Translation

(Joseph) said, “Make me (the governor) over the treasures of the land. Verily, I will protect (them) well and I have knowledge.”

Tafsir

Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' asked the king to give him the management of the treasury and said that he knew this job very well. However, Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' neither studied nor took a course in these matters. But Allah Himself taught knowledge and wisdom to Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm'.

There are some servants of Allah who have not been trained by anyone, but Allah has spiritually taught them knowledge and wisdom, and these people guide people with the knowledge that Allah has in them. As long as the world continues, such people will come until the Day of Judgment. These are the people whom the Prophet (SAW) said in one of his hadiths: "The Ulema of my ummah are like the Prophets of the tribe of Israel".

Allah (swt) also raised Hazrat Yusuf (as). He taught him knowledge and wisdom. He made him administrator and judge over the treasures of Egypt.

What is said in the video

So in this case, in Surah Yusuf, verse 55: Appoint me over the treasuries of the land, for I will guard them very well and I know this work, said Joseph (peace be upon him).

Joseph (peace be upon him) informs the king that the management of the treasury should be given to him and that he knows this work very well. Yet Joseph (peace be upon him) neither attended a school for these matters nor took a course. But Allah (?) taught Joseph (peace be upon him) knowledge and wisdom. Yes, so a person with no school, with no teacher — if a person's teacher is Allah, he knows everything very well. The laws as well, and Allah's verses too. And those who were raised unlettered — people who cannot understand their state make up, against them, many pretexts, against those people.

In this case, with their own tiny minds, Allah's verses, the verses that are the truth, they cast behind them and try to spread falsehood over the truth with their own minds. So — he neither studied at a school nor has a teacher in the world. Joseph (peace be upon him) says, I know these treasuries very well. As a child he was sold as a slave in Egypt, he stayed in prison for seven years. Such a person will guard the treasuries of Egypt. Of course he will guard them, because Allah is behind him. He will light his way, hold a light for him, tell him of the future, and to the highest degree show people that his word is right, and in this way defend His messenger.

Allah is there. So, Allah has some servants who, although no one has raised them, through Allah teaching them knowledge and wisdom spiritually, with this knowledge of Allah that is in them, guide people. Yes, Allah does not leave the worlds without scholars. As long as the world stands, until the Day of Judgment, such people will come. These people are those of whom the Prophet (peace be upon him), in a hadith, said: The scholars of my community are like the prophets of the Children of Israel — those people.

Joseph (peace be upon him), too, was raised by Allah Almighty.

He taught him knowledge and wisdom; these all correspond to the verses — to whomever We give knowledge We give wisdom, says Allah Almighty. He made him administrator and ruler over the treasuries of Egypt. Now when He says, to whomever We give knowledge, the prophets are excepted. Because they receive revelation, and they receive knowledge too. When He says, to whomever We give knowledge, He means His servants, all His servants, that is, He means these people He created; among the people He created those who are close to Allah, who gave their covenant well, who in the world of the hereafter are personally friends of their Lord, to these people — so, to whomever We give knowledge — that is, those close people, who have a character able to enter the nafs radiya and who are righteous servants, to these people We give knowledge and alongside this knowledge We also give wisdom, He says.

To whomever We give knowledge, We give wisdom. That is, it does not stop at knowledge alone. Knowledge tells things as they are, but what meaning it comes to, with which meaning it fits — that is wisdom. Through its wisdom — before this wisdom all the verses connect with one another, and it becomes clear why this verse, in what meaning, for what purpose it was said. And that is what wisdom is. Yes.
