These are among the unknown (ghayb) news (about Joseph). We are revealing them to you. You were not with them when they plotted on their matter conspiringly.
Tafsir
Allah (swt) told the Prophet (s.a.w.) that this is among the news of the unseen: Thousands of years have passed, some generations have passed away, some traces have been closed, but Allah, the living and the living, the eternal and the everlasting, is aware of everything, so He told this news to the Prophet (pbuh) without anything being lost or covered up or forgotten. The reason why Allah (swt) narrated this event vividly to the Prophet (s.a.w.) is so that when people are aware of these events of the unseen, they may draw parables from them and believe in the One and only Allah, the Creator of the worlds, and realize that you are a Prophet, sent by me as a messenger. Otherwise you were not with them. You didn't know this unseen either.
You were not with Joseph's brothers when they cheated him, so that you could know these things. So this is a parable that was revealed to the Prophet (PBUH) by Allah through a simple revelation, so that people can take an example from it.
What is said in the video
Verse 102 Verse 102 of Surah Yusuf Now what He said at the very beginning, Allah Almighty ties up here. What does He say? This is from the tidings of the unseen, He says. This story of Joseph is from the tidings of the unseen. Here He ties this up. We reveal it to you, He says. To whom? To the Prophet (peace be upon him). You were not with them when they decided their affair by scheming, that you should know these things, He says. Yes.
So that Allah Almighty is self-subsisting, that He is Huve'l-evvelü ve'l-âhiru ve'z-zâhiru ve'l-bâtın, that there is no god other than Him — how beautifully this symbolizes it. The events (?) from Adam, with the prophets (?), up to the time of the Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad (peace be upon him), and what happened in that time too — His making them known through the unseen, with verses, to the Prophet (peace be upon him) — that our Lord is the absolute power that created the worlds and their absolute owner, how beautifully this proves it to us. Yes. Allah Almighty saying to the Prophet (peace be upon him): This is from the tidings of the unseen — thousands of years had passed, some generations had died out, traces had vanished, but Allah, the Ever-Living, eternal without beginning or end, being aware of everything, with nothing lost in His presence and nothing covered over and forgotten, these tidings to the Prophet (peace be upon him) He has told. The reason Allah Almighty told this event to the Prophet (peace be upon him) so vividly is that when people become aware of these unseen events, drawing lessons from them, they believe in the One who created the worlds, Allah, and realize that you too are a prophet, sent by Him as a messenger.
Otherwise you were not with them; nor would you have known this unseen, He says. When Joseph's brothers schemed against Joseph, you were not with them, that you should know these things. So this story is one made known entirely by Allah, through pure revelation, to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and told so that people may take a lesson from it.
