If you were to follow the majority (of people) on the face of earth, they would lead you astray from the path of Allah. They do not follow anything but supposition and they do not say anything but lies.
Tafsir
O you who believe (if you follow most of the people on earth, they will lead you astray from the path of Allah). According to this verse, most of the people are those who are far away from Allah and His Messenger, who live their lives in dark and swampy ways, in a nafs and shaytanic way, and who enjoy that life. These are the people who run after their lusts with nafsani feelings, who swim in troubles, thinking that they are living, and who mistake them for life. If they continue their lives in this way, they will never see peace in both worlds. They will be cruel to their nafs in their eternal life. If you are deceived by the abundance of such people, if you envy their lives, if you follow such people thinking that I should live like them, they will turn you away from the straight path of Allah. They will lead you astray.
(They follow nothing but conjecture and speak nothing but lies). According to the previous verse, those who do not follow Allah and His Messenger, those who turn their backs on them, those who do not listen to the word of Allah, those who do not like it, those who turn their backs on the verses, are turning their backs on the verse (The word of your Lord is complete in truth and justice), and the opposite of this verse is conjecture and lies. Allah proves clearly that these people are liars, who are following a misconception.
Therefore, they know nothing but lies. Those who live their lives in lies and turn their backs on the Verses spend their lives in idle talk and chatter. Of course, they will be liars and people who pursue delusions.
What is said in the video
In verse 116 of Surah Al-An'am: If you follow most of those on earth, they will lead you astray from the way of Allah. They follow nothing but conjecture, and they speak nothing but lies, He says. Those who deny Allah and His Messenger, people, of course, in the face of the truth, in the face of what is right, because it goes against their false beliefs, they rise in rebellion, and since they are in the majority, they expect those who speak the truth to turn in their favour, to turn to them. Yes.
In this case, even though a person, even though He is saying it to the Prophet (peace be upon him),
yes.
They wanted them to turn to them. That is, that the truth should turn to them; if you follow their desires, He says, what does He say? They will lead you astray from the way of Allah. Because all they do is tell lies, set traps, gain their worldly interests, deceive one another; even if they appear close to one another, in fact they back each other up for their interests; such people they are. Muslims back one another up for Allah.
But the unbeliever backs others up for this. Money. Interest. And there is no lie he would not tell for that money.
And there is no indecency or (?) he would not commit. That is why Allah Almighty, knowing them very well, what does He say in His verse?
They follow nothing but conjecture. That is, the conjecture He speaks of: since He created man's reason partial, since man is incapable of finding his own direction, his own path, of managing himself, Allah Almighty, knowing what His servant is, sends prophets. He sends scholars. People He has raised. He sends Books. So that they may manage themselves. So that they may find the truth. So that they may live in peace. Well, those who turn their backs on the scholars, the prophets and the Books that Allah sends will of course live in their world of fantasies with that partial reason of theirs, and will speak of nothing but conjectures of their own.
These will be buildings founded on conjecture and lies. They will be words. In this case, next to the truth, this is not even a shadow. Yes.
O you who believe! If you follow most of the people on earth, they will lead you astray from the way of Allah. According to this verse, most people are far from Allah and His Messenger, people who carry on their lives on dark and swampy paths, driven by the nafs and by Satan, and who take pleasure in that way of living. If we look at the world today, there are probably 7 billion people, are there 3 billion Muslims, 3 to 3.5, no, 2 to 2.5, yes, there are 2 to 2.5 billion Muslims, 4 to 4.5 billion, 4.5 to 5 billion are non-Muslims; there you have the majority. That is why one must be alert. Not on the one in front of him, but his own existence, reflecting deeply on it, into the world why he came, how he was created, reflecting on these worlds, that they have a Creator, and to that Creator, (?) to that Creator, to the Owner of the worlds, if a person surrenders wholeheartedly, then that majority, those people they talk about, cannot affect such a person.
If a person surrenders to Allah with such a life, with such feelings, the majorities cannot harm such people. These think they take pleasure from the world, from life, yet unease has enveloped them, they have given themselves to drink; today, look, there is no one who does not drink among non-Muslims, you will not find one. First of all they offer drink to one another, to their wives, their daughters, to all of them, with pride. Whichever drink is the finest, that makes them very proud: I offered a fine aged drink. How proudly they take pride in what Allah does not want. Then of course the brain cells collapse, they become dull.
Because drink sets the brain cells into activity. In this activity these brain cells working (?) in a short time turn to death, to ageing and to feeble-mindedness. They die. The cells are driven to die. In this case these people become senile very quickly. They become senile. They already live unaware of themselves. Yes, these are people who, with feelings of the nafs, run after their lusts, who swim in troubles thinking they are living, and who take those for life. So it is; now, in Hell the tree of zaqqum will grow, its fruit, He says, is gnarled, like the heads of devils, He says. I am not the one saying it, but Allah Almighty (?) it, because Allah is the Creator. When they eat from it, He says, when they eat from the fruit of zaqqum, their bowels will boil, they will (?), He says.
A heat will come over them, and on top of that, He says, hot water and another liquid mixed into it there will be, He says. That is, pus will be mixed in. It will not go down their throats, He says, they will (?), they will cry out, where are you, destruction, but there will be no more destruction, He says. That is why I gave this example. People too, in this swamp, in this swamp of a world, in the fornication, the forbidden things they live outside Allah's command, in interest, sir, by the money they earn from those illegitimate ways, people who think they are living by (?), while in fact they are in such unease that, even if they gave this whole world, they could not get rid of this unease within them.
Because Allah Almighty says so. Their hearts are scattered and uneasy, He says. Allah who created them, Allah who gives them their wishes as destiny according to their desires and wants, Allah who knows their hearts, or the secrets of people's hearts, tells us so. Their hearts are uneasy and scattered. That zaqqum tree that grows in Hell, in this world, calling it the zaqqum flower, how boastfully they offer it to one another, calling it the zaqqum tree, the zaqqum flower. True, it is what Allah created. A tree is a tree, a flower is a flower. But does He not say: that zaqqum, in that Hell, I do not love it.
I cannot love that flower. True, it is beautiful, its flower is beautiful. But those who find it so attractive and offer that zaqqum to one another, and who say the word zaqqum to one another with pride. Yes. So everyone, according to their own desires and deeds, according to their wish, on the line of their life that they draw, moves in this way.
Those swampy paths, He says, people who take them for life. Yes. If they carry on their lives like this, they will see no comfort in either world. They do not see it anyway, He says. In the next world, eternal Hell. I have no place in Hell, says Allah Almighty. Yes. In this world too, as long as he lives, as long as he lives outside Allah's commands, first Allah Almighty, both in this world and in the hereafter, will punish them with His justice for what they did.
In their eternal life too they become wrongdoers against their own selves. If you are deceived by the great number of these people and envy their lives, and saying I too must live like them, you follow such people, they will hold you back from the path of the friends of Allah and turn you away from that path. They will drag you into deviation. Into deviation. Yes.
Here I will give you an example now.
Before giving this example, I will speak about the general case. As we always say, the televisions are the Dajjal. What about the television is the Dajjal, Hodja? Now you might say: you have done a thing too, you have started to go astray. A television has no life, so how could it be the Dajjal? Those who run them. The media. The media. The Dajjal itself. Except those in it who are not like that. For within every group, every community, there are people who, with their state and their tongue, will tell the truth.
This corresponds to Allah Almighty's verse. What does it say? (?) We do not call anyone to account. Now, when the general case is like this, why? When it is the Dajjal; we will now list the hadiths. He is one-eyed, it says. The screen is one, a single screen. He is one-eyed. He will travel around the world in three or four steps, it says. Isn't that so? Look, they are listening to us from America. It gets there in three or four seconds. He will travel around the world in three or four steps. When I was a child, I said: what a huge man this must be. Sir, I was a child, of course. He would have an eye on his forehead.
Even as a child I did not believe this. Even as a child I did not believe it. I was imagining his feet. He will travel around the world in three or four steps, after all. I was imagining his feet and his height like this. Not one city, not two cities, I said. This man walks crushing (?). He crosses the oceans from shore to shore, I said. Such a big man. That is how I imagined it. Yes. Anyway. How beautifully the Prophet says it in a figurative sense. What did he say? He will be one-eyed, he will travel around the world in three or four steps, he will enter every house, he will enter everywhere, only he will not be able to enter the mosques; in the mosques there is not a single television, yes, sir; in his hand, in one hand fire, in the other hand water; if he shows water it is fire, if he shows fire it is water; O my community, do not believe him, he says, do not believe him.
Now,
after knowing this much here, we are now turning to the personal. They are all more or less the same, but one is a bit different. I will show you that too. In their eternal lives they become wrongdoers against their own selves. After this, if you are deceived by the great number of these people, if you envy their lives, and saying I too must live like them, you follow such people, they will hold you back from the path of the friends of Allah and turn you away, they will drag you into deviation.
The show television. On Yetenek Sizsiniz, to those they make win first place, what immorality is there that they do not pour onto that stage? Let them keep pouring it out. The immoralities they have not committed. And those (?), envying them, saying we will be first, envying those swamp stars, those stars of Hell, those stars who wrong their own selves, because they follow them at the same level themselves, because they follow in their footsteps, they enter contests that will expose them to the same punishment too. Think: what state are our people in? If you follow them, they will lead you into deviation, they will drag you into punishment.
And on top of that they make a contest show. What contest is this? Is it the contest of who will enter Hell first? The contest of who will wrong their own self more? The contest of who can best act in a way that goes outside Allah's command? Yes. Now do you understand the Dajjal? Who is the Dajjal? The Prophet (peace be upon him), every prophet warned his own community, he said, of the Dajjal. He warned them of the Dajjal. O my community, the Dajjal will appear in your time. There are two meanings here. Prophets do not lie. If they warned their communities of the Dajjal, that time had its Dajjals too.
The Dajjals of that time were, like the Pharaohs, the spoiled and financially powerful people of that land, who did not recognise Allah and His Messenger, who did not recognise their prophets. What did Allah Almighty do? He destroyed many of them. That was their Dajjal. They, in this time: the Dajjal will appear in your time, the single eye. It appeared in our time.
The televisions.
So in every age there is a Dajjal. But the Dajjal with images appeared in our time. The media uses it. Yes.
Now the subject is probably better understood. Let us take the subject from a few sentences above now. Let us complete this paragraph. Let us read it from a paragraph above. After explaining this much. O you who believe! If you follow most of the people on earth, they will lead you astray from the way of Allah. According to this verse, most people are far from Allah and His Messenger, people who carry on their lives on dark and swampy paths, driven by the nafs and by Satan, and who take pleasure in that way of living. These are people who, with feelings of the nafs, run after their lusts, who swim in troubles thinking they are living, and who take those for life.
If they carry on their lives like this, they will see no comfort in either world. In their eternal life too they become wrongdoers against their own selves. If you are deceived by the great number of these people and envy their lives, and saying I too must live like them, you follow such people, they will hold you back from the path of the friends of Allah and turn you away. They will drag you into deviation. Now it is probably better understood. Once it is opened up, it is better understood. They follow nothing but conjecture. And they speak nothing but lies. Because people are created in the marketplace of helplessness, Allah Almighty, with prophets and scholars, with Books, holding a light for people, has sent prophets to lead the way before them, has sent them.
So that those people are saved from oppression, from hardship, from every kind of trouble, so that if they obey Allah's commands they may live a good life, so that with a peaceful life, by fulfilling Allah Almighty's commands, believing, they may come into His presence with both their world and their hereafter, Allah Almighty sends His scholars, His prophets, His Books. In this case, in this case, if these people turn their backs on Allah's commands, if they put out the lights before them, the lights. Look what it says here.
In verse 17 of Surah Al-Baqarah. Their state, that of the hypocrites, is like a fire burning on a dark night, He says. A fire; there is nothing before him, no proof, so that he may have a share of the light. So Allah Almighty sees this thing, His verses, their way of life as a dark night. And the verses, to a fire, a light before him, a warm proof, He likens them. Their state, that of the hypocrites, is like a fire burning on a dark night. The fire; when the fire lights up its surroundings, those who put out the fire leave themselves in darkness. They no longer see. They do not see. But look what it says here.
It has been interpreted wrongly. Because it was interpreted wrongly, people have always evaluated the verses backwards in this way. People have moved away from the truth. Their state, that of the hypocrites, is like someone who lights a fire on a dark night. The moment that fire burns and lights up its surroundings, Allah immediately takes away their light. Well, why did You send this Book and give it to him as a leader before him, and then took away their light again? Can there be such a God? Can there be such a God? Light the fire, here is your proof, and then, take it, there is none for you?
Take it from before him. But He came as a mercy to the worlds, He came for all His servants. Allah Almighty would not discriminate between people. He would not discriminate between servants. Now you see the absurdity here. Let me look at another. Their state, that of the hypocrites, is like someone who lights a fire on a dark night. The moment that fire burns and lights up its surroundings, Allah immediately takes away their light and leaves them in darkness. They no longer see anything, it says. Why would Allah take away their light? Yet what do we say here? Their state, that of the hypocrites, is like a fire burning on a dark night.
Like a fire burning on a dark night. And what does this one say? Their state, that of the hypocrites, is like someone who lights a fire on a dark night, it says. One who lights a fire. Just look at that. If he lit the fire, then he will manage himself. He is the one who lit the fire. That is, the one who lit up his way. There is so much absurdity here too. Yet what do we say? It is like a fire burning on a dark night. The fire is Allah's verse. Allah's light. When the fire lights up its surroundings, that is, when the fire lights up its surroundings, those who put out the fire leave themselves in darkness.
Here too someone lights the fire. In this case, it says, it is like someone who lights a fire in a dark place. That is, that person is able to light his own way. The moment that fire burns and lights up its surroundings, Allah immediately takes away their light, it says. How? He makes Him show enmity to the unbeliever, or makes Him discriminate between people. And that person was supposedly able to manage himself and was lighting his own way. Yes, so they follow nothing but conjecture, and they speak nothing but lies. Why? Because their reason is incomplete. Allah sends them His verses as leader and light before them, so that they may live in peace.
If they go outside these verses, of course, since their reason does not reach, since they manage themselves only with difficulty, they can only live in helplessness, in darkness. Yes, in this case, in this case, outside Allah's verses, the conjectures that their own reason, that tiny reason, gives them, whims, feelings of the nafs, Satan's temptation, because they lack Allah's verse. He has gone outside it. Even though with his reason he is in a position to find what is right, since those feelings of the nafs and of Satan envelop his reason, they rule over his reason. That is, he puts his reason out of action.
So within his own feelings of the nafs he follows conjectures. And within those conjectures there are constantly lies. So these are lying unbelievers. Allah Almighty says so.
How beautifully the verses confirm one another.
In the previous verse Allah Almighty says the word of your Lord is complete in truth and justice. In this case, according to the verse, those who do not follow Allah and His Messenger, who turn their backs on them, who do not listen to and do not like Allah's word, who turn their backs on the verses, turn their backs on the verse's word, the word of your Lord is complete in truth and justice, and the opposite of this verse's word, (?) is a lie. What is the counterpart of truthfulness? The opposite of the truth is a lie. Yes. They are paths of deviation.
So Allah proves clearly and plainly that these people, those who run after conjecture, are liars.
Yes. For this reason they know no word but lies.
Because they have nothing to do with the truth. And their reason is partial; yes, that reason is in a position to manage itself, but he has not turned that reason to the truth; he has turned it to the feelings of the nafs. And he has also turned it to Satan's temptation. A person who, through Satan's temptation, sees this swamp that his nafs shows him as life through rose-tinted glasses puts his reason out of action. In this case, in his nafs, through Satan's temptation, and what does Satan say? In Hell he says to these people: Allah made you a promise, and I made you a promise, but I turned out to be a liar to you.
That word of his, that he turned out to be a liar, since in this world too he drags you with lies down the same path, they are the liars themselves. The liars. The verses (?). We are saying it with verses. Yes. For this reason they know no word but lies. Because they are following Satan. They are liars. Those who carry on their lives with lies and turn their backs on the verses spend their lives in empty talk and chatter. In chatter. Of course these have become people who are liars and run after conjectures. Yes.
