Behold! they fold up their chests, so that they may hide (their animosity) from the Prophet. Oh, even if they cover themselves with their garments, Allah knows what they hide, and what they reveal, because Allah knows very well the innermost secrets of hearts!
Tafsir
When those who were enemies of Allah and His Messenger would see the Prophet (SAW), they would turn their backs and turn away from him out of enmity. In this way they would try to hide what was in their hearts. They do not know that Allah is all-knowing.
(Know well that Allah knows what they conceal and what they reveal, even when they cover themselves with their clothes). The meaning of "even when they cover themselves with their clothes" is that when a man takes off his clothes, he is naked. Allah, Who created you naked, Allah, Who writes your destinies for you, is aware of all your states. Whether you hide what is in your hearts or reveal it, Allah knows what you will do.
A second meaning is that when a person goes to bed, he takes off his clothes and falls asleep. Sleep is a state in which a person is unaware of himself. In this state, a person is half dead because he is unaware of himself. The person has no will. In this state he is not responsible for what he does. In this respect, the phrase "when you put on your clothes" means that from the moment a person starts to use his will, he starts to be responsible again. Because Allah (knows the essence of the hearts) is acquainted with the secrets of the hearts (in Qalubala). Allah, who gives people their desires and wishes as their destiny after they have made a covenant with Him, will surely know the secrets of people's hearts and the essence of their hearts. He even knows those who live in need and do not know that they will be needed, and those who are hidden in their hearts and are unaware of it. Because He is Allah.
So, O human being! Where and why are you running away? Can't you stop your nafs and shaitan that distract you from Allah? Can't you break your pride and arrogance? Can't you leave your nafs that draws you to the fire in the Hereafter, while in this world you cannot hold your hand to the light of a candle? After so many truths, miracles, scholars and Books, what will you believe in and what will you follow? Remember! Every soul will taste death, and in the Hereafter you will be rewarded for what you have earned, and you will be held accountable for what you have done. Before the day of torment comes, turn to your Lord and become one of the heirs of the abode of eternal bliss, so that Allah will be pleased with you and you will be pleased with Allah, and you will buy the abode of eternal paradise.
What is said in the video
Know that they turn away their breasts to hide their enmity from the Prophet.
The polytheists, toward the Prophet (peace be upon him), out of their hatred and enmity, unable to look him in the face, being in that state, would turn their breasts away from him and turn their backs. As if by turning their backs — yet of what they hide in their breasts the Prophet will not be unaware. Whereas Allah Almighty says: beware the insight of the believer, he sees with the light of Allah, and this is a Prophet who came as a mercy to the worlds. Know well that even when they wrap themselves in their garments, Allah knows what they conceal and what they reveal. For He knows the essence of hearts, it says.
Yes. Allah Almighty knows the essence of hearts. What does that mean?
The secrets that pass through hearts.
In one sense, according to people's wishes and desires, the characters given to people. The feelings passing through those hearts according to the wishes and desires of those characters. Allah Almighty knows them. Those hostile to Allah and His Messenger, when they saw the Prophet (peace be upon him), would, out of their enmity toward the Prophet, turn their breasts away, turn their backs and leave. In this way they try to hide what passes through their hearts. They do not know that Allah is aware of everything.
Those who bear a grudge against Allah?
Those who do not recognize Allah and His Messenger,
who worship idols made with their own hands,
who incline to the world and believe there is no hereafter —
of course, when the truth is conveyed to them, since the word of truth weighs heavy on these people's nafs, they distance themselves from Allah and also become hostile to those who say Allah.
And the people of faith recognize the faithless. And the faithless one recognizes the people of faith. These people who have never seen one another — by way of the worship they perform, the non-Muslims who are not people of faith take a stand against the people of faith. What is the reason?
You do not know this man. You have no dealings with this man either. You have never spoken with them either. Then why do you take a stand against this man? Because you were hostile to Allah from the beginning. Because you did not accept Allah's decree over you, because, not accepting the existence of your Lord, you awaited the Lord of your imagination; since in the realm of the hereafter he denied Allah, with the same feelings he becomes hostile here too to those who say Allah. Yet the person he is hostile to — he neither saw him, nor spoke with him, nor did any business or trade with him. So this person's enmity toward that person, or else the veil he has put between them — by what does he measure it?
He certainly knows that there is Allah. But that Allah would have to be the Allah of his imagination, the Lord of his imagination, and while he is in the world He would (?) to those of rank and position, would do what they say and use words that please them. Because they await such a Lord — and since Allah Almighty, having created all these worlds, all of them being Allah's servants, will do injustice to none among them, since this runs against their own interests, just as they turned their backs on Allah who created them, so in the world too they turn their backs in this way on those who say Allah.
Yes.
Know well that even when they wrap themselves in their garments, Allah knows what they conceal and what they reveal. The meaning in saying "even when they wrap themselves in their garments": when a person takes off his garment he is left naked. Allah, who created you stark naked, Allah, who wrote your destiny for you, is aware of all your states. Where? In that realm of Lahut.
With that spirit of ours which is our essence, that is, our true self, our being, when He made the covenant at the address Elestü bi Rabbiküm, Allah, who gave us our wishes and desires, our aim, as destiny, says: even when in the world, covering our private parts, we put on our clothes. It seems to a person as if he had lived this very moment. Whereas if we think about it, the covenant we gave our Lord way back in the realm of the hereafter — Allah Almighty, in proportion to that covenant, the characters He gave us, and knowing what we would do within these characters, Allah says: after We took that covenant, We raised you to the barzakh.
After the barzakh, He says, after however long a time, you came into the world and in the world, well, you put on the guise of a body, and in this bodily guise you put on your garments, those garments you put on; even your covering yourselves, He says — so that my giving you your covenant as destiny when I made the covenant with you would never have any distortion or any deficiency — (?) you in all your states. In all your states. Yes.
Whether you hide what is in your hearts or reveal it, Allah knows what you will do. Yes. As I said earlier, if Allah Almighty, at the address Elestü bi Rabbiküm, when He made the covenant with us, gave us our wishes and desires as destiny, then of course, by the verse "until the Day of Judgment there is not a single living being of which We do not know what it will do," He who knows what each person, within their lifetimes until the Day of Judgment, will do, who knows what passes through their hearts, says to you: what you need and what is hidden in the remotest corner of your heart, that too We know, says Allah Almighty.
Yes.
Another meaning is that a person, when he lies down, takes off his clothes and falls asleep. Sleep is the state in which a person is unaware of himself. In this state, since a person is unaware of himself, he is half dead. The person is not in possession of his will.
In this
state he is not responsible for what he does either. For what he does either. In this respect, when you wrap yourselves in your garments — the "when you wrap yourselves in your garments" — the meaning of saying this is that from the moment a person begins to use his will his responsibilities begin again — that is what it makes known. The person's responsibilities again — while in that sleeping state, He says, We do not hold you responsible for what you have done, He says. For example, there are sleepwalkers. They get up, walk around, do something, come back. These are outside their own will. But after you wake up, every movement you make We will write against you, He says. Whether you do good the weight of an atom or evil the weight of an atom, We will write it, He says. It makes known that from the moment a person begins to use his will his responsibilities begin again.
For Allah knows the essence of hearts; He is aware of the secrets of hearts. What does secret mean? His creating that heart, His manifestation in that heart — the body has many pieces of flesh, it has organs. Why not any one of them, but the heart? The heart is an organ with the function of sustaining a person's vital element. It cleans the bloodstream and at the same time pumps blood to the whole body. It sends blood even to the finest capillaries in the brain. And when you split the heart down the middle, if you look carefully, carefully — the fibres in the heart, the fibres, are arranged in such a way that they are all adorned with the word Allah.
Those fibres are arranged with the word Allah written. Yes. For Allah knows the essence of hearts; He is aware of the secrets of hearts. After the covenant with Allah at Kalu Bela, Allah, who gave people their wishes and desires as destiny, will of course know the secret in people's hearts and its essence. He even knows what a person needs while living unaware that he will need it, and what is hidden in his heart while he is unaware of it. For He is Allah. That is, the Creator. That is, He who gave us our wishes and desires, our aim, as characters and who knows, throughout our life until our death, within our lifetime, second by second what we will do.
How do you know? That He will write it second by second.
Yes.
If Allah Almighty, in every movement you make, writes good the weight of an atom and evil the weight of an atom, this, second by second, your knowing what you will do (?). And for Him to know what you will do, Allah Almighty has the attribute of being Allah. According to your wish and desire — pay attention here — according to people's wishes and desires, Allah Almighty creates the causes of the actual deeds they will do. He creates the causes. And by the person committing that actual deed — He who, second by second, before those seconds have even come, knows your wish and desire, your aim, and creates causes according to the deed you will do — within those causes, with actual deeds, the moment you commit your deed, good the weight of an atom and evil the weight of an atom were written.
And this is Allah's attribute of being Allah. He will create causes for everyone according to their wishes and deeds, and according to those causes people — with these feelings, with their actual deeds, with the good deeds and sins they have done — Allah Almighty will call them to account for these. Well then, in this case, does Allah Almighty not know second by second what a person does? How beautifully it is proven this way. Then, O man, from where and why are you fleeing?
How far will you flee? Why are you fleeing?
However much you flee, one day death will come and catch you. Just as you came into the world, just as you came into the world — if you knew that you did not come into being by yourself, that you have an Allah who created you, did you think you would escape by your death, that you turn your back on Allah and flee? If you know that by your death you go into His presence, with a faith stronger than that in your coming into the world, you will keep your work in the world according to Allah's good pleasure; if you do deeds in a way that pleases Allah, you will prosper. Otherwise your situation is hard, our situation is hard.
Then, O man, from where and why are you fleeing? Can you not say stop to your nafs and your devil that distance you from Allah? "Where did I come from, where am I going" — can you not ask yourself that? How beautifully Hazrat Yunus Emre says it. For one who cannot know where he came from and where he is going, (?). Animal. Yes. Can you not break your pride and arrogance? While in the world you cannot hold your hand to the smallest candle flame, from your nafs that in the hereafter drags you into that fire, can you not part? After so many truths, miracles, scholars and books, what will you believe in and what will you follow?
Do not forget, every soul will taste death. In the realm of the hereafter it will see the reward of what it earned, and you will be called to account for your deeds. Before that day of torment comes and strikes, while the chance is in our hands, turn back to your Lord. Join the heirs of the abode of eternal bliss, so that, Allah being pleased with you and you being pleased with Allah, you may purchase the eternal abode of Paradise. Yes.
