Yusuf 3: (Oh Muhammad!) By revealing the Qur’an to you, We inform you about the incidents of past nations in the most beautiful manner. Verily, before this, you were among those who did not know about these.

Surah Yusuf, verse 3: O Muhammad, by revealing this Quran to you, the news of past nations We tell you in the finest way. Of past nations. We said it is a history, didn't we? Allah Almighty is telling history. While telling this history, that there is no god but Him, that He is the absolute owner and power of these worlds — because it is history. He tells what He did to them. Since their Owner is telling us these things, the One who created us is telling us. So by telling history He brings tawhid to light. Yes, by revealing, the news of past nations We tell you in the finest way. The truth is that before this you were certainly among those who did not know this news.

You were among those who did not know. Why? Because, since Allah Almighty (?) with His essence, if the Prophet had known all of it — he already knew it, they would say, he is telling (?). Well, but his telling what he did not know, and since in the books of past people, of past people, these were also written — what Allah Almighty told, through the Prophet, about past people being written in their books, when they heard it from the Prophet's mouth, some believe, and some, because he did not come from among their own people, to the Prophet (?) and do not accept his prophethood. So this is Allah Almighty — whether people accept His essence or not — proving His existence over people, continuing His sovereignty, that there is no god but Allah, and by having the states of past peoples told, proving the Prophet's messengership too, that he is Allah's servant and messenger.

Allah Almighty is revealing the Holy Quran to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and confirms his prophethood, and that the Holy Quran is the truth, that it is Allah's word, by giving the news of past communities, we said. At the same time He confirms His essence, that there is no other god besides Him. The truth is that before this — that is, before the Holy Quran was revealed to you — you were not aware of the states of these communities. So, in Our revealing these to you in the most accurate way, that Allah, eternal without beginning and without end, is the Owner of what He created, and that there is no other god besides Allah, and that you, Muhammad (peace be upon him), are a true prophet, that the Holy Quran is Allah's word, confirming this, so that for the believers it may be a lesson, We tell it, He says.
