And for those who fear Allah, there is no share from the account of those who mock. But (upon the mu’min) there is (the duty) to remind them of their bad deeds and to give them advice so that they will abstain.
Tafsir
If Muslims are in the presence of people who mock the Verses of Allah (swt), and when they hear their words, they have no place to go, and they have to sit there, the Muslims will not be held responsible for what this group of wrongdoers say, nor for the account of those who mock. So they will not sin. People are responsible for their own actions.
(But it is upon the believers to remind them of their bad deeds and to advise them). Believers, as we have explained in previous lessons, are the people who have reached the Nafsi Mutmainnah and are aware of the manifestations. They have spiritual sciences and they are in a position to convey the truth and to explain Allah and His Messenger to the community of wrongdoers, according to the situation of the people they are facing, and they bear the responsibility. Therefore, when the believers are in the company of those who mock the Verses of Allah, they are obliged to tell them the truth. Lest this community of wrongdoers shun evil.
What is said in the video
We have come to verse 69 of Surah Al-An'am. Indeed, nothing of the account of those who mock falls upon those who fear Allah. Let them go into kufr as much as they like. No share of his kufr comes to a person who knows Allah. But it is upon the believers to remind them of their evil deeds and to advise them; perhaps they will be wary. As I told you just now: if there are believers who can speak, whose mouths can speak, people who can know the verses, they will tell them the truth. If there is a light of faith in these people's affairs, then through commanding the good they may perhaps turn back to the Truth.
If not, if you see that there is rebelliousness in their nature and they have reached the point where the clouds in the sky would burst, and out of their rage slaver has begun to run from their mouths, Allah Almighty lets the tongue hang out for them. They are like dogs, He says. If you go at them, He says, they pant with their tongues out. If you leave them, they pant with their tongues out, He says. Yes, the moment you see this state, He says, keep away from them. Yes, Muslims who are present with people who mock the verses of Allah Almighty, when they hear their words, if they have nowhere to go, if they are obliged to sit there, then of what this community of wrongdoers says, of the account of those who mock, nothing falls upon the Muslims.
That is, they do not incur sin; people are responsible for what they themselves do.
But it is upon the believers to remind them of their evil deeds and to advise them. We said it in our last lesson too: believers are people who have risen to nafs al-mutma'inna. But because people do not know who a believer is, I read it in a book, on the same page. By chance, just like that. It runs the believer into the ground. It makes him worse than a Muslim. Then a few lines further down the same page it makes the believer (?) a god. What kind of book is this? What kind of knowledge is this? How can a person write this? Right away this hadith comes to my mind. A time will come, he says, when, though Allah did not say it, they will say Allah and His Messenger said so, he says.
And again in a hadith: a time will come when everyone who comes along will write a book, he says. Today we look, and anyone who comes along writes a book. Anyone at all. Go on, write. What does this show? That they do not fear Allah and His Messenger;
if they have a label, thinking of profiting from that label, gathering followers around themselves, people who look for worldly gain from them, people who want to satisfy their nafs's desires toward them, anyone and everyone will (?) books. Yes.
Those who listen to me might ask a question like this. Hodja, you write books too; how do we know you are not like them?
I want to remind you of a saying of Hazrat Mevlana.
Say a word to me, he says, and I'll tell you where you stand, you say. How beautifully he puts it. If the words coming out of our mouths are like theirs, then of course I am like them too.
Yes.
Verse 69 of Surah Al-An'am. Indeed, nothing of the account of those who mock falls upon those who fear Allah. But it is upon the believers to remind them of their evil deeds and to advise them; perhaps they will be wary.
Muslims who are present with people who mock the verses of Allah Almighty, when they hear their words, if they have nowhere to go and are obliged to sit there, then of what this community of wrongdoers says, of the account of those mocked, nothing falls upon the Muslims. That is, they do not incur sin. People are responsible for what they themselves do. But it is upon the believers to remind them of their evil deeds and to advise them. Believers, as we explained in earlier lessons too, are people who have risen to nafs al-mutma'inna and attained the manifestations. Since they possess spiritual knowledge and, according to the state of the people before them, can convey the truth in a community of wrongdoers, being able to explain Allah and His Messenger, they take on the responsibility.
Now, let's put it this way. Toward people who, in my presence, want to insult Allah and His Messenger, I am obliged to tell them the truth, according to this verse. Whatever branch they talk about, in answer to that branch I am obliged to answer them with the verses of Allah. Whenever they rise in rebellion against me and, well, their tongues pant, they start panting and begin to rage, then: lekum dînukum veliye dîn. Yours to you: what you know to you, and what I know to me. I understood my responsibility and explained, according to the verse. After that, Allah is the witness between us.
Since they possess spiritual knowledge and, according to the state of the people before them, can convey the truth to a community of wrongdoers, being able to explain Allah and His Messenger, they take on responsibility for this. Therefore, when believers remain together with those who mock the verses of Allah, they are obliged to tell them the truth. So that this community of wrongdoers may refrain from evil. Yes.
