(The ruler said to the women), “what were you up to when you tried to take advantage of Joseph?” The women said, “no! By Allah, we did not see any evil in him.” The wife of the lord said, “now truth has surfaced. I have tried to take advantage of him. Verily, he is among those who say the truth.”

Tafsir

At the request of Hazrat Yusuf, the king gathered the women together and asked them. What was your situation when you wanted to take pleasure from Joseph's soul. When he said to the women, "What was your situation?" meaning, did Yusuf offer you bad relations or did he threaten you, the women said, "By Allah, we did not see any evil from him". In other words, the fact that these women, as human beings, were attracted to Yusuf (peace be upon him) and that they cut their hands with knives out of admiration for Yusuf (peace be upon him) shows their egoistic desire for Yusuf (peace be upon him). The fact that they also confirmed Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' and said that he had done us no harm revealed the truthfulness of Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm'. Moreover, the wife of the saint interjected and said: "Now the truth has come out, I wanted to take advantage of his soul. Surely he is one of the truthful ones". The fact that Zeliha used this word with such courage, that she said, "I wanted to take his desire from Yusuf's soul," meant that all women had the same desire and desire for Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm', but the way the first incident spread was through me, and even those who condemned me after me were inclined to him. In this respect, she said, now the truth has come out. In this way, Zeliha wanted to prepare a cover for her sin and misdemeanor. Moreover, when he said that Joseph was one of those who told the truth, it became clear that Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' had been caught in a trap and that he was innocent.

What is said in the video

51. We have come to the verse. The king said to the women: What was your situation when you sought to seduce Joseph? Now the king gathers the women and, upon Joseph's words, questions them. To the women he said: What was your situation when you sought to seduce Joseph? The women said: Allah forbid, we have seen no evil from him. The wife of the Aziz also said: Now the truth has come out. I had sought to seduce him. Surely he is one of the truthful, she said. Yes, they told everything straight out. Allah — within events, over time, everything gets resolved. Nothing is resolved all of a sudden. Matters that cannot be resolved must be entrusted to time.

Over time, through people's development, the development of the mind, their nafs reaching maturity, or their understanding events better, over time everything gets resolved better.

At Joseph's request the king gathers the women and asks them: What was your situation when you sought to seduce Joseph? Saying to the women, what was your situation, means: did Joseph propose an improper relationship to you or did he threaten you? In response the women said: Allah forbid, we have seen no evil from him. That is, these women, as human beings, being drawn to Joseph (peace be upon him) and, with the knives in their hands, cutting their hands out of admiration for Joseph, shows the (?) of their advances toward Joseph (peace be upon him).

Their also confirming Joseph (peace be upon him) and saying, he did us no harm, brought out the truthfulness of Joseph (peace be upon him). Moreover, the wife of the Aziz broke in and said: Now the truth has come out, I had sought to seduce him; surely he is one of the truthful. Zuleikha's using these words so boldly, her saying, it was I who sought to seduce Joseph — she wanted to express that all the women likewise felt desire and longing for Joseph (peace be upon him), but that the way the first incident spread (?) on me, and that even those who blamed me afterwards were drawn to him. That is why she said, now the truth has come out.

In this way Zuleikha wanted to (?) the sin and fault she had committed. Moreover, when she says Joseph is one of the truthful, it became clear that Joseph (peace be upon him) had faced a trap and was innocent.
