(Oh Muhammad!) These are from the news of nations (whose people were destroyed). We are telling you about it. There are some from them whose traces remain and some who (are like) crop that has been reaped (and vanished).
Tafsir
By narrating these unseen events to the Prophet (PBUH), Allah (swt) is trying to remind people and make people think by proving many things.
The first is that Allah (swt) is the absolute Owner of the worlds and that there is no other God but Him,
Secondly, the confirmation of the Prophethood of the Prophet (SAW). Because the Prophet (pbuh) neither lived in those times nor was he ignorant of them. By revealing this unseen news to the Prophet (SAW), Allah is proving that He is a Prophet sent by Himself.
Thirdly, how people who deny Allah's commands, who do not believe in Allah and the Hereafter, and who overstep Allah's limits are destroyed.
Fourthly, since Allah (swt) will not hold anyone responsible for what He does not announce, He first warns the people of the land through Prophets. He makes His commands known to the people and invites them to Himself. But that people who do not listen to Allah's commands are destroyed by their egoistic actions and by disobeying Allah and the Prophets.
Fifthly, he narrates these events as a mercy to people, so that people living in our time can hear the commands of Allah and compare how much they obey the commands of Allah, what is the difference between them and the people who perished, and so that they can be an example to people who understand.
There are some of them whose traces remain until our time. For example, Pharaoh is exhibited to people until the Day of Judgment as an example to the worlds. His body was found in the Red Sea and put in a museum in England for display. The traces of Prophet Salih's people are clear in Saudi Arabia near the city of Tabuk. There are towns and people who have never lived in their homelands, and their towns have been turned upside down and their traces have disappeared, like a field of crops that has been mowed down.
What is said in the video
He addresses the Prophet (peace be upon him). He tells of the destruction of past peoples. After telling of their prophets' warnings to the peoples, among the peoples who did not listen to their prophets, after saving their prophets and those who followed them and destroying the other peoples, in verse 100 Allah Almighty this time addresses the Prophet (peace be upon him) with His verse. What does He say? O Muhammad, this is from the news of the lands whose people were destroyed. That is, these events I told you of — in the past, those who did not obey My prophets and did not know Me as Lord, sir, I told you the news of those who did not know Me.
I told you. You were not with them, nor would you have been with them, nor would you have known what they were. But I am informing you of them, He says. We tell it to you. That is, We tell you of the past. Of them there are some whose traces remain to this day, so that, as proof of the truth of what We tell, there are traces that remain. And there are some that vanished like a reaped harvest. For example, traces of some of those destroyed are found. The people of the Sabbath being turned into apes, their forms turned into apes. When Darwin, sir, Doctor Darwin, said man comes from the ape — Allah Almighty's turning the form of those people of the Sabbath into apes.
Sir, in the people of Thamud, they collapsed on their knees, and their traces are still there, marks of them on their knees are found; and in the people of Lot, the raining of stones of baked clay, which on the road, about the size of a watermelon, a small watermelon in size, black stones piled up there; it is not possible for human strength to make those stones like that and bring them there. That too is a sea, beside a people, on the road. Some have traces, He says. And some vanished like a reaped harvest, He says. From here Allah Almighty gives us many warnings. He has many warnings for people.
Let us read them here and explain them to you. So by telling the Prophet (peace be upon him) these unseen events, Allah Almighty proves many things and tries to remind people of things and lead people to reflect. In the first, Allah Almighty tells us that He, in His essence, is the absolute Owner of the unseen and of the worlds and that there is no god other than Him.
Because since the world was founded He has been addressing us. There is no power or force other than Him that addresses us and brings events to pass. Those who rose up perished too. Like the Nimrods, like the Pharaohs. For example, if we say, who knows, a book written long ago may now be (?) — if we say that, according to our Lord's verse, being the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden, He proves His existence until the Day of Judgment too. With what? First of all with this verse.
We give the non-Muslims two or three misfortunes a year, He says. Does He give them? Do we see it? So if these events occur, and since this is within Allah's power, it becomes proof of Allah's existence at every moment. Yes.
Second, the confirmation of the prophethood of the Prophet (peace be upon him), because the Prophet (peace be upon him) neither lived in those times nor received any news from people. By telling these prophets' tidings, er, these tidings of the unseen to the Prophet (peace be upon him), His messenger — that he is a prophet sent by (?) — is what Allah proves. Because the Prophet gives news from an unseen world through verses. So to whom does Allah Almighty give this verse? To His messenger. And by telling it, His messenger proves that he is the Messenger of Allah Almighty. He is My Messenger, My envoy.
And I speak only through My envoy. That is, I make the matter known to him through verses. And if he tells you the events of past peoples like a history, since he tells them from Me, I, as his confirmation, prove this to you, that he is My envoy, He says. His envoy. Third, those who deny Allah's commands, who do not believe in Allah and the Hereafter, who push Allah's limits and overstep them — He tells how their destruction came about; those who did not carry out His commands. Fourth, since Allah Almighty will not hold anyone responsible for (?) He has not made known, He first has the people of a land warned through prophets, makes His commands known to people and has them invited to Himself. But people who do not listen to Allah's commands, by their selfish behaviour, opposing Allah and the prophets, perished — He makes that known.
Fifth, so that people living in our time too, (?) Allah's commands, may compare to what degree they themselves observe Allah's commands, and what difference there is between them and the people who were destroyed, and so that they become lessons for those who understand, out of His mercy He tells people these events. That is, what did He tell the old people? What is He telling me? What is the difference between me and them? To the old peoples He said: obey Allah. Do not associate partners with Allah, He said. Do not cheat one another, He said. Spread right and justice on the earth, He said. In that case, to what degree do I carry out Allah's command?
I cheat. I do injustice. Do not drink alcohol, do not drink, He says; I drink. Do not commit adultery, He says; you do it. Do not gamble, He says; you gamble. Eat what is halal, He says; you turn to the haram. The only difference between you is that you say La ilahe illallah. And how you will end up is unknown too. Unknown. In that case, since they were destroyed, if you are not destroyed, it is because Allah Almighty, for the sake of the Prophet (peace be upon him), has lifted the destructions, and gives to those who push Allah's limits misfortunes. Everyone who looks sees this, sees it. Yes. Apparently hail fell in Germany.
Fist-sized, it pierced the cars and everything. Was it yesterday, or the day before? The day before. Like that, (?) and so on, fist-sized. On a man's head this would (?), I mean. Maybe there are dead too, it's not known. It did a lot of damage, Hodja. To new vehicles, a lot of damage at a factory. To a factory? Which factory? At the (?) factory they had brought out the cars. It did them a lot of damage. Yes. Of course Allah gives. You cannot know to whom, what, where He will give. So Allah Almighty proves at every moment anyway that He is eternal in His essence. Yes.
Of them there are some whose traces have remained to our time. As I said earlier, for example, so that it be a lesson to the worlds, He has Pharaoh, until the Day of Judgment, displayed to people. What does He say? It must be Surah Yunus, I think, verse 92. Today, He says, I will leave your body, your lifeless body, as a lesson to the worlds, He says. Your lifeless body. And according to this verse the English find it in the Red Sea. Knowing that Allah's verses will come true and that there is no (?) in them, the unbeliever son of an unbeliever — for the unbeliever searches, finds it, but what pride and arrogance it is, he still does not believe in Allah, he associates partners with Him.
Yes.
And it has been taken to a museum in England for display. The people of the Prophet Salih: in Saudi Arabia, near the city of Tabuk; as you enter Tabuk there are hills on the left side. They do not let people in there. They have put the place under protection.
Nearby their traces are clear. And there are those that are not evident, as if they had never lived in their homes, like a reaped field, whose towns were turned upside down. Their traces have vanished. There are such towns and people too. Here, the people of the Prophet Salih — in Saudi Arabia, near the city of Tabuk, their traces are clear. Here, as we said, their traces where they collapsed on their knees, in that city of Tabuk, where they collapsed on their knees, the places where they were found like that — their traces are clear there. They do not let people into those places either.
Yes.
