“I swear by God, you also know that we did not come to make mischief on earth. And we are not thieves.”
Tafsir
Yusuf's brothers swear by Allah and say to them: By Allah, you know very well what we have come here for. We do not intend to make mischief in the land or to steal this and that. Such actions and behaviors do not befit us. They say we are not thieves either.
What is said in the video
(?) By Allah, you too know that we did not come to spread corruption on earth. And we are not thieves, they said. Of course they are not thieves. It's a game Joseph (peace be upon him) played to keep Benjamin with him. They know it too. The sons of Jacob (peace be upon him) are not people who value material things or anything else and have a character that would commit theft; they are not. Joseph's brothers swear to them in Allah's name. They say: By Allah. Yes. You know very well for what purpose we came here. Our intention is not to spread corruption in the land or to steal anyone's property.
Such acts and behavior do not befit us. And we are not thieves, they say.
