Yusuf 100: He had his mother and father sit on his throne and all of them prostrated (for reuniting). (Joseph) said, “oh my parents, this is the interpretation of my dream (that I saw) before. Allah has made it come true. And verily, Allah has shown goodness to me because Allah has brought me out of prison and Allah has brought you out of the desert after Shaytan has put mischief between me and my brothers. Verily, Allah shows goodness to whoever desires. Verily, Allah is Aleem (All-Knowing) and Hakeem (Ultimately-Wise).

Tafsir

Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' brought his parents to his seat and placed them there. That he made them sit on his throne: He welcomed them to his residence and gave them a place there. Thereupon, his parents and brothers prostrated themselves in thanksgiving to Allah, rejoicing to be reunited with Joseph and Benjamin. They were also happy that they had come from the desert to a land like Egypt, and that they had come from the desert to the city, from drought and famine to abundance.

(Yusuf said: "O my father, this is the interpretation of the dream I had before.") When Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' was a child with his father, he saw eleven stars, the sun and the moon prostrating themselves before him. His father said to him, 'Do not tell this dream of yours to anyone, lest they turn against you. Here is what happened to Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' after his brothers threw Yusuf into the well and left, and finally, Allah, who programmed all these worlds, showed a little bit of the events that would happen to Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' through the dream world as a part of His program, and the prostration of gratitude to Allah for the reunification of his mother, father and brothers with Allah's mercy is translated into reality. Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm said, "This is the interpretation of the dream I had earlier. He said, "My Lord has fulfilled him," and gave people a good lesson.

(Indeed, my Lord has favored me (with much). He brought me out of the dungeon and brought you out of the desert after the devil had made a breach between me and my brothers). The dungeon here has two meanings. In the first meaning: My brothers threw me into the well, and after that my life became dark and everything became a dungeon for me. Because I was separated from my parents and I was alone and I did not know what to do. Allah rescued me from there and raised me up to what I am today. The second meaning is that when I reached the age of youth and puberty, they set a trap for me to do evil. But I feared Allah and did not approach their evil, so they threw me into the dungeon. Allah saved me from the dungeon through the interpretation of dreams that He taught me. This means that when he says, "He saved me from the dungeon", he is referring to the events that happened to Joseph 'alaihis-salâm' from the time he left his father Ya'qub 'alaihis-salâm' until he reached a certain position.

(My Lord brought you out of the desert after Satan had made a breach between me and my brothers). So Satan gave them temptation to drive a wedge between me and my brothers. And my brothers were tempted by Satan and they did evil. They made enmity against me. They prepared a trap for me and threw me into the well. But because my Lord has bestowed upon me many things, He has delivered me from them, and He has delivered you from the desert to salvation and from famine to abundance. (Verily, my Lord is gracious to whom He wills). Whoever fears Allah and seeks Allah's mercy, Allah will bestow on him bountifully and make his world and Hereafter prosperous.

(Verily, He is All-Knowing, All-Wise). Since Allah (swt) created the universe out of nothing, He knows every particle of it, because He is the Possessor of knowledge. He is also the Wise. At the end of all these events, after all the hardship and longing, He has brought the matter to a happy end and left a good example for all people until the Day of Judgment as long as the world lasts. God has shown His omnipotence.

What is said in the video

Here in verse one hundred there is a mistake. In verse one hundred, this part, first the wrong one,

let us read it. Then let us read the right one. Verse one hundred: He raised his parents onto his throne and seated them. And they all fell down in prostration for him, because they were reunited with him. Joseph said: O my dear father, this is the interpretation of the dream I saw before. My Lord has made it come true. Truly, my Lord has been very gracious to me. For I— He brought me out of prison. And after Satan had sown discord between me and my brothers, He brought you from the desert. Surely your Lord is gracious to whom He wills. Indeed, He is the All-Knowing. The All-Wise. Here it says 'your Lord, to whom He wills', whereas: your Lord is gracious to the one who wills. Indeed, He is the All-Knowing.

The All-Wise. Yes.

Joseph (peace be upon him) brought his mother and father to his residence and settled them there. Saying he seated them on his throne means that he hosted them in his own residence and gave them a place there. Thereupon his mother, father and brothers, in the joy of being reunited with Joseph and Benjamin, fell down in prostration of thanks to Allah. Also, coming from the desert to a land like Egypt, coming down from the desert to the city, from drought and famine to plenty, was another joy for them. Joseph said: O my dear father, this is the interpretation of the dream I saw before. As a child, when he was with his father, Joseph (peace be upon him) had seen eleven stars, the sun and the moon prostrating to him.

And his father had told him: Never tell this dream of yours to anyone, or they will then be hostile to you, he had said. After Joseph's brothers threw Joseph into the well and left, what Joseph (peace be upon him) went through (?) from his father, and finally, that the One who programs this whole universe, Allah, as a part of His program, through the world of dreams showed Joseph (peace be upon him) a glimpse of the events to come: his mother, father and brothers, by Allah's mercy, being reunited with one another and falling down in prostration of thanks to Allah, turned into reality and lived. Joseph (peace be upon him) saying: This is the interpretation of the dream I saw before; my Lord has made it come true — this gives people a fine lesson to learn from.

Truly, my Lord has been very gracious to me. For He brought me out of prison. After Satan had sown discord between me and my brothers, my Lord brought you from the desert.

Now, how did Allah Almighty bring Joseph (peace be upon him) out of prison?

He taught me through dream interpretation. According to the dream the king saw — no one could interpret that dream. With the dream interpretation that Allah Almighty had taught Joseph (peace be upon him), when Joseph (peace be upon him) interpreted the king's dream, the king said: This is the meaning of my dream, and brought Joseph out of prison — this came about, within Allah's power, through the interpretation of dreams He had taught. Yes, that is it. Of course it was Allah Almighty who brought him out, but. If he had not been able to interpret those dreams and had been slandered, he would have rotted away there. And no one would have remembered him.

The prison here has two meanings. In the first meaning: My brothers threw me into the well. After that my life grew dark and everything around me became a prison. For I was separated from my mother and father and was left alone. I did not know what to do. He is saying: Allah saved me from there and raised me to my present position. In the second meaning: When I was young and reached puberty, they set a trap for me to commit evil. But I, Allah's— because I feared Allah, I did not go near their evil. Thereupon they threw me into prison. He is saying: With the dream interpretations Allah taught me, He saved me from prison.

So from this it is understood that by saying 'He saves me from prison', Joseph (peace be upon him), telling what happened to him from the time he was separated from his father Jacob (peace be upon him) until he reached a certain position, means these situations. After Satan had sown discord between me and my brothers, my Lord brought you from the desert. So Satan tempted my brothers to drive a wedge between them and me. And my brothers, falling for Satan's whispering, did evil. They acted with hostility toward me. They set a trap for me and threw me into the well. But because my Lord has been very gracious to me, just as He saved me from those places, He has also brought you from the desert to safety, from famine to plenty.

Surely my Lord is gracious to the one who wills. Whoever fears Allah and wishes for Allah's mercy, Allah grants those people abundant gifts. He makes their world and hereafter flourish.

Indeed, He is the All-Knowing. Of course Allah Almighty created all these worlds from nothing. He knows, within very fine wisdom, what He created them for. Of course He knows everything very well. He is the All-Wise. Since Allah Almighty created the universe from nothing, He knows every particle of it as it truly is. For He is the Possessor of knowledge. And at the same time He is the Possessor of wisdom. After so many events, at the end of the toil, hardship and longing endured, He brought the matter to a happy end and, as long as the world stands, until the Day of Judgment, left all people a fine example. Allah has shown that He has power over all things.
