(His sons) said, “Oh our father. Ask (Allah) for forgiveness of our sins because we truly were wrongdoers.”
Tafsir
The sons of Hadrat Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' were very remorseful and regretful for what they had done to Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm'. They appeared before their father and said. O our father! Ask Allah to forgive our sins for us. That is to say, we set this trap for Yusuf, we separated him from you and caused you pain and sorrow, and we caused Yusuf to suffer longing and pain. Indeed, we were among the ignorant, and for this we were sinners. Now we understand that Yusuf was indeed far superior to us. The meaning here is that they accepted his Prophethood.
That is how a person becomes a sinner if he follows the devil and his ego. No evil is hidden or concealed. And Allah will not withhold the reward of those who do righteous deeds and those who are patient and do good deeds. Finally, when the evil deeds of the evil-doers are revealed, they will be among those who will be humiliated in humiliation.
In the story of Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm', Allah (swt) has enlightened the people by narrating many events that can serve as an example.
What is said in the video
His sons said: O our father, ask Allah to forgive our sins for us,
for we truly were sinners. They all know it; of course they lied to their father. Because they envied Joseph, they tell their father that Joseph died. Now they confess. O our father, ask Allah to forgive our sins for us. For we truly were sinners. The sons of Jacob (peace be upon him) became very remorseful because of what Joseph (peace be upon him) had done. And they felt regret. Coming before their father, they say: O our father, ask Allah for us to forgive our sins. For we truly were sinners. That is, we prepared this trap for Joseph. We separated him from you, drowned you in pain and caused your grief.
We left you longing for Joseph and made you suffer. Truly we were among the ignorant, and so we became sinners. Now we understand that Joseph is truly far above us. Here the meaning of "above" is that they accept his prophethood. So if a person follows Satan and his nafs, he becomes a sinner in this way. No evil stays covered and hidden. In the end, the reward of those who act rightly, who are patient and do good deeds, Allah does not let go to waste. Finally, when the evil deeds of those who do evil come to light, then in a (?) they become among the humbled.
So Allah Almighty, in the story of Joseph (peace be upon him), by telling many events to take lessons from, has held up a light before people.
