Translation

(Oh My Messenger!) Vow to that; they (the idolaters from Makkah) have come across the town that has been struck by the calamitous rain. Were they not seeing it? No, they don’t expect to be resurrected after death.

Tafsir

By Allah swearing by His Essence, He said to those who disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger during the time of the Prophet (s.a.w.), by pointing to Qariyah, the town of Prophet Lut (peace be upon him), which was showered with calamities and disasters, did these people not visit these places? No, surely they have visited these places and they have seen this. So what drives them away from Allah? They believe that there will be no resurrection after death.

Allah (swt) shows these people as examples for the people who will come until the Day of Judgment. All human beings are examples for each other. In that case, if they do not take examples from them, if they do not listen to advice, what will they listen to as advice?

These people have been disobedient and cruel because they have dictated their covenants in accordance with their own desires and wishes, and they will never go back on their own short-sighted decisions about disbelief in Allah and the non-existence of resurrection after death.

What is said in the video

The fortieth noble verse. Surah Al-Furqan, verse 40. My Messenger, by oath, these Meccan idolaters, that town which was struck by a rain of calamity and disaster, they have passed by it.

Well, did they not see it? No, they do not expect to be resurrected after death, it says.

Allah Almighty, swearing by His own Self, in the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him), those who denied Allah and His Prophet, with a rain of calamity and disaster He struck them. Pointing to Kariye, the town of Lot (peace be upon him), He says: have these people not passed by these places? That is, when He rained a rain of stones on the people of Lot, that was within the Saudi lands. So did the Meccans not pass by here, it says. Long ago, when we passed by land there at Tabuk, that terrain was like this, full of pitch-black stones the size of small watermelons. Pitch-black, pitch-black stones.

So Allah Almighty, to the people who will come until the Day of Judgment, as examples, presents these people too.

Let us read it from the start. Allah Almighty, swearing by His own Self, to those who in the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) denied Allah and His Prophet, pointing to the town struck by a rain of calamity and disaster, the town of Lot (peace be upon him), Kariye, says: have these people not passed by these places? Not so. Surely they passed by these places and saw this. Then what is it that keeps them away from Allah? It is their believing that resurrection after death will never happen. Yes.

Who, they say, has been resurrected after death? Who has gone and come back? Look what Allah Almighty says anyway. Even if We sent you back not once, once, once, but several more times, you would do the same thing again, He says. That is, once we leave here, there is no coming back. When you say who has gone and come back, Allah Almighty already tells you in His verse. You have been programmed. When you go there and say: My Allah, send me back. Look how I will worship You — when you say that: even if We sent you back not once but several more times, you would do the same thing again, He says. Because with us the (?) are like that, the character is like that.

If you record words on a tape, or shoot a video, wherever you make it speak, that video always says the same thing. People are programmed like that too. Their destinies are written according to their desires and deeds. So a person will live out his own destiny. Then they say: who will revive these rotting bones again? Well, Allah Almighty said: He who created it first will revive it. So you ask who will revive those rotting bones, but this human cell, magnified a thousand times under the microscope, in the mother's womb, this whole human program, its eyes, its ears, its heart, its lungs, every kind of element, the way it is written into it, its creation, and that a living creature, without anything happening to it, without any defect, comes into the world — why do you not take that into account? Why do you not think about it?

Who created this? Why do you not ask yourself? Why do you not ask yourself who makes this in this way? Asking whether our bones, rotting (?) like that, will be revived again. So did this universe just come about by itself? That is what you say anyway. Everything just came about by itself. Yes.

So Allah Almighty, to the people who will come until the Day of Judgment, as examples, presents these people too. All people serve as examples to one another. So if they do not take these as examples and do not listen to advice, what will they ever listen to as advice?

Yes.

Since these people have had their hereafter written according to their own aims, desires and wishes, and since they will never turn back from denying Allah, from saying there is no resurrection after death, or from the short-sighted decisions they made, they do not listen to anyone, and they end up as wrongdoers.
