Yusuf 23: The woman whose house he stayed in desired to take advantage of him, closed the doors tightly and said, “come now!” And he said, “(no!) I seek refuge in Allah. Verily, your husband is my benefactor and he treated me well. Verily, oppressors cannot attain salvation.”

Tafsir

Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' was a very beautiful and handsome person. Hadrat Yusuf's beauty was legendary. Because he was so beautiful and handsome, the woman who took care of him and raised him coveted Hazrat Yusuf. She wants to take advantage of his ego and sleep with him. In this regard, she put her plan into practice. While Hazrat Yusuf was at home, the wife of the Minister of Finance came to him, closed the doors and told him to sleep with her. But Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm'! Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' said, "I fear Allah and I have seen many favors from your husband, he is my guardian, that is, my elder, and I will never fulfill your desires. Hadrat Yusuf 'alaihis-salâm' addressed the woman and told her to give it up. The truth is: The wrongdoers will never prosper. Because sinners disregard Allah's command and turn their backs on Allah for their own souls. In this respect, they are wrongdoers. Those who wrong their own souls.

What is said in the video

Verse 23. We come to the verse. The woman in whose house he was sought to seduce him. Joseph was very handsome, a very beautiful person. Allah Almighty creates those He loves, even if they are prophets, strong like this, He creates them strong. The people Allah loves, or who love Allah, too, and also we, scholars who have reformed their nafs, are strong. They too, by the (?) of the passionate love of our Lord, the love, and because of the love felt toward our Lord, which He has placed in their hearts, are strong in the peace of that light. They are far from stress. They also keep away from this verse.

Keeping away from the verse is not because of denying the verse, mind you. Look, I will now explain the verse to you. 'Microbes are My soldiers', it says. (?) 'I send them to whom I will', it says. No, not to whom He wills. He sends them to those who ask for it. Who are these who ask for it? Those who live with stress. Those who are deceived by worldly desire and strive for the world to the point of ruin, sir, those carried away by the world, who credit everything to themselves and turn their backs on their Lord. All of these are open treasures for microbes. Well, what do we say? We are exempt from this verse.

That is, we are at peace, in the peace of our Lord. Bound by the verses of our Lord so as not to take those microbes into ourselves, we try to keep the microbes away from us. (?) Well, if you say, according to the verse 'We will test you somewhat in your wealth and your lives', are you keeping further away from this too, those are exceptions. Within our destiny, so that our Lord proves what kind of person we are, afflictions given by His own self, as He gave to Job. As He gave to Job (peace be upon him). Yes. What comes from Him is pleasant.

From the one he loves, even if it is an affliction, because the affliction comes from the one he loves, it is a mercy. He plays lovingly with it. Yes, these are different.

Let me even tell you this much. He also knows when that affliction will end. Because his Lord is testing him. He also knows how tired he will get in that affliction, how long he will stay, what will happen, and when he will be freed from it.

If you ask whether it happened to me, it did, and that is why I say it. When I was involved in a traffic accident in Mecca, I went to prison there. I stayed in prison for three months.

They tell me to the very day. You will come out at such a time. And when you reach this verse of the 12th complete reading, its living witness is still alive. He was with me too. I told him, I will get out of here on such a day. And that day came. That person said to me, weren't you getting out today? I said, you know they release people from here at night too. Let me renew my ablution and come, I said. Before I could even go to renew my ablution, the guards were shouting 'Abdülmetin'. (?) The man froze. I even told him this: You will come one month after me, I said. Yes. And one month later he came.

And he said, I will give you an apartment here. Even though I had bought the apartment from him with my money, he (?) me. So I gave that apartment, without taking money, to a Turk from Germany. Take it, you will get it out, I said. You send me your money later, I said. I gave it, the apartment was gone. Just to see that. Well, are you (?) then? I am not. So why did it come apart? (?) prayer. They said to me, shall we show you a porter? 'Porter', they say like this, pressing on my heart. I am in prayer like this. Good heavens, is it satanic or merciful? What business do I have with Satan (?)? What business do I have with a porter?

Say it, say it, they say. Porter. Who is called that? (?) I am praying. I am talking. (?) Porter. Is it the one who carries a load on his back? No, they said. No, that one is a gentleman. A man who works honestly to earn his household's living, they said. So who is called a porter? A person who has loaded up the world and neglected the hereafter is a porter, he said. And he is in front of you, he said. And then I saw it was this man. So I said to him, I will not greet you any more. I will not stay in this house, I said. Well, goodbye. Yes. And I act in all my affairs on the verses, by the command I receive from my Lord.

Yes.

The woman in whose house he was, in order to seduce him, closed the doors tightly and said, come on.

He said: God forbid. I seek refuge in Allah. For your husband is my benefactor. He treated me well. The truth is, wrongdoers do not prosper, he said. How beautifully he puts it. When he makes such a plea to Allah Almighty, here yes,

if a person gives his heart to Allah, in every word he speaks, in every deed he does, he acts in the light of the verses and behaves as if he were being called to account in his Lord's presence. And the prophets are like this. Joseph (peace be upon him) is a very beautiful and handsome person. Joseph's beauty is legendary. In fact, when the women gossiped about the woman, she invites those gossiping women. She gives each of them an onion and a knife. She brings Joseph out before them, and the women, before his beauty, cut their hands. God forbid, this was a human, an angel too, they say, before his beauty.

Because he was very beautiful and handsome, the woman who looked after him and raised him sets her eyes on Joseph. She wants to take advantage of him and sleep with him. So she puts the plan she prepared into practice. While Joseph is in the house, the wife of the Minister of Finance comes to Joseph (peace be upon him). She closes the doors and tells him to sleep with her. But Joseph (peace be upon him) says: God forbid, I fear Allah, and I have received much kindness from your husband. He is my benefactor. That is, my elder. I will never fulfil your desires and (?), he says. Joseph (peace be upon him), addressing the woman, tells her to give up this matter.

The truth is, wrongdoers never prosper, he says. Because sinners disregard Allah's command. Sinners. Yes.

For their own selves they turn (?) to Allah. For this reason they are wrongdoers. They are those who wrong their own selves. These. For a few minutes of worldly pleasure, not even hours, for minutes of pleasure, they commit acts that cross the limits Allah has forbidden. And in this state they wrong their own selves.

Yes, let us explain this verse too and end our lesson. If Allah grants it, in the next lesson on Tuesday, God willing, if we are still alive, all together again, we will continue our lesson. I want to tell you this. However many questions you have that are unknown, however many hard questions there are, however many have stuck in your mind and you could not answer, that you are hesitant about, or if they can be prepared, deliberately, however many hard questions there are, ask them.

Let us enlighten you with the verses. Nobody will tell you this. And without preparing, a person will stand up and explain it to you. Yes.
