Translation

When he (the husband) saw that the shirt was torn from the back, (he said to the woman), “verily, this is a scheme from you. It certainly is a grand scheme.

Tafsir

When the woman's husband saw that the shirt was torn from the back, his trust in Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' increased and it was understood that the woman had attacked Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm'. In fact, her husband never thought that Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' would do such a thing. Because Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' had grown up with him. He knew his temperament and characters very well. He knows that Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' was trustworthy, honest and never betrayed.

So he turned to her and said to her, "This is a trap prepared for Yusuf by you. Your trap is indeed great. This verse says that your trap is indeed great. It is understood from this verse that Allah, Who created mankind with male and female, has created men with male and female, and men have more desire and desire for women in terms of lust. On the other hand, if a woman is attracted to a man and invites him to her, the male ego, which is attracted to women in terms of lust, cannot easily resist these invitations. Many men compromise their honor and chastity and turn to prostitution.

The devil, who is always tempting man with evil, cannot easily lead a man to fornication because he is invisible to the human eye. But when a woman is of his own sex and they meet face to face, a man cannot easily say no to her invitation to him. And that too if it is a man whom she likes very much. Then the woman's trap will be bigger than the devil. And so it is.

But people who are friends of Allah, who have perfected their souls by fearing Allah, even if they desire women, and even if women invite them, they do not want to be among the wrongdoers by approaching prostitution because they fear Allah. Therefore, they are free from immorality and they enjoin good by forbidding evil. Allah is the friend of such people and they are the friends of Allah. No stain or disgrace will be on their faces in the Hereafter.

What is said in the video

Yes. In verse 28: When her husband saw that Joseph's shirt was torn from behind, he said to the woman: Surely, this is your trap. Your trap is truly great, it says. Truly, the woman's trap is very great. Our forefathers have a saying, too. The woman's guile has beaten the man.

Yes. When the woman's husband sees that the shirt was torn from behind, his trust in Joseph (peace be upon him) grows, and that the woman attacked Joseph (peace be upon him) becomes clear. Anyway, that Joseph (peace be upon him) would attempt such a thing — the woman's husband would never consider it possible. Because Joseph (peace be upon him) grew up with him. He knows his temperament and character very well. He knows that Joseph (peace be upon him) has a trustworthy, honest personality that never betrays, he knows it. As I explained just now, there are some events, there are some people: even if people slander him, or even if they know that he is carrying on with someone, if someone has trusted him and knows his temperament and morals, he says of that person: Never, never would this one do such a thing.

And Allah Almighty says the same in His verse, in fact. To whom does He say it? For whom does He say it? What does He say?

For our mother Aisha. Those who slandered her. Why did they not say, She would not do such a thing, He says. Yes. On this matter, people are very fond of gossip and backbiting. And so the nafs is used to smearing people, to slandering. It enjoys these things. And Satan prods them on. In this way, gossip and backbiting — people adore them. To earn sins. But a person's friend, the one he loves, people who are companions to one another for Allah's sake, about people of upright morals like this, say: This one would never do such a thing. Because if I know him, he is not after this thing, this business, he says, that is.

(?) — her husband says it that way too. Because his morals are upright, he would not expect this of Joseph anyway. So he turns to the woman and tells her: This is a trap prepared by you for Joseph, he says. Yes. A trap. How beautifully it is said. A trap.

Your trap is truly great. In the verse here it is said: Your trap is truly great. What does it say? Surely, he said, this is your trap; your trap is truly great. Yes, your trap is truly great. In the verse here it is said: Your trap is truly great. From this verse it is understood that Allah, who created people male and female — men have greater desire and longing for women in terms of lust. In turn, if a woman inclines toward a man and invites him to herself, the male nafs, which in terms of lust inclines toward women, cannot easily resist these invitations. Many men, compromising their honor and chastity, turn to indecency.

May Allah protect us. Satan, who constantly whispers evil to a person, since he is not visible to the human eye, cannot easily lead a person into indecency. But the woman is of his own kind (?). When they are face to face, to the woman's invitation the man cannot easily say no. And if, on top of that, he is a man she likes very much, then the woman's traps become greater even than Satan's. And indeed it is so. Sometimes Satan cannot deceive people. Satan cannot steer a man toward lust, but a woman can seduce him. Yes. There is a story.

A story on this. A man had withdrawn into seclusion on a mountaintop.

Whatever Satan did, he could not deceive him. The man lived in the hollow of a tree.

(?) in human guise, to a woman he says — to a woman — there's a man over there; if you can deceive him, I'll buy you a pair of red shoes, he says. All right, says the woman. The woman slowly approaches the man, deceives him, and lies with him. The man had children, from another woman. She has the man kill them too, the woman. And finally the woman comes to Satan. Give me the red shoes, she says. Oh no, he says, stay away from me. Take this shoe on the end of the stick, he says. You might lead even me astray, he says. He holds out the shoe on the end of a stick. So, the woman's guile is this great; it beats the man.

May Allah protect us from these. But on whom do their games not work? On whom do they not work? As we explained in the earlier lessons: had We not, it says, shown Joseph (peace be upon him) Our (?), he would have inclined toward her, it says. Yes. Had We not shown Our (?), he would have inclined toward her.

And it says: Indeed, the woman inclined toward him; had he not seen his Lord's warning by a sign, he too would have inclined toward her, it says. When the Prophet says in his hadith, The saint of my ummah is like a prophet of the Children of Israel — the woman's guile cannot come near such righteous servants. If all people were like the one that woman deceived, indecency would run rampant everywhere anyway. Evil would run rampant. A man is one who — if a man is created complete, his name is man. They are men. Let him prevent evil. Let him do away with indecency. Our forefathers were men. They were men.

But not today's men. Today's men — I can't bring myself to say it. I won't say it. In the time of our forefathers, our fathers, if someone committed indecency, they would find him dead at the foot of a (?), at the foot of their (?). Yes, and no one would come asking after him. Those were men. They handed down to us the religion, Islam, like this for 1430 years. We (?) to you. Tomorrow we will be accountable before Allah. Is this a man? Allah created man complete. A woman can make mistakes, a woman can desire. Woman was created lacking. If a man inclines toward a woman, where is his manhood then?

Yes. Then what does he resemble? Allah Almighty says in His verse: They are like four-legged beasts roaming the earth. What difference is left between us and animals? Even though there is the death penalty, even though there is the punishment of stoning, a married man, with a married woman committing adultery, even though there is stoning — where has this person's honor gone? Where has his willpower gone? Yes. Women's games do not work on people with such willpower. And they clean up filth like this. Yes.

We continue our lesson.

But people who are friends of Allah, who have perfected their nafs by fearing Allah, even if they feel desire and longing for women, even if a woman invites these people to herself, because they fear Allah, do not want to spill over into indecency and join the ranks of the wrongdoers. The ranks of the wrongdoers.

Therefore, just as they keep away from indecency, they forbid evil and command good. Allah is the friend of such people. And they are the friends of Allah. What does Allah Almighty say for such people? Hasbünallahu ve ni'me'l-vekîl ve ni'me'l-mevlâ ve ni'me'n-nasîr. A person — what a beautiful thing, it says — what a fine support He is, what a fine friend, what a fine Master, it says. Yes, in the Hereafter neither a stain nor a (?) will touch their faces. Allah Almighty will give them the station of intercession. Among all these righteous servants, they will also enter their Paradise. Yes, they will enter gardens beneath which rivers flow.
