah and do good works, Allah rewards them in this way. He acquaints them with the knowledge of the hereafter. He gives them the ability to understand the verses of the Holy Quran. By teaching people what they do not know through the scholars He raises this way, with these scholars He holds a light before people. Yes.
