Translation

Vow to that; We have sent Prophets to the nations that came before you as well and We have given them tribulations and hardships so that they would pray.

Tafsir

The fact that Allah swears by His Essence that We sent Prophets to the nations that came before you shows that Allah does not hold responsible any nation or people whom He did not make known His Essence. Since Allah created mankind for the knowledge of His Essence, by making people know His Essence, He intended that His existence should be known as the Lord and that there is no other God but Him, and He intended that people should know it in this way. However, these people went beyond the limits in their rebellion and disobedience to Allah (swt) and denied the Prophets. So Allah (swt) gave them many calamities and severities in order that they might come to their senses and beg Allah (swt). By punishing them in this way, he wanted them to find the truth.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-An'am, verse 42 — this too is one of the verses that have been interpreted wrongly. Look what it says now; it has been interpreted wrongly. By oath, We sent messengers to the communities before you too, then, so that they might submit, We afflicted them with hardship and illnesses, it says — so that they might submit. Allah Almighty does not know what state they are in; He sends them messengers so that they might submit. Yet the meaning given to this verse ascribes attributes to Allah. It is not like that. By oath, We sent prophets to the communities that came before you too. Then We seized those communities with certain severities and hardships so that they might plead.

Look how beautiful. So that they might plead.

What is the verse's real rendering? By oath, We sent prophets to the communities that came before you too. then We seized those communities with certain severities and hardships so that they might plead. That is, they have fallen into evil and are going on. So that they might plead. Allah Almighty is free from deficient attributes, after all. If only You had given me a calamity, and I had come to what is right. For example, among the unbelievers — does Allah Almighty not say, every year We give them two or three calamities? So to those who stray into wrongs too, Allah Almighty gives such calamities so that they plead with Us. But unfortunately, it says, they still go the way of their own minds, it says.

Yes.

And here, what does it say? By oath, We sent messengers to the communities before you too, then — so that they might submit. So that they might submit. So You could not make them submit, then. So that they might submit. That is, there is no covenant of the individuals or anything here. So that they might submit. Sir, We afflicted them with hardship and illnesses. here it ascribes attributes to Allah Almighty: so that they might submit, He gives them hardships. It is not like that. Then We seized those communities with certain severities and hardships so that they might plead. That is, so that they know their Lord. So that they turn to Allah.

So that they might plead. So: if only (?) had given me a calamity, and I had known this calamity as coming from You as Lord, and had pleaded with You to lift it from me. But what does the other one say? So that they might submit to Me.

To Allah Almighty — Allah Almighty makes whomever He wants submit. Whomever He wants. So because He has left us free with our will, He wants us to return to His (?) from us. So plead, He says. He gives you calamities. Yes. This is where you will prove yourself. With these calamities. Are you of ashâbü'l-meş'emeti mâ ashâbü'l-meş'emeh? Or are you of ashâbü'l-meymeneti mâ ashâbü'l-meymeneh?

Are you of the people of the right? Of the people of the left? Here you will look for yourselves.

How beautifully the verses open up, don't they? Of course. If you know their meanings: Allah Almighty, swearing by His own being, what does He say? Ve lekad erselnâ. By oath. We sent messengers to the communities that came before you too, He says. By oath. Yes. His saying, with an oath by His being, "We sent prophets to the communities that came before you too" shows that Allah does not hold responsible any community or people to whom He has not made His being known. That is. We sent to the communities before you too. So no person came into the world left to himself. To all of them a messenger.

We sent prophets, messengers, men, He says, every (?). Yes.

And when Allah created people so that His being would be known, making His being known to people, that His existence is to be known as Lord and that there is no god besides Him, He makes known to people — it is because He wills that people too know it so. But these people, by their rebellion and disobedience to Allah Almighty, (?) also denied the prophets. Thereupon, so that they might come to their senses and plead, turning back to Allah, Allah Almighty gave them many calamities and severities. By punishing them in this way, He wanted them to find the truth.
