“Surely, I have turned my face towards the One Who is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. And I am not one of those who associate partners (with Allah).”
Tafsir
He wanted to save his people and his father from committing injustice against their own souls by saying to them, "I submit to the religion of Allah, the only One, and to Him alone do I turn my face and worship Him, and I am not one of those who associate partners with Him.
However, when man sees that he has broken his covenant in this world. While Hazrat Abraham was struggling to save these people and prevent them from being subjected to the cruelty of eternal life, his people united to do evil to him and started a struggle with him because their idols were being insulted.
What is said in the video
Surah Al-An'am, verse 79. Indeed, submitting only to the true religion, toward Allah, who created the heavens and the earth, I have turned my face.
Yes, the sacrifice prayer came to my mind, and when I saw it I repeated it inwardly too. Indeed, submitting only to the true religion, I have turned my face to Allah, who created the heavens and the earth, it says. Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. İnnî veccehtü vechiye lillezî fataras-semâvâti ve'l-arda hanîfen ve mâ ene mine'l-müşrikîn I have turned my face to my Lord, who created the earths and the heavens. I am not of the polytheists. I am upon the hanif religion, he says. I have submitted to that one God. I am not of the polytheists, he says. That is how he puts it.
So that was the verse itself. I had not read the verse. İnnî veccehtü vechiye lillezî fataras-semâvâti ve'l-arda hanîfen ve mâ ene mine'l-müşrikîn. (?) Yes. Indeed, submitting only to the true religion, toward Allah, who created the heavens and the earth, I have turned my face. I am not of those who associate partners with Him, it says.
Abraham, again addressing his people, yes.
Abraham, again addressing his people: I submit only to the religion of Allah, the One, and I turn my face only to Him and worship Him; I am not of those who associate partners with Him — saying this, he wanted to save his people and his father from wronging their own selves. How beautiful, people helping people: the feelings of a good child toward a bad father, and that child, to save his father, pleading to Allah — but then, when he knew the truth, he said: spare me from being among the ignorant. Abraham prayed to Allah Almighty. He is not of you, he knows. He is a disbeliever. It was because he was one, because he was an idol worshipper.
But our good children who come from our generation, our good children — since their fathers are Muslims too — if those good children made such prayers for their fathers, if they pleaded to Allah like this,
I say that perhaps most of those who pass on to the hereafter as Muslims will have their sins forgiven and enter Paradise. Because Allah Almighty kept 99% of His mercy for Himself. Likewise, when one has a good child in this world, and our Lord has granted him such a child and that child prays like this for his father, surely the will of Allah Almighty was perhaps to save that person too. By giving him such a good child, through the child's praying for his father, for his mother, for his relatives, Allah Almighty answers his prayer and we save his relatives too from (?) punishment — provided, of course, they died in Islam.
And if they do not have too many sins. Yes.
But woe, we say, if a person gave a bad pledge in the (?) earlier. That is, Abraham, again addressing his people: I submit only to the religion of Allah, the One, and I turn my face only to Him and worship Him. I am not of those who associate partners with Him — saying this, he wants to save his people and his father from wronging their own selves. But woe if a person gave a bad pledge in the (?) earlier. That is, their being deniers: while Abraham strove to save these people so that they would not suffer the oppression of the eternal life, his people united to do him harm and, because he was insulting the idols they worshipped, they began a struggle against Abraham.
A struggle. And in the end they throw him into the fire. When Allah Almighty said to the fire, 'Be cool and safe,' and saved him, even though their eyes still saw this, they said 'this is magic,' and with magic people turn away from Allah.
Yes.
