Translation

When they agreed to bring him and throw him to the bottom of a well, We revealed to Joseph, saying; “Verily, you will inform them about this deed of theirs, while they will not notice.”

Tafsir

According to this verse, Joseph was aware that he would be thrown into the well. He did not raise his voice against this trap as it was revealed to him by his Lord that he would be saved from this trap and Joseph would attain great positions. In this verse, when they unanimously decided to throw him into the bottom of the well, it is clear that Allah (swt) informed Yusuf (as) of this situation before he was thrown into the well.

Moreover, Hazrat Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' was also aware of this. Therefore, since it was Allah's will that the series of events that had befallen Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' should be completed, and since no one can oppose Allah's will, and since Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' would be protected by his Creator, Hadrat Jacob 'alaihis-salâm' had no choice but to submit to the events. In order to prevent any harm from being done to Joseph by his sons, he showed his sons the ways of preparing this trap. The fact that he said that if I send Joseph with you, the wolf will snatch him is an example of how to fabricate a lie. The fact that Hazrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' and his father Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' were aware of these events is clear and unambiguous.

According to some narrations, Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' was nine years old when he was thrown into the well, and according to another narration, he was seventeen years old. However, it is one of the more accurate reports that Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' was nine years old. Because in the twenty-first verse of this Surah (The man who bought him in Egypt said to his wife, "Cherish him and take good care of him"), the age when a person needs care is the age of a child. In the next verse it is said (when Yusuf reached the age of maturity), which means that he grew up with these people as a child, and it is more accurate news that Yusuf was thrown into the well when he was a child, that is, when he was nine years old.

Allah's saying about Joseph that We revealed to him is the good news that he would be given Prophethood even at a young age.

What is said in the video

Well, in verse 15: when they took him away and unanimously agreed to throw him to the bottom of the well, We revealed to Joseph: by oath, you will tell them of this deed of theirs while they do not perceive it — while he was still in the well. Yes.

We revealed: you will tell them of it. Now, when Joseph (peace be upon him) suffered loneliness in the well — they left him in the well and went away. When he suffered loneliness, Allah Almighty is with Joseph (peace be upon him), revealing to him, and he feels that He is beside him. In that state of his he is comforted. Now, I lived this event, this event. I lived this event. I lived an event similar to this. In Mecca the Honoured, the late — I went on Hajj together with my mother. On our return, the late... I said to my dear mother: we have finished our Hajj. I said, let me get Zamzam water and come back.

Let us go together from here. I had gone in my own car.

Meanwhile I set off; I was going to come to Mecca.

A Turk waved, I stopped. Where to, he asked me. I'm going to Mecca. Will you take me too? Of course, I said, get in my car. I took him; I hadn't gone even five metres. A truck coming the other way hits a Turkish pilgrim and flings him onto my car. My car's side mirror breaks. Now, even though it was clear I hadn't hit him, even though it was clearly proven, there, for a person who dies, if you cannot find (?), then 24,000 riyals in the money of that time is paid. So that the government does not pay it, it finds guilty whoever is beside the dead man. May Allah keep us safe. Anyway, it turns out one should not stop there at all, just go on.

We took him, we're helping, we took him to the hospital. Now the doctor says, the patient says — he is wounded, not dead yet — this man is not at fault, he says, this one did not hit me, he says. He says this, and the report is written up this way.

One of the doctors, in their court: let us release this man, this is shameful, he did no such thing. They all decide, one (?) says no. We cannot release him.

And there this is loaded onto our backs. A doctor named Abbas, how hard he tries: he is innocent, we took a statement from the man, even though he said this man is not at fault, they keep us there.

Of course, there our prayer also gets its answer. O Lord, I deserved a (?), let me stay here, I said. That's how our (?) are. This is how it stays upon you. Well, I was seized by terror. That is, I am in bewilderment. I went into prison too. Meanwhile, though, I sent my mother off. I said, you go, I will stay here. The poor woman, may she rest in peace, said no, I will stay (?) you. I said, no, you go, I'll manage here. But when I went into prison I was in bewilderment. Bewilderment. Such a fever came over me, I was not in my right mind. Now what will become of me? I mean, what am I? What have I become?

Did I commit a sin? Did I do a good deed? Should I have left? And so on.

In that bewilderment I am thinking, lost in thought like this. Lost in thought. At that moment Allah Almighty, through inspiration, said: look at Me, look, He said. Look — where should I look, I say. My eyes are closed, but this is spiritual. I had passed into the realm of (?). Look, He said, look toward your right side, He said. I said, I can't see anything. Look very carefully, He said. I am in such a bewildered state, I have opened my eyes, in that bewildered state, to me like that, there is a manifestation in his own form.

All those things inside me passed, went away. In fact, at that moment these words poured from my mouth. I said this, that is. I said: am I Allah? I said this, that is. And after that I came to myself. My Allah, do not call me to account for what I said (?), I said. Now, against this we say that we must go about veiled, veiled. Going about veiled: people... Allah Almighty, at that time, to that person (?), by resenting that person or by colliding with them, people take a blow. For this reason they use a veil, so that no one takes a blow from them. We do not use a veil, but we insult those who collide with us, so that it may be a curtain for him.

So that he suffers no harm from us. Yes. And based on this I say: if I die, I say, since that manifestation took place, perhaps (?) the earth will not consume us either, I say. I say it based on that. So, with that manifestation, with my state, with His manifestation to us, all the unease in my heart went away, and pleasantly I found peace. I was relieved. So Joseph (peace be upon him) too, when his brothers threw him into the well and left, was surely in the same state, because he too is human. He too is in the same state. So Allah Almighty's revealing to him by inspiration — or rather, we will say revealing.

He is a prophet. His revealing to him. Because (?) brings him peace. And let him not think about the rest any more, because he knows that with his Lord (?). So: when they took him away and unanimously agreed to throw him to the bottom of the well, We revealed to Joseph: by oath, you will tell them of this deed of theirs, while they are unaware of it, it says. Yes. Now, by my telling you an event I went through, this is understood better. By the grace and generosity of Allah. According to this verse, Joseph (peace be upon him) knew that he would be thrown into the well. Since it became clear that, saved from this trap by his Lord, Joseph would attain high ranks, he made no sound against this trap.

That this verse says 'when they unanimously agreed to throw him to the bottom of the well' shows that, before he was thrown into the well, Allah Almighty had made this situation known to Joseph (peace be upon him). Moreover, Jacob (peace be upon him) also knows about this matter. For this reason, since the completion of the series of adventures concerning Joseph (peace be upon him) was Allah's will, and since no one can oppose Allah's will, and also since Joseph (peace be upon him) would be protected by his Creator, Jacob (peace be upon him) found no other way but to submit to the events. Because it was his Lord's command.

Yes.

As I tell these things, I live them like this.

As if we are living that time. We are living those events like this; I am moved.

Again, so that Joseph would not be harmed by them, to his children (?) he showed the ways of preparing. His saying 'if I send Joseph with you, the wolf will snatch him' shows them how to make up a lie.

From these events it emerges clearly and plainly that Joseph (peace be upon him) and his father Jacob (peace be upon him) knew about it.

According to the reports, when Joseph (peace be upon him) was thrown into the well he was 9 years old; according to one report it is said he was 17.

However, that Joseph (peace be upon him) was 9 is among the more correct reports. Yes, not seventeen, nine years old. Because he is still a child. If he were seventeen, he would defend himself. Also, as a child they did not value him. If he were seventeen, that caravan would value him and, as a young man, sell him at a higher price. Being nine, being a child, and since no one would claim him, for a price as good as free, there (?) they sell him. Yes, that Jesus (peace be upon him) was 9 is among the more correct reports. Because in verse 21 of this surah, the man who bought him in Egypt said to his wife: value him and look after him well, look, look after him well.

The years in which a person needs care are the years of childhood. And in the next verse, saying 'when Joseph reached maturity' means that he grew up among these people from a young age; that Joseph (peace be upon him) was thrown into the well as a child, that is, at around 9, is among the more correct reports. According to these verses and this situation. Allah Almighty's saying of Joseph 'We revealed to him', even though he was still a child, is the good news that prophethood would be given to him. Does Allah ever speak with people at a young age? Did He not speak with Jesus?

Was the Prophet (peace be upon him) not operated on as a child?

When I was a child, I was a child, for a while couplets came to me, like Yunus Emre's. I used to be embarrassed. I forgot how to speak, I always speak in couplets. I force myself to speak. I don't know, of course, I'm still a child.

Then I saw two moons side by side in the sky. While walking along the road, (?) behind me. I would look (?) to see what it was. I could not see the men. As if they vanished among the crowd.

Also at a young age I would read people's minds. Their minds, what was going through them. I was at a young age. Many events, in actual fact. I lived them as a child. That is why I understand these verses very well. If my Lord raises someone, He raises them like this. Yes, that is, earlier, when people made a covenant with their Lord, in the face of the strength of their wish there, of their covenant, the qualities Allah Almighty gave to him.
