Translation

If you believe in Allah’s verses, eat from that on which Allah’s name has been pronounced.

Tafsir

If you believe in Allah and His Verses, and if you have embraced Islam, then slaughter the animals you slaughter by mentioning the name of Allah (bismillah Allah'u akbar) and eat the meat of the animals slaughtered by mentioning the name of Allah (bismillah). And do not eat of the flesh of animals slaughtered or slaughtered in the name of others besides Allah, ascribing partners to Allah.

Some of the Arabs said, 'You believe in Allah and you do not eat what Allah kills. They said that what Allah kills is more worthy to be eaten. But those who turn their backs on the Qur'an and look for shortcomings in it, try to judge with their half-baked minds. However, Allah has enumerated what is forbidden. These are carrion, blood and pork. Only a person who is in great distress may eat of these until he is in prosperity, until he is satiated and does not die. Other than that, they are forbidden. The reason is that the meat of these animals is contaminated with germs, and when people eat the meat of these animals, their health will deteriorate, so Allah (swt) has forbidden them for the protection of people. Because the knowledge of the time and the mental capacities of the people could not comprehend this, and because of their enmity against Allah, they show their enmity against Allah (swt) by saying that the animals that Allah kills are more deserving to be eaten.

What is said in the video

Verse 118 of Surah Al-An'am. The verse: If in Allah's verses you believe, eat of what is slaughtered with His name mentioned over it, says our Lord. Well then, my Lord created this, my Lord created this too, my Lord created this too, my Lord created this too. I will eat what is slaughtered over this name of Allah; well, He created this, He created that, but why will this not be eaten when it is not slaughtered in Allah's name? Allah created this too. Ah, why will it not be eaten? Let us say it now.

Those who, with their hands, Allah's creations (?) and shape them,

who open their hands to them and implore them as God,

the idolaters, because they associate partners with Allah, the idolaters. What Allah created, what He created, they slaughter in its name.

So our Lord says: since there is no such god, yes, I created this, but because he slaughtered it in its name, because he associated partners with Me, do not eat it, He says. Yes. That too is a command of our Lord to us. That is why we do not eat what is slaughtered in the name of other than Allah.

Now let us come to the idolaters opening their hands and imploring their idols.

Allah Almighty gives them an example in the Holy Quran.

Water flowing from a fountain, from a spout, He says; a person, He says, has stretched out his hand to it to drink water, He says. Unless he brings his mouth to that water, He says, the water will not come to his mouth, He says. What a beautiful example Allah Almighty gives.

Those idols that you (?) with your hand and set up as equal to Allah, if you implore them as god, Allah Almighty says in His verse: a seeing eye, does it have one? Does it have a hearing ear? Does it have a speaking tongue? Does it have a gripping hand? Does it have a walking foot? What does it have, He says. He goes on counting. Does it have life? Does it have a heart? Does it have a spirit? Is there life in it? So if you stretch your hand out to it, you act foolishly. Stretch your mouth, He says, your mouth to the water. That is, truly, He says, turn to Allah. Do not seek help from Allah's creations, He says.

Yes.

So if you believe in Allah's verses, eat of what is slaughtered with His name mentioned over it. Of the others (?).

If you believe in Allah and in Allah's verses, if you have been honoured with Islam, slaughter your animals with Allah's name mentioned over them, slaughter them saying Bismillah, Allahu Ekber, or eat the meat of animals slaughtered saying Bismillah, Allahu Ekber. Ascribing partners to Allah, in the name of others than Allah do not eat the meat of animals slaughtered or cut at the throat. Throat cut, blood not drained. But, He says, what a wild beast has torn apart, He says, if you reach it before it dies and slaughter it, eat it. After it has died, do not eat its meat either, He says, of what the wild beast has torn apart.

Yes.

In this case, Allah Almighty, in the previous verse, was holding a light before us, wasn't He. How beautiful. He lights up our way. What shall we pay attention to? What shall we pay attention to? And what shall we eat? Which are lawful? Which are forbidden? How beautifully He makes these known to us. What if He did not make them known? Look, the unbelievers gobble away too. You are right. They gobble away too. They even eat cats and dogs. (?) But think that all diseases arise from there. All diseases, ailments come from them. They always spread from there. Ailments, diseases. So if you live by Allah's command, what He made lawful for you, what He made forbidden, if you know these, He who created your body, Allah Almighty, what will be good for your body, what will not be good, since He knows, before you that which will not disturb your body, which will disturb you, which will not disturb you, the foods, He lists them out, and you too, to that word of your Lord you conform; those not good for your body, if you eat them, if you do not eat them, you live in peace, in health.

They eat pork too. It has trichina in it. That trichina: all germs, while food cooks, while meat cooks, die. The trichina does not die. It passes into the human body and causes various diseases. That is why a person will obey Allah's command. By Allah's command.

Yes.

If you believe in Allah and in Allah's verses, if you have been honoured with Islam, slaughter the animals you slaughter mentioning Allah's name over them. Say Bismillah, Allahu Ekber. Slaughter, or eat the meat of animals slaughtered saying Bismillah, Allahu Ekber. Ascribing partners to Allah, of animals slaughtered or cut at the throat in the name of others than Allah do not eat the meat either.

Now here I cannot skip explaining how an animal is to be slaughtered. Three of the animal's legs are tied. The right hind leg is left free. At the animal's throat, from the place to be cut, from the windpipe there, after cutting the jugular vein, we will wait for its blood to drain. Why will we wait for its blood to drain? All germs, in humans and in animals alike, circulate in the blood. As you know, the red blood cells of the blood give it its red colour. And the white blood cells fight the germs. Isn't that so, pharmacist? It is. Yes. When the white blood cells can no longer eat the germs entering the body, when they weaken, the human body loses its resistance and falls ill.

A person goes to the doctor, the doctor diagnoses the disease. He gives the person the dead germ as (?). Or gives it in a pill. These white blood cells, eating that dead germ, build up immunity against it. Then, eating the live germs too, the person recovers from the disease. Yes.

If we do not drain the animal's blood fully, if there is a germ in the animal, so that the meat will be tasty, if they kill the animal by striking it (?), stunning it, the meat will absorb the blood, that germ will pass into the meat, and the meat will pass into you.

Allah protects the human body, and for when animals are slaughtered, too, He tells us how they should be slaughtered, so that when you eat their meat it does not harm you; these conditions too He makes known to us. Yes.

Some of the Arab people said: you believe in Allah, and yet what was killed by, what Allah has killed, you do not eat, it says. You do not eat what Allah has killed. Yet what Allah has killed is more worthy of being eaten, they said. You know, the animal dies; carrion, that is.

But those who turn their backs on the Quran, who set out to look for deficiency in it, with their half-baked minds set out to pass judgement. Yet Allah has listed the things that are forbidden. These are carrion, blood and pork. Of these, only one who (?), until (?), in a way that he does not become full and does not die may eat. Apart from that, eating them is forbidden. The reason is that since the meat of these animals carries germs, when people eat the meat of these animals their health would be ruined; so Allah Almighty, to protect people, has forbidden these to people. Since the knowledge of that time and people's mental capacity could not grasp this, and because of their enmity toward Allah, saying the animals Allah has killed are more deserving to be eaten, with their own helplessness and ignorance, toward Allah Almighty they display their enmity.
