Oh my Lord! You have given me (my share) from possessions and You taught to me the interpretation of matters (seen in dreams). Oh, the One who has created the heavens and the earth. You are my Owner on earth and in the hereafter. Make me die in the state of a Muslim and include me among the salih.”
Tafsir
Then Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm prayed to Allah (swt) for all the blessings he had received from Allah (swt). O Allah, You have given me my share of the property. In other words, according to the verse, "The inheritance of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah", although all this creation is yours, you have given me as much as I need from your property for the comfort of our bodies in the realm of property that you sent us to keep ourselves as witnesses to you and the world around us in a temporary life.
You also taught me the interpretation of the events seen in dreams and made me knowledgeable. O Allah, who created this world out of nothing! Be my master in this world and in the Hereafter. For there is no creator other than You and no God other than You. You are the owner of all Your creatures, be my owner too. Do not separate me from You. For I have surrendered to You, I trust in You alone, I expect help from You alone. O Allah, do not leave me alone with my nafs. Kill me as a Muslim and add me to your righteous servants, your servants who love you. He wanted to show that he had placed his trust in Allah alone by expressing his gratitude to Him.
What is said in the video
Verse 101 of Surah Yusuf, yes.
O my Lord, You have given me my share of dominion, and You have also taught me the interpretation of events seen in dreams — Joseph is praying. O Creator of the heavens and the earth, You are my Protector in this world and in the hereafter. Let me die as a Muslim and join me with the righteous. If a prophet prays like this, then I wonder how people in our situation, without fearing Allah, without shame, in this worldly abode, laugh and play, and do not (?) what Allah gives and give thanks to Allah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) says in his hadiths: If you knew what I know, he says, you would weep much and laugh little, he says.
Yes.
If a prophet prays like this, how should we not pray, in our state? How should we not turn back to Allah? How should we not repent and seek forgiveness? What does he say? A prophet: O my Lord, You have given me my share of dominion. That is, You made me vizier, You raised me, You made me valuable in people's eyes. And You have also taught me the interpretation of events seen in dreams. You made me a spiritual person, or a possessor of knowledge. O Creator of the heavens and the earth, You are my Protector in this world and in the hereafter. Not only his; Allah is the Protector of all of us, of all His creatures.
But he means himself: You are my Protector. He has surrendered so fully to Him, to Allah Almighty: You are my Protector. He saw me as a Muslim and joined me with the righteous, he says. Joined me with the righteous. Thereupon Joseph (peace be upon him), in the face of all the blessings he had received from Allah Almighty, prays to Allah Almighty.
O Allah! You have given me my share of dominion. That is, according to the verse: The inheritance of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah. Although all these created things are Yours, in a transient life in the world, in the realm of dominion to which You sent us to bear witness of ourselves to You and to those around, You have bestowed on me from dominion as much as needed for the comfort of our bodies. You gave me my share. You also taught me the interpretation of events seen in dreams. You made me a possessor of knowledge. O my Allah, who brought this universe into being from nothing. Be my Protector both in this world and in the hereafter.
For there is no creator other than You, and no god other than You. You are the Protector of all Your creatures. Be my Protector too. Here a couplet that a saint said comes to my mind.
He says: O my Lord! Everyone in the world has someone. As for me, he says, I have no one in the world. O Someone of all someones! Be my someone, he says. So this is 'kes'. Everyone in the world has a protector, a relative, an acquaintance, someone to trust. But I have no one in the world, he says. I have no one like that whom I trust. I have no protector. O Protector of protectors, he says, be my Protector, he says. Yes.
For there is no creator other than You, and no other god besides You. You are the Protector of all Your creatures. Be my Protector too. Do not separate me from Yourself. For I have surrendered to You. I have trusted in You alone. I have expected help from You alone. O my Allah, do not leave me alone with my nafs. Let me die as a Muslim and join me to Your righteous servants, Your servants who love You — so he prayed to Allah Almighty. Offering Him his debt of gratitude, he wanted to express that he had put his trust in Allah alone. Yes.
