Tafsir
People who do not believe in Allah and the Prophets say, 'What if a calamity befalls us from Allah or He destroys us? The Prophets say, 'Surely Allah is the Hearer of what you say. We are waiting and you should wait. Then both sides wait for the punishment from Allah. But the disbelievers who do not believe in Allah and the Hereafter mock the Prophets. They say, "Where is the punishment of your Lord? Then their defiance of Allah will continue until they become a people who transgress. Allah holds them as witnesses against themselves. Meanwhile the Prophets. When they despair, fearing the delay of a chastisement from Allah, the chastisement of Allah will come upon these people. But those who believe in Allah and the Prophet will be saved before this punishment comes, except for those who expect salvation from Allah. Allah saves them because of their faith.
And those who mock at Allah and the Prophets, when they see the punishment, it will be useless for them to say that they have believed, and they will perish en masse. Just as the people of Lot, the people of Thamud, the people of Noah, the people of Ad and many other tribes perished. The torment will never be turned away from them.
What is said in the video
Hold on, like this.
Surah Yusuf, verse 110. Let's look at a verse that has been interpreted wrongly. What does it say in Surah Yusuf, verse 110? This wrongly interpreted, wrongly interpreted one — why was it interpreted wrongly? Let's look here. At last, when the prophets lost hope and thought that they had been branded liars, at that time Our help comes to them. Whomever We will is brought to salvation. But Our punishment, Our punishment is never turned back from the guilty people, it says.
Whomever We will, it says. We bring to salvation. Whomever We will. Now a prophet addresses a people. He invites to the truth. Among that people there are of course those who believe in the prophets. The others, the many, did not believe. If punishment has become their due, then with the people who believe in this prophet and in Allah it is not Allah's willing. It is people willing Allah, taking their place on Allah's side. When He says whomever We will, whom does Allah Almighty mean? He means the believers. So the believers are not within Allah's willing. Since, when they made the covenant with Allah Almighty, it was people knowing their Lord by their own will, He says: those who will, We forgive.
That is, those who give their hearts to Us, who obey Us, We rescue from there, take them out; punishment befalls the others, He says. It becomes their due, He says. So what are we saying? At last, when the prophets lost hope and that they had been branded liars thought, thought, at that time Our help comes to them, and whoever wills is brought to salvation. Whoever wills: whoever follows the prophet and Allah. But Our punishment is never turned back from the guilty people. Why is it not turned back? Because when Allah has sent something, He does not turn it back. If it is mercy, mercy; if it is wrath, wrath.
Because with Allah the word appears once. Yes.
People who do not believe in Allah and the prophets: if only some calamity from Allah reached us — that is, you tell us there is Allah, they are all of the same root anyway — if only a punishment came to us, if only He brought about the Last Hour, if only He killed us — and what does this say: if only a calamity reached us, or if only He destroyed us, they say. And the prophets: Surely Allah hears what you say. We are waiting; you wait too, they say. Yes.
Upon this, both sides wait for the punishment that will come from Allah. But the disbelievers who do not believe in Allah and the Hereafter mock the prophets. Where is your Lord's punishment that was supposed to come? they say. Thereupon, until they become a people who overstep the limits, their challenging of Allah continues. Allah holds them as witnesses against themselves. Meanwhile, when the prophets too, fearing the delay of a punishment to come from Allah, are about to fall into despair, Allah's punishment befalls these people. But excepted are the people who, before this punishment came, believed in Allah and the Prophet and who expect from Allah salvation.
They attain success. Allah saves them because of their faith. He brings them out of that land. Apart from them, if they mock Allah and the prophets, then when they see the punishment their saying "I too have believed" is of no use. and they perish all together.
The people of Lot, the people of Thamud, Noah's flood, just as the people of Aad and many other peoples perished, these too, never — from these, punishment is never turned back. Yes.
