Vow to that; in the stories of them (the Prophets and their people), there are many lessons for people who contemplate. This (the Qur’an) is not a word that can be made up. But it is one that confirms the ones before it and that explains everything. For a nation that believes, it is mercy and guidance.
Tafsir
Surely there are many lessons for the Prophets and the nations of the past, for the people who are living. Allah (swt) does not take pleasure in tormenting the past nations by narrating what happened to them. He gives them many warnings. But He destroys those people who do not behave and continue in their rebellion in order to give life to the people who come after them. He spreads truth and justice on the earth by destroying the people who rebel against Allah because they transgress the limits of Allah's prohibitions. Allah does not recommend immorality and indecency. In this respect, there are many lessons for people who live through the destruction of such peoples and those who disbelieved in Allah and denied the Hereafter. Do they not see that the Qur'an is a miracle? It is not the word of a human being. If it were a human fabrication, it would contain many words that do not agree with each other. As a miracle, the Qur'an gives life to the people by giving them the news of the unseen and shedding light before them. Do they not understand that the Qur'an is the Word of Allah, the eternal and everlasting One, besides Whom there is no God? Do they not see that Allah's word is the same in the Holy Qur'an, confirming the Prophets who came before it, like a ray of light from a lamp? The Qur'an is the Word of Allah which explains everything and fulfills the needs of people. It is a Book that has been sent so that people may attain guidance, so that they may be guided before they fall into peace and distress.
It is a mercy and guidance for a people who believe. People are under the mercy of Allah in the realm of property. Allah's mercy is for everyone in the universe. In the Hereafter it is only for the believer. That is mercy for a people who believe: People who believe in Allah and His Prophets while in this world will be under the mercy of Allah in the Hereafter. They know that there they will be included in the group of those who will be saved. An unbelieving people will be deprived of Allah's mercy in the Hereafter. Those who are deprived of Allah's mercy will have no helper or intercessor.
What is said in the video
Surah Yusuf, verse 111. Indeed, in the stories of those past prophets and their communities, for people of understanding there are many lessons. In the previous verse of the surah, what beautiful stories We told about Joseph (peace be upon him). What lessons there were in it. What events Allah Almighty created. What beautiful causes He brought about. And how He brought Joseph out of the well. How, for a worthless sum, to the vizier as an adopted son or into their protection He gave him. And how, since He raised him through the world of dreams, He made him vizier of Egypt. After that, what his brothers had done — after recognising him, their apologising with remorse to Joseph; after Joseph, his father, again like a king, being welcomed: kings and people form two rows, his father comes, the meeting of two prophets — what a beautiful lesson for those who use their reason.
Who could stage this? It is all a program. Within this program, how beautifully Allah Almighty lets us watch the worlds. Yes. What does it say here now? Indeed — He swears an oath. In the stories of the past, of the past prophets and communities there are many lessons for people of understanding. In these lessons, that there is no god but Allah, and that only Allah can create these events, and that nothing other than Allah can be capable of them — this He so beautifully makes known to us, to people of understanding. This Quran is not words that could be fabricated. That is, what our Lord told us through stories, shining a light before every person in a way he can understand, completely — this: if this were made up by a human, you would find many words in it that do not agree with each other, as He says in His verse — His sending the Quran completely, and what does it say? This Quran is not words that could be fabricated.
Rather, it is a book confirming what came before it, explaining everything. One that explains everything, too. How does a book of this size explain it? Well, Allah's word is based on letters. The coming together of letters perhaps brings about the secrets of creation. And these open up meaning by meaning. Meaning by meaning. As I told you before, I was on duty. Two people come to me, like this, in their hands — they know I'm involved with religion. Two people try to mock me.
They call me. I go. They're sitting in the room. Selamün aleyküm. Aleyküm selam.
You say the Quran contains everything. Yes. Within the wet and the dry (?). Within the wet and the dry. All right, he says. A doctoral book written in thousands of pages. A judges' book made of thousands of pages. A book of hundreds of pages in, let's say, the electrical field, in an engineering field. So these thousands of (?) pages, in a Quran this thick, of (?) pages — they're in there? they say.
Knowing their purpose, we still first tried to explain it to them nicely. We said: from our speech Allah Almighty's speech is different. For example: Alif, Lam, Mim, Ta, Ha, Yasin. These are muqatta'at verses, letters, letters. What these letters mean, we cannot know. These meanings, these letters have combined, verses have formed, and before us they shine a light. In these verses, through the combining of letters, there may be a secret of creation, but because our reason is limited, we cannot find it, or cannot know it. In that case, these verses also open up meaning by meaning. When we said that, he said: wait, wait, so now — again he goes back to the start. So you're now saying all of it is inside this book? he says.
When he said that, I told him: look, I have something to say to you, I said. I'll tell you a saying; it isn't mine, I said. Do you know what one of the (?) says? I said. What do they say? he said. If a person does not believe in the Quran and hadith, give him no answer at all, don't talk, close the matter, it says. Well then, goodbye, I said, and left.
Yes. That's why — see how beautifully Allah Almighty puts it now. Indeed, in the stories of the past prophets and communities, for people of understanding there are many lessons. This Quran is not words that could be fabricated. Now we get to the subject. Rather, it confirms what came before it, explains everything, everything. What knowledge do you want? It's all in here. Sir, it is a book that explains. It is a mercy and a guidance for a people who believe. Yes. These are signs. Allah is telling us. He created the worlds. The worlds. Which power and force, which might, which created being would set up the lunar system in the sky?
The earth, moon and sun, while turning around their own axes, will also revolve around the sun. And day and night will come about, and the seasons will come about, and months and years will come about. What force could do this? Well, if you say, did Allah make it?, I'll say this. I say: does the sun have life, reason or a soul? Does this soil called the earth have life, reason or a soul? Or is there such a thing in the moon? In that case, these substances without life, reason and soul — which possessor of reason grasps this — by themselves will set up this world, this order? The sun, moon and earth will set up this order by themselves?
Can you accept this? That this order could be set up? But non-Muslims, because they know that Allah exists, purely to take revenge on Allah and to prove that Allah does not exist, say (?). Millions of years ago this creature was like this, it changed shape, it became like this, they say, and the human — in the face of Allah creating these seventeen thousand worlds, (?) the world, and, so as to complete one another — not like a clock's mainspring but like its gears — creating the world flawlessly, the universe flawlessly, the disbeliever, bursting with rage, proving that Allah does not exist — when he sets out to prove it, his own ignorance, his witlessness, and that these are in the position of the father of the ignorant, the Abu Jahls, he said.
Jahl, that is — how nicely they themselves prove that they are in the position of the father of ignorance. To be able to see this, you need to know Allah's verses.
Yes.
Yes, surely, about the past prophets and communities, in the stories told in these there are many lessons for people who are living.
In telling what befell past communities, Allah Almighty does not take pleasure in punishing them. That is, He does not delight in it. He gives them many warnings. But destroying these peoples who do not mend their ways and persist in their insolence is so that He gives life to the people who come after them. Such peoples persisting in their insolence, trampling the prohibitions Allah has set, overstep the limits; by destroying the peoples rebellious to Allah He spreads truth and justice on earth. Allah does not recommend immorality and insincerity. In this respect, in the destruction of such peoples and of people who did not believe in Allah and denied the Hereafter, there are many lessons for those who are living.
Do they not see that the Quran is a miracle? This is not the word of a mortal. If it were made up by a human, there would be many words in it that do not agree with each other. The Holy Quran, as a miracle, by giving news of the unseen and shining a light before people, gives them life. That is, it gives people life.
So the Quran — that it is the word of Allah, everlasting without beginning or end, besides whom there is no other god — do they not understand? That it confirms the prophets who came before it, and that like a beam of light from a single lamp Allah's word is the same in the Holy Quran too — do they not see? The Quran, explaining everything, meeting people's needs, is the word of Allah. People — guiding them so that they do not fall into (?) and distress — it is a book sent so that people reach guidance. It is a mercy and a guidance for a people who believe. People, in the great realm, are under Allah's mercy.
Allah's mercy in the universe is for everyone. In the Hereafter, however, only for the believers. So His saying (?) a mercy for a people, His saying a mercy for a people who believe: people who, while in this world, believe in Allah and His prophets will, upon moving on to the realm of the Hereafter, be under Allah's mercy. They know they will be among all those who attain salvation there. A people who do not believe, however, will be deprived of Allah's mercy in the realm of the Hereafter. And those deprived of Allah's mercy have neither a helper nor an intercessor, and May Allah Almighty grant us, in Allah's mercy, in the realm of the Hereafter, to go with faith and be welcomed by our Lord with (?), (?) may He do so.
