As We have shown to Abraham the mistake of his father and his nation, We were also showing him the bounties of the heavens and the earth so that he would be among those who know and believed with certainty.
Tafsir
As a result of the good covenant that Prophet Ibrahim made with Allah in the past, Allah made him one of the chosen ones and many miracles were performed on Prophet Ibrahim in the realm of property.
Since it was not in the nature of Hazrat Ibrahim to associate partners with Allah, Hazrat Ibrahim, who was born and raised in such a darkness of polytheism, was not pleased with the idol worship of his ancestors and his people, and he did not believe in idols, thinking that they could not be Allah.
Allah (swt) was showing him that his ancestor and his people were in error, according to the covenant that Ibrahim (Abraham) had made. The real meaning of this verse is that in order for Hazrat Ibrahim to know that his ancestor and his people were in error, Allah (swt) manifested Himself to Hazrat Ibrahim spiritually, made him aware of His existence, showed him that there is no God but Allah, and increased his faith. In this truth and faith, Abraham saw that his ancestors and people were in error, and Allah (swt) also made him aware of the existence of the angelic realms of the heavens and the earth, and put faith on his faith, and showed him many realms and truths so that he might be among those who know Allah closely.
What is said in the video
We will close our lesson.
Just as We showed Abraham the error of his forefather and his people, We were showing him the malakut of the heavens and the earth, so that, knowing with certainty, he would be among the people — that he would be among the people who know with certainty. That he would be among those who know with certainty and believe. With certainty. Well, He was showing him the malakut of the heavens and the earth.
Prophets, scholars, the heirs of the prophets. If they see, the heirs see too. Even if not as much as them, they see something, that is, yes. It says the malakut of the heavens and the earth, you see. One day I came out of the mosque in Zeytinburnu. We had prayed the noon prayer. Our late Shaykh al-Islam was repairing watches at that time. We called him Shaykh al-Islam. We had given him a nickname. But a nice nickname. Of course, you know about giving each other nicknames, but this is a nice nickname. He was a muezzin. May Allah have mercy on him. He had a very beautiful voice; later on he got shortness of breath.
He was the muezzin there.
During the prayer, a scene unfolded. Above the Throne, angels were making dhikr, saying Allah, Allah. In spirit, that is. He too entered among them. And I began to make dhikr too. Then it came to us. After the prayer we write: Come, O brothers, let us behold, let us see the endless mercy of the Truth. With every breath let us say Allah, Allah. In this paradise (?), I forgot. We wrote a beautiful couplet like this. As it came, that couplet is still in the notebook. So it shows the malakut of the heavens, and the malakut of the earth too. It shows them. Scholars are the heirs of the prophets.
Yes.
Because of a beautiful covenant Abraham had given Allah before, Allah made him one of the chosen. Because he gave a beautiful covenant, among the chosen, the elect. And in the great world Allah Almighty showed many miracles through Abraham. Since there was no associating partners with Allah in Abraham's own nature, Abraham, born and raised amid such darkness of shirk, could not accept in his heart his forefather's and his people's worship of idols, and, thinking they could not be Allah, did not believe in idols. One day he sees a star rising. Might this be my Lord, he says. He sees that when day comes the stars have vanished.
I have nothing to do with what sets, he says. He sees the moon, bigger. Might this be it, he says. When it too vanishes with the day, he says this cannot be it either. He sees the sun. I have nothing to do with things that set, he says. And so, the malakut of the heavens and the earth — that there is no god but Allah, that all creatures are servants of Allah — Allah Almighty to Abraham, then, of course, to save them from that idolatry, out of mercy, and according to the covenant Abraham had given, that there is no god other than His own Essence, makes known to Abraham. And Abraham does such a fine thing.
He smashes the idols. And he hangs the axe on the neck of one idol. Abraham, why did you smash these? I didn't smash them, he says. Ask the big idol, he says. Well, they say, how could it smash them? It can't even move, they say. Well, he says. Even though you know it to be so, he says, how is it, he says, that you worship them, he says.
Yes. Then they set a trap for him. But Allah Almighty says in a verse: We are the best of those who plan. That is, We wrong no one with Our plans. We only foil their plots and show mercy to people, He says. The trap they laid for Abraham: although they (?) Abraham by catapult into the flames of the heaped-up wood, Allah Almighty turns that place into a rose garden, a garden of roses. And after that, once Abraham escaped from there, he leaves that land together with Lot (peace be upon him). Yes. Yes, according to the covenant Abraham had given, Allah Almighty was showing him that his forefather and his people were in error.
As for the meaning from this verse — the real meaning from this verse: so that Abraham could know that his forefather and his people were in error, Allah Almighty manifested Himself to Abraham spiritually, informing him of His existence, showing him that there is no god but Allah, and so increasing his faith. Abraham, within this truth and faith, just as he saw that his forefather and his people were in error, Allah Almighty also informed him of the beings of the malakut of the heavens and the earth, and added to his faith upon faith. So that he would be among those who know Allah with certainty, He was showing many worlds and realities to Abraham.
Yes.
Now, as we said: to the one who understands, a mosquito is music; to the one who doesn't, drums and pipes are not enough.
In this verse, this last statement I made, went over — there is no one who would make it. What are we saying there? That part — that last sentence — let me read it to you once more, if you like. Within this truth and faith, just as Abraham saw that his forefather and his people were in error, Allah Almighty also, of the malakut of the heavens and the earth, of the beings of the malakut, informing him — of the heavens and the earth, informing him of the beings of the malakut. As I described earlier: the angels in the Throne, in the heavens, in the malakut, the angels in the layers, in the layers, the state of the earths and what does it say? Allah Almighty also, of the malakut of the heavens and the earth, informing him of its beings, adds faith upon his faith.
So that he would be among those who know Allah with certainty, He was showing many worlds and realities to Abraham. What are these worlds? The meanings of the Quran's verses. Worlds. What are these worlds? Going to the first layer, the second layer, the third layer, the fourth layer. Well, seeing Hell, Paradise. And also seeing the meanings of the verses. It means that. This statement means that. So that he would be among those who know Allah with certainty, many worlds — that is, Paradise, Hell, the angels between the layers — and realities, He was showing to Abraham. What are the realities? The verses. Their meanings within the verses.
Yes.
