Those who were given Books from Us are joyful about what has been sent down to you (the Qur’an). But from the groups (that unite against you), there are also some who deny part of it. Say, “I was only ordered to worship Allah and to not associate partners with Allah. I am only calling you to Allah, and return is only to Allah.
Tafsir
The Prophets who came before the Prophet (pbuh) and those who were given the Books and some of the people of the Book rejoiced at the Qur'an revealed to the Prophet (pbuh). That is, they accept Islam. Some of them joined the polytheists and other tribes against the Prophet (SAW) and turned against the Prophet (SAW).
Say I have been commanded. I have been commanded to serve Allah alone and not to associate partners with Him. The Prophet (PBUH) told his opponents that there is no God but Allah and that the idols worshipped by the disbelievers are of no use even to themselves, saying: I have been commanded to serve only Allah, the Lord of the worlds and the only One. I do not look at what you worship and I do not associate partners with Allah. I call you to Allah. All these worlds will come to an end one day and the creatures will be held to account before Allah. In this respect, the Prophet (PBUH) was commanded to invite people to salvation by Allah's command, saying that our fate is to return to Allah and give an account of our deeds before Him.
What is said in the video
Of Surah Ar-Ra'd, the 36th verse: "Those to whom We have given the Book" — the Torah, the Torah and the Gospel —
"rejoice at what has been sent down to you," at the Quran. All of these are the People of the Book who have been honoured with Islam.
"But among the factions united against you there are also those who deny a part of it," it says.
Who are these? Jews, Christians and non-Muslims. "Say: I have been commanded only to serve Allah and not to associate partners with Him." Yes.
Right now, while reading this verse, my heart affirms it. Not my tongue, my tongue. My tongue says it, but my heart affirms it. I serve no one other than Allah. And I never fear anyone other than Allah. I never refrain from speaking the truth.
Yes.
"Say: I have been commanded only to serve Allah and not to associate partners with Him. I call only to Him, and the return is only to Him." Yes. Allah Almighty's command to His prophets and to the heirs of the prophets.
They call only to Allah. They expect nothing from people.
What they expect of them is only that they become servants of Allah.
The reward of such people belongs to Allah.
Of those who, with the prophets who came before the Prophet (peace be upon him), were given books for their peoples, some of these people of the Book rejoice at the Quran sent down to the Prophet (peace be upon him). They rejoice. What does the verse say?
As the Quran is recited, it says, because it proves familiar to them, tears flow from their eyes, it says. Yes. What is it that proves familiar to them? As the meanings of the verses written in the Torah, the Psalms or the Gospel, because it proves familiar to them, it says, they affirm the Quran. Tears flow from their eyes, it says. Yes.
Some of these people who are with the Book rejoice at the Quran sent down to the Prophet (peace be upon him). They rejoice. That is, these accept Islam. Some, however, are with the polytheists and the other peoples who unite against the Prophet (peace be upon him), they are with them. They take a stand against the Prophet (peace be upon him). "Say: I have been commanded only to serve Allah and not to associate partners with Him. I have been commanded." O people! Whatever you do, if, outside what our Lord commanded us, outside our Lord, we follow your desires, we perish like you. Yet we do not follow your desires.
We stay with the sharia ruling that our Lord, the Owner of the worlds, has commanded over us. We stay with it. We never go outside it. Yes.
"Say: I have been commanded only to serve Allah and not to associate partners with Him." The Prophet (peace be upon him), to those who took a stand against him, that other than Allah there is no god, that the idols the deniers worship are of no benefit even to themselves, making this known, said: I have been commanded only to serve the Lord of the worlds, the one Allah, to serve Him. I do not look to what you worship, and I do not associate partners with Allah. I call you to Allah. All these worlds will come to an end one day; the created living beings will be called to account in Allah's presence.
Therefore our end is to return to Allah and, in His presence, to give account of what we did — saying this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was commanded to invite people to salvation by Allah's command. His heirs are doing the same work too.
