Translation

Bring this shirt of mine to my father and place it to his face, he will be able to see again. And bring your entire family to me.”

Tafsir

Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' learned about the situation of their father from his brothers, and he was also aware of many events when Allah (swt) revealed to him that he was a Prophet. With Allah's permission and favor, Hazrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' showed a miracle and took off his shirt and handed it to his brothers in order to inform them and his brothers that he was a Prophet. This is my shirt. Deliver it to my father and give it to him. Let him rub my shirt on his face and his eyes will see, then bring your whole family to me.

According to the narrations, Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' used to feast his brothers morning and evening. His brothers were bored, remembering what they had done before. His brothers sent a messenger from among themselves to Hadrat Yusuf and said: You invite us to eat morning and evening. But we are ashamed of you because of what we have done against you. Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' replied to them as follows. Until now, the Egyptians had always looked at me with their first eyes and said, 'We praise Allah who has raised a slave who was sold for twenty dirhams to this level. Now, thanks to you, I am honored because they have realized that I am your brother and the grandson of a great Prophet like Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm'. He kindly tells them that their brothers should not be ashamed. Then Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' called his father to him.

Instead of a son going to his father and visiting him, Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' called his father to his feet. There is a great subtlety here. When Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm', a slave who was sold for a paltry sum of money in the eyes of the people of Egypt, became the vizier of a town like Egypt, and when they learned from his brothers that he was the grandson of Hazrat Abraham 'alaihis-salâm', they valued Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' very much. In this respect, they also wanted to see Hadrat Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm', the father of Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm'.

So Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' sent for his father and prepared a reception worthy of him. According to the narrations, the king and his household and the people of Egypt went out to meet Hadrat Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' and lined up on both sides of the road and the two Prophets met and embraced each other. Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' glorified his father with this behavior and increased his honor. Seeing this, his brothers also prostrated themselves to Allah (swt) in the joy of meeting Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm'. In this way, the dream is complete and the interpretation of the dream is completed when the eleven stars, the moon and the sun make a prostration of thanksgiving to Allah.

What is said in the video

In verse 93 of Surah Yusuf: Take this shirt of mine and lay it on my father's face, his eyes will come to see again, and bring me your whole family, he says. Yes. Just as Joseph (peace be upon him) learned of his father's condition from his brothers, being a prophet, with Allah Almighty informing him by revelation, he is aware of many events as well. That is, that the eyes of Jacob (peace be upon him) had turned white and that he had become unable to see, Joseph (peace be upon him) knows. That is why: Take my shirt to my father, let him rub this shirt of mine on his face, his eyes will come to see, he says.

Being a prophet, with Allah Almighty informing him by revelation, he is all the more aware of many events. By Allah's leave and grace, Joseph (peace be upon him), showing a miracle, so as to make known to people and to his older brothers that he is a prophet, takes off his shirt and hands it to his brothers. This is my shirt. Take it to my father and bring him to me.

Take it to my father, give it to my father, let him rub my shirt on his face, his eyes will see. After that, bring me all your families, he says. According to the narrations, Joseph (peace be upon him) was giving his brothers a feast morning and evening. His brothers, however, felt uneasy, remembering what they had done before. His brothers sent a messenger from among themselves to Joseph and said: You invite us to a meal morning and evening. But we are ashamed before you because of what we did to you. And Joseph (peace be upon him) answered them as follows. Until now, the Egyptians have always looked at me with the eyes with which they first saw me.

And: We glorify Allah, who raised a slave sold for 20 dirhams to this rank he has reached, they would say. But now, thanks to you, I have gained honor. Because they have understood that I am your brother and the grandson of a great prophet like Abraham (peace be upon him), he says. He tactfully addresses his older brothers' shame with them. Besides this, Joseph (peace be upon him) calls his father to him. Instead of a child going to his father to visit him, Joseph (peace be upon him) had his father called to him. There is a great subtlety here. Joseph (peace be upon him): in the eyes of the people of Egypt, besides a slave sold for a worthless sum becoming vizier of a land like Egypt, when they learned thanks to his older brothers that he was the grandson of Abraham (peace be upon him), they held Joseph (peace be upon him) in very high esteem.

For this reason, they wanted to see Joseph's father, Jacob (peace be upon him), as well. So Joseph (peace be upon him), having his father called, himself prepared a fitting welcome for him. According to the narrations, the king and his dynasty, the people of Egypt, going out to meet Jacob (peace be upon him), lined up on both sides of the road. and the two prophets, Jacob (peace be upon him) and Joseph (peace be upon him), met and embraced each other.

With this conduct, Joseph (peace be upon him) exalted his father and increased his honor. Seeing all this, his brothers too, in the joy of being reunited with Joseph (peace be upon him), fell prostrate before Allah Almighty.

In this way the dream he saw was fulfilled. The 11 stars, the moon and the sun making a prostration of thanks to Allah, the dream's interpretation is fulfilled as well.
