Tafsir
Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm said to his sons: When you asked me for Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm', I had no confidence in you. Because I was afraid that you would make enmity against him. Finally, what I feared came to pass. Now you are asking me for Benjamin. But I will send him with you and entrust him to Allah, not to you.
Because (Allah is the best protector. He is the most merciful of the merciful). People protecting themselves or each other is only a precautionary measure. Whatever is destined for man, man will surely experience it. By reminding his sons of this point, Hadrat Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' intended that they should also put their trust in Allah. For Allah is the best of those who pity and have mercy. Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm knew that Allah does not put on people a burden that they cannot bear.
Furthermore, Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' is a Prophet. Allah taught him knowledge. With the knowledge Allah had taught him, he knew that Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' was alive and well. But people believe only in what their eyes see. They are too short-sighted and short-thinking to see Allah's actions on people. In this respect, Allah says in His verse, "Do you never think?", "Do you never contemplate?

To verse 64 we come. Jacob said: as much as I trusted you before about his brother Joseph, that much will I trust you about this one too. I entrust him only to Allah. Allah is the best protector, He is the most merciful of the merciful, he says. The meaning here: I will send Benjamin with you, I will give him, but just as I entrusted Joseph to you, so I entrust this one to you too, and I do not trust you at all. But I trust Allah, he says. Allah is the protector of those He loves, he says. Jacob (peace be upon him) said to his sons: when you asked me for Joseph (peace be upon him), I had no trust in you at all.
Because I feared you would show him some hostility. In the end, what I feared befell me. Now you ask me for a (?). But I will send him with you. Not to you, I will entrust him to Allah, he says. Not to you, I will entrust him to Allah. Yes. Because Allah is the best protector. He is the most merciful of the merciful. People protecting themselves or one another is only a precaution. Whatever is in a person's destiny, that person will surely live it. So Jacob (peace be upon him), reminding his sons of this point, wished that his sons too would put their trust in Allah. Because Allah is the best of those who pity and show mercy.
Jacob (peace be upon him) knows that Allah does not lay on people's backs a burden they cannot bear. Moreover, Jacob (peace be upon him) is a prophet. Allah taught him knowledge. With the knowledge Allah taught him, he knew that Joseph (peace be upon him) was alive and well. But people believe only what their eyes see. They are so short of reason and reflect so little that they cannot see Allah's events upon people. In this respect,
to people so short of reason and so unreflective that they cannot see Allah's events, Allah, in His verse: Do you never think? Do you never reflect? says. Yes.
