And the nation of Noah, when they accused their Prophet of being a liar, We drowned them and made them an exemplary for mankind. We have prepared a pitiful punishment for the oppressors.
Tafsir
Allah (swt) also informed the Prophet (pbuh) of the situation of the people of Noah. In this case, by referring to the Prophet (PBUH), he is declaring that the disbelievers did not only disbelieve in the Prophet (PBUH), but that in the time of the Prophets, there were oppressors who would disbelieve in the Prophets.
In this case, he gives the example of Hadrat Noah as an example. Hadrat Noah lived among his people for nine hundred and sixty years. Although he entrusted the people with the Truth, they did not listen to his orders. They continued to deny Allah (swt).
The disbelieving polytheists said to their children, 'Do not believe the words of this man, we are the testament of our fathers. This man does not die and he will address you as he addressed us. He will invite you to the One God. There is no such God. They used to say, "You should advise your children, don't believe this man's words.
These people did not come to their senses even though they heard the Truth. They denied their Prophets and Allah. Allah (swt) destroyed them by drowning them in water. He covered the earth with water in a deluge called Noah's flood and with this water these people perished. Except those whom Allah saved by boarding the ship by Allah's command.
Allah (swt) makes these people an example for the worlds until the Day of Resurrection. And He creates Hell for the wrongdoers and prepares for them therein a painful torment.
What is said in the video
We have come to Surah Al-Furqan, verse 37. Allah Almighty, through His verses,
through the messengers He sent to the peoples, through the peoples not listening to the messengers, and through our Lord destroying them, gives people parables and examples. So, O people, look, this is how We acted against those who did not listen to Me in the past; We removed them, destroyed them. So that you too do not meet the same fate, He, with His verses, warns us. Well, why is there no destruction in our time despite so much filth? Huh, why no destruction? Allah Almighty says this:
I sent My Messenger as a mercy to the worlds, He says. Where there is mercy, there is no wrath.
Well, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has passed on to the Hereafter. Well then, the mercy has been removed. No. Even though the Prophet has passed on to the Hereafter, Allah Almighty says: I have made you alive. He is alive. And he is among us until the Day of Judgment. So the destructions were lifted, and calamities were brought in their place. Yes. What does it say? As for the people of Noah, when they accused their prophets of lying, We drowned them in water and made them a lesson for mankind. And for the wrongdoers We have prepared a painful torment, it says.
Of Noah (peace be upon him), Allah Almighty is speaking. What does it say? As for the people of Noah, when they accused their prophets of lying, We drowned them in water and made them a lesson for mankind. And for the wrongdoers We have prepared a painful torment, it says. Noah lived among his people for 960 years. In 1240 years, Noah lives on after the flood. There are reports that he lived 1200 years. Now, Noah's people, that is, (?), let's sum up. Noah's people pass on advice about Noah from father to son. A father says to his son: My son, I have this advice from my father: this man does not die.
Never believe this man's words. He is insane, a madman. That is, this one we don't take seriously, they say. And finally Noah says to Allah Almighty: O my Lord, they did not listen to me. Then Allah Almighty tells Noah to build a ship. After a pair of every living thing has been taken aboard, he and those who believe in him board the ship. The earth swells with water, and the waters pour down from the skies. The earth is submerged under water. And all living things die. Once again, after Adam, people, after Noah, multiplied anew. Now we read the verse once more. We will move on again to its (?), inshallah.
As for the people of Noah, when they accused their prophets of lying, We drowned them in water and made them a lesson for mankind. And for the wrongdoers We have prepared a painful torment, it says. Yes.
For the wrongdoers there is a painful torment.
Allah Almighty tells the Prophet (peace be upon him) about the situation of Noah's people. So, reassuring the Prophet (peace be upon him), He declares that the unbelievers did not deny only the Prophet (peace be upon him), but that in the times of the prophets, wrongdoers who would deny the prophets arose. Yes, that wrongdoers arose who would deny the prophets, Allah Almighty tells the Prophet (peace be upon him). Already earlier, what does it say? For every prophet, enemies arise from among the criminals, it says. They arise, it says. Yes.
So He also shows Noah (peace be upon him) as an example. Namely, Noah (peace be upon him) lived among his people for 960 years. The people – although he conveyed the truth to the people, the people did not listen to the commands of Noah (peace be upon him). They continued to deny Allah Almighty. The denying polytheists would say to their children: never believe this man's words. We have it as a bequest from our fathers. This man does not die, and just as he addresses us, he will address you too. He will call you too to that One Allah. There is no such god. You, too, to your children give advice: do not believe this man's words, they would say.
So these people, too, despite hearing the truth, did not mend their ways. They denied their prophet and Allah. And Allah Almighty destroyed them by drowning them in water. With a flood known as Noah's Flood He covered the earth with water, and by this water these people perished. Except those whom Allah saved, who boarded the ship by Allah's command. So Allah Almighty makes these people a lesson for the worlds until the Day of Judgment, and for the wrongdoers, by creating Hell, He prepares a painful torment for them there. It is said that when the waters receded, the ship came to rest on Mount Judi.
