(Their father) said, “no! Your nafs (self-ego) has led you to (commit) this deed. Now, (it is up to me to show) a beautiful patience. We may hope that Allah will bring all of them to me. Allah is Aleem (All-Knowing) and Hakeem (Ultimately-Wise).
Tafsir
When the sons of Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' came to him with their provisions from Egypt, they told their father about these events as they had happened. Then Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' did not believe what his sons said. The reason for this disbelief was because of the trap they had set for Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' earlier. Because according to Egyptian law, a thief is punished with beating. According to the law of Jacob, when a thief is caught, he is made to work for the man he stole from for a year, and how did this Saint know that the thief would be a prisoner according to our law? Their father said to them: Your souls have driven you to such a deed and it is up to me to be patient.
Since Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' was a Prophet, Allah (swt) revealed some events to Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm'. In this respect, since Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' had knowledge, he knew that his sons were alive, but their separation saddened Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' and he prayed after them as follows. It is hoped that Allah will bring them all to me.
For He is the Knower, the Wise. So in the face of such separation and difficulties in these events, Allah will surely change the end to good. Because He is the Possessor of Wisdom. Events that seem to be evil are manifested in favor of people. This is in Allah's knowledge. It is because He has wisdom. Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' also clings to the causes. The dreams and signs that were seen showed that they were alive. In this respect, others cannot know what Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' knows. Since Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' spoke the truth, those who had given up on them did not care about Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm''s speeches.
What is said in the video
Yes, in verse 83 too, their father said: No, your souls have led you into such a deed. What falls to me now is a beautiful patience. Perhaps Allah will bring them all to me. For He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Yes.
When the sons of Jacob (peace be upon him) took their provisions from Egypt and came to him, they tell their father these events just as they happened. Thereupon Jacob (peace be upon him) does not believe what his sons say. This disbelief stems from the trap they had earlier set for Joseph (peace be upon him). Because according to Egyptian law, a thief is punished with a beating. Jacob (peace be upon him) knows this. To him — the thief is given a beating as punishment.
According to the sacred law of Jacob (peace be upon him), when a thief is caught, for one year he is made to work for the man he wronged. That this helpless thief would become a captive under our laws — how would he know? he says now; he is thinking. Their father said to them: your souls have led you into such a deed. What falls to me now is a beautiful patience. That is, you told him our law, he says. Yes. And indeed they did tell it. That is, Joseph made them say it.
Since Jacob (peace be upon him) is a prophet, Allah Almighty Yes.
reveals certain events to Jacob (peace be upon him). In this respect, since Jacob (peace be upon him) also possesses knowledge, through this knowledge he knows his sons are alive. But the separation grieves Jacob (peace be upon him), and afterwards he prays like this: Perhaps Allah will bring them all to me. He knows. That he is alive. He will bring them all to me, he says. For He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. That is, in these events, in the face of so much separation and hardship, Allah will surely turn the end into good. Because He is All-Wise. Even for a prophet, being separated from his children and longing like this for years is not an easy thing.
Prophets are subjected to the greatest afflictions. After them, the saints, the scholars. Yes.
For He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. That is, in these events, in the face of so much separation and hardship, Allah will surely turn the end into good. Because He is All-Wise. Events that look like evil manifest in people's favor. This is in Allah's knowledge. It comes from His being All-Wise. Jacob (peace be upon him) also holds on to the means. The dreams seen and the signs shown show that they are alive. In this respect, what Jacob (peace be upon him) knows, the others cannot know. Because Jacob (peace be upon him) spoke the truths, those who had lost hope of them would not take the words of Jacob (peace be upon him) seriously.
That is, those who had given up hope of Joseph — when Jacob (peace be upon him) said "my children are alive," in response they would not consider his words important. The reason: as if he has grown old now, doesn't know what he is saying, speaks out of longing for them — something like that.
