Translation

Those who deny Our verses are the deaf and dumb ones, who have stayed in the darkness (of ignorance and denial). Those who desire from Allah to go astray are on the wrong path, those who desire guidance are on the path of guidance.

Tafsir

The people who rebel against Allah (swt), those who disbelieve in Allah (swt) or do not believe in the Prophet and the last Qur'an sent by Allah (swt), these are the deaf and dumb who remain in the darkness of ignorance and disbelief. These people leave the place where the Word of Allah is spoken, or they become like the clouds in the sky in their greed. These are the deaf. Those who do not want to hear the Word of the Truth, who block their ears to the words of Allah, are the enemies of Allah, the dead who live in the world.

These people are also mute. They are not mutes who cannot speak. They are mutes who can speak. Their dumbness is because they do not want to speak the Word of Allah. When the Word of Allah is spoken, they become bored and depressed. These depressions are because they know that people who live by what their nafs likes are sinners in the sight of Allah. Their withdrawal from the place where the Word of Allah is spoken is because they do not want to remember their sins, and they want to be in a state of not remembering Allah by living as their nafs likes. In this state, people become fools who cannot use their intellect. As if by not remembering Allah when they are away from Allah, will they be saved from death and be saved from appearing before Allah on the Day of Judgment? Such people are deaf and dumb in their ignorance.

Whoever has made a covenant with Allah (swt) to deny Allah (swt) has asked Allah (swt) for misguidance. And whoever has made a covenant with Allah in such a way that he knows Allah as Lord, he has asked Allah for guidance. This is what happened in Kalu Bela, when Allah said, "I am your Lord," and people's desires and wishes were written as their destiny. Whoever has wished for misguidance, that person will end his life in this world in rebellion and disbelief against Allah. And whoever He has willed for guidance, he will complete his life in piety and worship, as a servant of Allah.

What is said in the video

Verse 39 This is a verse that has been interpreted wrongly. They have given Allah Almighty attributes. That is, that people say "I am interpreting the Quran" and then ascribe so many attributes to Allah Almighty — my mind cannot grasp it. Look now, what does it say? What does it say? Those who deny Our verses are deaf and dumb, left in darknesses. Correct. Allah leads astray whom He wills. Look, supposedly Allah leads astray whom He wills. Well, Allah Almighty, the most merciful of all in this world of created beings, who sent one percent to this world and said "I kept ninety-nine percent for Myself," and who will judge in the Hereafter — would He ever discriminate among His servants?

While we were created weak, created deficient, Allah Almighty, who says "Spread truth and justice on the earth" — would He ever discriminate among His servants? The Prophet, whom He sent as a mercy to the worlds — creating him and sending him to make the religion of Islam known to all the worlds, to make His being known — the Prophet (peace be upon him), both to the world, to all people, to the universe, to however many people there will be in the future — let him make the religion of Islam known to all of them, and yet, despite his making it known, Allah Almighty should discriminate among His servants and lead them astray even though they know?

I mean, can this be? Can this be? What does it say? The dumb. Allah leads astray whom He wills. Whom He wills. Yes. He guides to the right path whom He wills. How does it make Him discriminate among His servants? How does it make Him discriminate? Well. Where did man's own deeds go? The good deeds and sins we committed as what our own two hands earned — where did they go? We pinned them on Allah right away. We pin it on Allah. And then, just like the Jews, like the non-Muslims: if Allah had willed, He would have created us as one community. He created me like this, (?) like this, so we became like this, he says.

And he ascribes attributes to Allah. Yet he cannot say that what each one earns is what his own two hands have earned. If only we could say that.

Those who deny Our verses are some deaf and dumb people left, through ignorance, in the darkness of kufr — deaf and dumb. Whoever wishes from Allah is upon misguidance, and whoever wishes is upon the right path. That is the meaning of the verse. Whoever wishes from Allah — if I did not wish, if I did not wish, if I did not wish for my Lord, my Lord is not over me; you will wish for Me, your wishing is like this, and you — I created you to know Me, you will surely know Me; if you wish, enter kufr — if He said that, you know, whom He wills; because whom He wills — if I were the one He wills and had also denied Allah — mashallah, God forbid — would He say to me: no, however much you deny Me, deny as you like, I want you, I love you, come over to this side?

I mean, they interpret the verses this absurdly.

Not aware of what the human will is — such people. The human will. Yes. He has said: Those who deny Our verses are some deaf and dumb people left, through ignorance, in the darkness of kufr — deaf and dumb. Now, as for the verse, let us also pay attention to how it comes. What does it say? Those who deny Our verses. Those who deny Our verses. Some deaf and dumb people left, through ignorance, in the darkness of kufr. Now here, with whom is the will? With man. The will is with man. If the will is with man — because it says "those who deny Our verses." Who will deny? (?) God forbid. So here the will is with me.

And among people, some wretched ones left in the darkness of kufr. And right after, it says: Allah leads astray whom He wills. But here you say you put a person's own will in his own hands, and here too, by His willing, you separate people among His servants and — why would you (?) injustice to Allah Almighty, I mean? What an absurd interpretation. If one were right, one would not interpret it this way. Yes. So: Those who deny Our verses are some deaf and dumb people left in the darkness of ignorance and kufr. Who? With the partial will. With this partial will, whoever wishes from Allah is upon misguidance — whoever wishes. Does man wish for misguidance?

If you follow your nafs, if you do what Allah does not want, if you run after evils like drink, gambling and fornication, if you do not say the word of testimony — did Allah tell you, go into misguidance? Allah showed you the truth with His verses. He showed you what is right. Well, in that case, if by your own will you abandon this path that Allah has shown you and throw it behind you, if with your own nafs, your own mind, you go into misguidance, how can you blame Allah Almighty in that case? And you say, Allah leads into misguidance whom He wills.

Yes. You understand, don't you? Yes.

And whoever wishes is upon the right path. Who are these who wish? Who? Those upon misguidance, and ashâbü'l-meş'emeti mâ ashâbü'l-meş'emeh — the people of the left.

Those who know nothing of the covenants made way back in the first barzakh interpret the verses this way in the world. Way back in the first barzakh, in that address Elestü bi-Rabbiküm, when people were making a covenant with Allah, those who could not fit Allah into their own minds, who saw Him as like themselves and denied Allah, who waited for the Lord of their own imagination and turned their backs on Allah, who denied Allah — those people of the left.

My Beloved, do not mind their belying you, their denying you; Me too, in their time, in their time they betrayed Me too, He says. They denied Me too. Yes. They are lying unbelievers, He says. Who are these? Those who go into misguidance, the people of the left. Such are their characters. Those who came here with that character, those who with that character rebel against Allah this way — how can you slander Allah and say about them that He led them astray? Yes.

He has no knowledge of anything about the (?). He has no knowledge of the verses. If he had knowledge of the verses, he would not blame Allah like this. This, here, this much — after having opened up the verse this much, we continue with its commentary. People who rebel against Allah Almighty, those who deny Allah, or those who do not believe in the Prophet and in the last Book Allah sent, the Quran. These are some deaf and dumb people left in the darkness of ignorance and kufr. Who are the deaf? The foolish who, though you speak the truth, do not want to hear the truth.

Who are the deaf? Those who, though you speak the truth, do not want to hear the truth, and who go through distress and want to get away from there. Yes. Who are the dumb? Those who do not speak the truth.

A person who does not speak the truth is dumb. With some words he says as he pleases, he spends his life like the mute's "ooo" (?). The mute also speak, going "ooo." So the wretched people who do not speak the truth, (?), these people leave the place where Allah's word is spoken, or out of rage come to the point of bursting like the clouds in the sky.

I came across such a group: I looked, they were talking nonsense. Through a friend of mine, someone took me along, saying, come, let's go there, I could not refuse him, we went. I saw they were talking nonsense; (?) — gentlemen, these things you are saying are completely contrary to Allah Almighty's verse; these are rebellion against Allah, and a path of misguidance that turns man's path into Satan's path, I said. Now where... (?) who are you... Where did you bring this one from, they said, who is this, they said. They grew distressed. They grew distressed. To the ones next to me: who is this, why did you bring him here?

Is this the time, is this the time for Allah (?), they said.

Don't throw Allah at me, don't throw Allah. You talk among yourselves as you are. Leküm dînüküm veliye dîn. Yes, those who do not accept the truth, who do not accept what is right. Perhaps you have come across them too. I don't know. Yes. My Lord has made me run into many things.

These people leave the place where Allah's word is spoken, or out of rage come to the point of bursting like the clouds in the sky. These people are the deaf. Not wanting to hear the word of truth, stopping their ears against Allah's words, enemies of Allah — they are the living dead. Yes.

These people are at the same time dumb. Dumb.

They are not dumb ones who do not speak. Dumb ones who speak. That is, dumb ones who spend their lives in idle chatter and do not want to take the word of truth into their mouths. Why did Allah Almighty create people? He created them so that His being would be known. If man was created to know his Creator, if he does not pray to his Creator, does not give thanks, does not worship, and turns his back on Him and does not speak a single word of His, how is he different from a mute? Why was he created? To know his Lord. If he wraps himself, in total opposition to his Lord, in traits He does not want at all, the dumb — just as the dead, just as He calls the living living people the dead, these are the dumb who spend their lives in idle chatter.

Yes, they are dumb ones who speak. Their dumbness comes from not wanting to speak Allah's word. Where Allah's word is spoken, they get bored and distressed. This distress is because it tells people who live by what their nafs likes that they are sinners in Allah's sight. In Allah's sight they are sinners. They know this. They also know that Allah exists. Because their nafs likes things Allah does not want, they cannot give those up either. At that moment, while they talk of what their nafs likes, though they know they are in sin, when someone tells them, what you are saying are words Allah does not want, it weighs on their nafs and they go through distress — such people.

Yes. I have happened to be among such people by chance as well. Their way of living, those feelings of theirs are the verses themselves. Allah Almighty tells us what state they are in, lets us experience it, shows it to us. We see them among us. Yes.

Their moving away from the place where Allah's word is comes from wanting to reach the state of not remembering their sins and also, along with what their nafs likes, of not remembering Allah — from their wanting it.

Allah's word is being spoken, so he will move away from there.

Their moving away from the place where Allah's word is — both not remembering their sins, that is, the sins he talks of are sins, aren't they; you are not to remind him that it is a sin, since his nafs likes it; he knows it too, but he deceives himself. What a person's own nafs does to him, (?) cannot do. Yes.

And also because they want to come, along with what their nafs likes, to the state of not remembering Allah — from those who want it, from their wanting. With these states, people fall into being fools who do not use their reason. Indeed, Allah Almighty gave you reason; you will use your reason. I chattered and got the upper hand. I talked about this one and that one and got the upper hand. I picked on this one and that one and got the upper hand. I lied and came out ahead — let me tell you what they got: they found you very worthless, came to the point of no longer valuing your word, and saw you as base, because you had these traits. What did you do? Because you had these traits, you yourself noticed it too.

this time, to prove yourself, you resorted to all kinds of intrigues. That is, you sank deeper and deeper into a swamp.

Yes.

People's states are being explained, aren't they? What traits they wrap themselves in?

As if, when they move away from Allah, by not remembering Allah, they could escape death and escape appearing before Allah on the Day of Judgement — could they? Such people, in their ignorance, are both deaf and dumb. To avoid remembering Allah, so that those who move away from their sin do not remind you of your sin, if you vacate that place of truth and turn your back and go, will you escape death? According to His verse, "Every soul will taste death, and in the end your return is to Me," will you step outside this verse and, sir, be free of Allah Almighty's reckoning on the Day of Judgement?

So man — man is human by the actions he does. With some of his actions he is (?) than an animal. Yes.

Whoever made the covenant with Allah Almighty in the state of denying Allah — that is, all the kinds, people descended from one another, are of three classes. Whoever made the covenant with Allah Almighty in the state of denying Allah — those people of the left, if they made the covenant that way — that person has wished his misguidance from Allah. How fine. So is Allah the one who (?) this now? When your Lord said to you, I am your Lord, you denied your Lord; you became subject to the verse about those lying unbelievers. Subject to the verse "They will not be able to see their Lord," if you wait for the Lord of your own imagination and turn your back on the Lord who created you, did you choose misguidance?

Or did Allah push you into misguidance?

Yes.

And whoever knew his Lord as Lord and made the covenant that way has wished guidance from Allah. Fe ashâbü'l-meymeneti mâ ashâbü'l-meymeneh. Yes. I was created. Since no other Lord, no other creator of mine appeared — before so many creators, before the created, no other god appeared saying "I created you," and no one said, sir, "I created you" — those who simply said, that Lord before me created me, used their reason and said, yes, You are my Lord — they too are fe ashâbü'l-meymeneti mâ ashâbü'l-meymeneh, the people of the right. This is the state — at kalû belâ, in the address where He said "I am your Lord," these events took place; people's desires and wishes were written for them as destiny.

Yes.

One of them was saying this. You remember his words. He wrote this Quran as an exact copy of the Diyanet's. I will find out who wrote its commentary.

I will find out who wrote its commentary. Even if you travelled this universe, that is, travelled this world, you could not find the one who wrote such a commentary. The one who wrote that commentary is right in front of you — look how beautifully he explains it to you. If someone else had written that commentary, he could not explain it to you this beautifully. Yes.

Eleven commentaries have been written, all copies of one another. Look and see whether one of them resembles this one.

Because they are people unaware of these sciences. People who fit the verses into their own minds, into their (?), and in that way generalize them. Yes. This is the state: at kalû belâ, in the address where He said "I am your Lord," these events took place; people's desires and wishes were written for them as destiny. These events took place, people's desires and wishes were written for them as destiny; whoever wished for misguidance, that person himself, in rebellion against Allah and denial, completes his life in this world upon misguidance. In this world. Does he not straighten out? If he wished for misguidance, if he denied Allah, if such characters settled in him, it is impossible for him to straighten out.

Indeed, when Allah Almighty destroyed Pharaoh, they were a wrongdoing people anyway, He says. He was going anyway. There is not a single living being to come until the Last Day of whom We do not know what he will not do, He says. When He destroyed the people of (?), they were wrongdoing peoples anyway, He says. Those We destroyed. That is what Allah Almighty says. Yes.

And whoever wished for guidance completes his life in obedience and worship, as a servant of Allah. From this, a question like this may come to your mind: Hodja, many unbelievers have become Muslims. And many Muslims have become unbelievers. So how are these (?) then? How are they (?)? Look. Allah Almighty is free from deficient attributes. He puts an unbeliever's spirit (?) into a Muslim's loins. And into an unbeliever's loins He puts a Muslim's spirit (?). So that those people do not say, My Allah, if You had created me in the land of Islam, I too would have become a Muslim. (?), He says. Look, the one created in the land of Islam turned to kufr.

Look, so-and-so was created in the land of the unbelievers and turned to Islam. These gave their characters properly, according to the covenants they gave at (?). They did not give them as a rebellious, ungrateful spirit like you, He says. They did not give them as an ungrateful person. These knew their Lord. According to their desires and wishes We gave them characters. According to your desires and wishes too We gave these characters. Wherever, in whichever land I had created you, you would still in that land live your own nature. You would show your own nature. That is why Allah Almighty is free from deficient attributes.

No one will be able to question or call Allah Almighty to account.
