When the caravan departed (from Egypt), their father said (to the ones on his side), “if you won’t say that I am crazy, I smell Joseph’s scent.”
Tafsir
Since Hadrat Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm is a Prophet, he knows what people do not know with the permission and grace of Allah. For this reason, when the caravan and Yusuf's brothers set off with the shirt that Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' had sent to his father, Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' said, 'I smell the scent of Yusuf, do not think that I am senile because of what I have said. This is because Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' knows many of Allah's revelations on them as much as Allah wills. Therefore, if a Prophet says something, it is so. Since Allah will not make His messengers ashamed or liars, Allah turns what he says into the truth, even if he says it from himself as a human being. However, such people do not simply say something on their own. They say what they say based on Allah's knowledge, trusting and hoping in their Lord within that knowledge. In this respect, Allah both fulfills the desires of these people and also makes them beloved to His servants.
What is said in the video
When the caravan left Egypt, their father says to those with him: If you won't call me senile, believe me, I can smell Joseph's scent. Yes, Joseph takes off his shirt and gives it to his brother. When his brother brings the shirt to Jacob (peace be upon him), Jacob (peace be upon him) says to his household: If you won't call me senile, I can smell the scent of my Joseph, he says.
Since Jacob (peace be upon him) is a prophet, what people do not know he knows by Allah's permission and grace. For this reason, when the caravan travelling with the shirt Joseph (peace be upon him) had sent to his father and Joseph's elder brothers set out, Jacob (peace be upon him) said: I smell Joseph's scent. Do not consider me senile for saying this. Because Jacob (peace be upon him) knows many of Allah's divine workings over these things to the extent Allah wills. For this reason, if a prophet says something, it is so. Because they do not talk idly, they do not say empty words. Yes, since Allah will not let His messengers be shamed and shown to be liars, even if what he says comes from himself as a human being, Allah turns what he says into reality.
But such people do not easily say a word of their own accord either. They say what they say based on Allah's knowledge, trusting their Lord within this knowledge and hoping in Him. For this reason Allah both brings about these people's wishes and also makes them beloved to His servants.
