Alif. Laam. Raa. These are verses of the evident Book.
Tafsir
These are the Muqatta Verses at the beginning of a Verse. We have explained in the previous Verses that such Muqatta Verses cannot be given a meaning. For more information, refer to Surah Al Imran, verse seven.
These Verses are the Verses of a Clear Book. Allah (there is a Book with Us, which is preserved in the Tabh al-Mahfuz, and no addition or omission is made to it). So Allah has sent His Word in a clear way, in the Holy Qur'an. However, since Allah's word is based on letters, the meanings of those letters are in the realm of Allah. In this respect, the Qur'an is both a mystery and the verses are formed by the coming together of the letters. The Holy Qur'an, sent in a way that people can understand, within the characters and meanings of each person, is a light that sheds light in front of people.
What is said in the video
Yes, here we are. The 12th surah, Surah Yusuf, verse 1. Elif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the clear Book.
Here we mark some verses.
Yes.
Those at the beginning of the verse, of the word, are muqatta'a verses. The words at the beginning of this verse, the, um, verses are muqatta'a verses. That such muqatta'a verses are not to be given a meaning we explained in the previous verses. For more information, see Surah Al Imran, verse 7, it says. These verses are the verses of a clear Book. Allah Almighty: with Us there is a Book which is preserved in the Preserved Tablet. And after that, nothing is added to it and nothing is left out. So Allah has sent His word clearly with the Holy Quran. But since Allah's word rests on letters, as for the meanings of those letters, Allah knows best. Therefore the Quran is both a secret, and by letters coming together the verses are formed.
Sent within every person's characters and meanings, in a way people can understand, the Holy Quran is a light that shines before people.
Now, they are muqatta'a verses. You cannot give meaning to the muqatta'a verses. Whoever sets out to give meaning to these muqatta'a verses, these are people with a disease in their hearts.
Pay attention. Surah Al Imran, verse 7 has been rendered wrongly. I will read the right version. Since we have no time left, since we passed over these parts, I will read the right version. "It is Allah who sent down the Book to the unlettered Messenger," it says. That Allah. It is He who sent down the Book firmly, without it undergoing any change. Firmly. That is, without any tampering or damage in any of its letters, without any deficiency, He sent it down completely. Some of its verses, as the foundations of the Quran, are clear and definite. That is, the verses He has made known to us. That is, its legal rulings.
Yes. Some of its verses they call mutashabih. The verses He calls mutashabih are what we call the muqatta'a verses: Elif, Lam, Ra, Yaz, Tah, which they called, which He called and emphasized in this way — these verses. They are mutashabih verses. Yes, those with doubts in their hearts — pay attention, now we are getting into this — those with doubts in their hearts, in order to stir up discord, give meanings by their own reasoning and follow the interpretation of the mutashabih verses. For example, he says "Elif, lammim (?)" has three meanings. How did you know that this has three meanings? Look, what does Allah say in the verse?
How did you give this a meaning? On what basis did you give it a meaning? On what basis? Well then, there is a disease in your heart. You are someone who has fallen for the passion of being a leader. Do not believe the words of such people. Do not follow such people. Pay attention, I am repeating the verse.
And some verses are mutashabih. Those with doubts in their hearts, in order to stir up discord, give meanings by their own reasoning and follow the interpretation of the mutashabih verses. Yet the interpretation of the mutashabih is known only to Allah. There you go: so if the interpretation of the mutashabih is known only to Allah, and you set out, against this verse, to give meaning to these muqatta'a, mutashabih verses, then, as a servant of Allah, are you a liar or not?
And are you a person who breeds discord in his heart and wants to drown everything in corruption, who has fallen for the passion of being a leader, or not? (?) Who are you? You will answer a muqatta'a verse? Who are you? Because our Lord's word is the truth. In His word you cannot find (?). You cannot say "it means this" or "it means that". It is definite; here the verse is definite. Look what it says. Let me look once more. Yet the interpretation of the mutashabih is known only to Allah. Only Allah knows. Yes. As for those steeped in Our knowledge, who are they? Someone steeped in His knowledge.
He said "Verrasihu". Verrasihu.
Yes. what does it say here what is this those steeped in Our knowledge and the people who have entered through the door of that knowledge say as follows, it says: "Our Lord, we believe; all of it is from Allah. We believe in all that comes from Him," they say, it says. Yes. As for those steeped in Our knowledge: "We believe in it. All verses, clear and veiled, are from our Lord," they say. Only those who use their reason and enter through the door of that knowledge know these, it says. Yes.
