Yusuf 18: They came with false blood on his shirt. He said; “To the contrary, your nafs (ego) has shown to you a bad deed as good. Now, (my duty is) to show patience truthfully. It is only Allah who will help (me) in the face of what you are telling me.”

Translation

They came with false blood on his shirt. He said; “To the contrary, your nafs (ego) has shown to you a bad deed as good. Now, (my duty is) to show patience truthfully. It is only Allah who will help (me) in the face of what you are telling me.”

Tafsir

They smeared fake blood on the shirt of Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm'. The meaning of fake blood here is that they smeared a blood other than the blood of Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' on the shirt and brought it to their father and showed it to him. They said that Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' was eaten by a wolf and this is the shirt left behind. In this way they tried to convince their father. But Hadrat Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm', knowing what had happened, said to them, "On the contrary, your souls have made a bad deed good for you. In other words, you have prepared a trap for Yusuf in this matter. You followed your desires and drove him away from here. He wants to say that he is not dead, he is alive.

Now my duty is to be patient with the truth. In other words, Allah (swt) has written down what people want from Allah (swt) as their destiny. The fact that people live their destiny and that no force other than Allah can change these destinies, and that Allah (swt) declares that He will not change what He has written in the past, and that his father, Ya'qub (peace be upon him), was patient and obedient to Allah (swt) in surrendering to Allah (swt), is a testimony to the fate of Yusuf (peace be upon him).

(When he says, "It is only Allah who can help me in the face of what you are telling me," he is implicitly trying to explain to his sons that he does not believe in the lie they are telling, and he is asking for Allah's help and patience.

Even if a father knows that his child is in safe hands, he is always afraid that something will happen to him because he is unaware of where and where he is going, even at a young age, because he is in the realm of the unseen. Because Allah knows all the unseen. Man, on the other hand, is aware of the unseen to the extent that Allah informs him. Although she was under the protection of Allah, she missed her son Yusuf and asked for Allah's help to be patient with Yusuf's suffering.

What is said in the video

With false blood on his shirt they came. Jacob said: Rather, your souls have made an evil deed seem fair to you. There, he calls it an evil deed. That is, he did not die. You found the trap you set fitting for yourselves, you thought you were doing a good deed. In fact you did an evil deed; it made it seem fair. Your nafs made it seem fair to you. What is left for me now is to be patient as is due. That is, I know he did not die, but our Lord's destiny for Joseph was like this. That is, Joseph's destiny was like this. For our Lord to raise him through a series of adventures — with my handing him over to my Lord, what is left for me now is to wait with beautiful patience, he says.

Against what you describe, only Allah is the one who will help me, he says. Yes. With this verse he tells them that their brother did not die. Look, let us read it again. With false blood on his shirt they came. Jacob said: Rather, your souls have made an evil deed seem fair to you. What is left for me now is to be patient as is due. Against what you describe, only Allah is the one who will help me. They smeared false blood on the shirt of Joseph (peace be upon him). By the false blood here (?): smearing blood other than the blood of Joseph (peace be upon him) on the shirt, they brought it to their father and showed it.

Yes, here we will say 'blood'. What did we say for blood? Let us correct that too.

Yes.

Smearing blood other than the blood of Joseph (peace be upon him) on the shirt, they brought it to their father and showed it. The wolf ate Joseph (peace be upon him). And this is his shirt that was left behind, they said. In this way they tried to convince their father. But since Jacob (peace be upon him) knew what had happened, he said to them: your nafs made an evil deed seem fair to you. That is, in this matter you set a trap for Joseph, you followed your nafs, you took him away from here. He means: he did not die, he is alive. What is left for me now is to be patient as is due. That is, the wishes people asked of Allah, Allah Almighty wrote for people as destiny. That people live these destinies, and that these destinies no power but Allah can change, and that whatever Allah Almighty wrote in pre-eternity He will not change again — since he knows this, with the destiny over Joseph, his father Jacob (peace be upon him) being patient in submission to Allah is his obeying Allah as is due.

And his saying 'Against what you describe, only Allah is the one who will help me': trying to tell his sons implicitly that he did not believe the lie they told, Jacob (peace be upon him) asks Allah for help and patience.

Even if a father knows his child is in safe hands, since the unseen is a realm and, at a young age, he does not know where or which way he has gone, he fears that something will keep befalling him. Because all the unseen, Allah — Allah knows all of the unseen. Man, however, is aware of particulars only as far as Allah makes known. Although he is under Allah's protection, he misses his son Joseph, and to (?) his longing for Joseph (peace be upon him), he asks for Allah Almighty's help. Yes.
