What is the reason for not eating from that which has been slaughtered by the name of Allah while Allah has explained to you the things that are unlawful for you, except when you don’t have any other way? Verily, many lead astray (others) by ignorantly following their bad desires. Verily, your Lord knows well those who transgress.

Tafsir

There is no reason why you should not eat the meat of animals which Allah has made lawful and pure for mankind and which have been slaughtered by mentioning the name of Allah. Indeed, the polytheists do not eat it because it has not been slaughtered in the way they are accustomed to slaughter it, because they have deviated from their false beliefs and the gods they associate with Allah, and because they have strayed in ignorance, following their own evil desires.

But Allah has made clear to you (what He has forbidden that you are helpless to eat): carrion, blood and pork. The meat of an animal that has been torn apart by beasts and has not been slaughtered is also inedible. There are also some animals that are not to be eaten, which we have explained in previous lessons.

Allah (swt) addressed those who made forbidden to themselves what He had made lawful for mankind; (verily, many are misguided in ignorance, following their own evil desires.) These are the idolaters and the People of the Book. Some of the things that Allah has made lawful, they have made unlawful for their own souls out of their own evil desires, that is, out of enmity and hatred against Allah, and out of their own fabrications.

(Surely Allah knows very well those who transgress.) He knows what His creatures will do and how they will pass on to the Hereafter, while in the worldly realm, in the life of a human being, He does not know what they will do until the end of their lives. In this respect, Allah is all-knowing.

What is said in the video

(?) our daughter.

"What reason do you have not to eat of that over which Allah's name was mentioned at slaughter?" it says. Allah Almighty had told us what is forbidden. What was it? Pork, carrion, blood. And animals not slaughtered in Allah's name. That is, the sacrifices the polytheists vowed to their idols. Sir, even of these, being cautious, people in dire straits, at the point of death, until they reach (?), without regarding it as lawful, that is, without exceeding the limit — there is no harm even in their eating it, Allah Almighty permits it. Yes.

What was it? What reason do you have not to eat of that over which Allah's name was mentioned at slaughter? "Whereas Allah has explained to you what He has forbidden, unless you are compelled to eat it out of necessity," it says. Being left helpless — how beautifully it says it. Whereas Allah has explained to you, unless you are compelled to eat out of necessity, that is, the things He has forbidden, He has explained them to you. You may eat of it when you are helpless, it says. "Indeed, many, out of ignorance, following their own evil desires, lead others astray." Yes.

As we said before, the Arab polytheists, when the Prophet (peace be upon him) recited the verses, that is, the rulings of the Sharia,

would say: what is more fit to eat is the meat of a dead animal. What dies, they say, is fit to eat. These people. Whereas what dies is carrion. Because its blood has not flowed. And an animal killed by a beast of prey, it says, is not eaten, it says. But if you reach it before it dies, it says, and save it by slaughtering it, that is, take its life, that is, if you slaughter it, slaughtering it before it dies, it says, if you reach it and slaughter it, you may eat of it, it says. Say it has torn it apart, but it has not died yet. If you reach it, it says, and slaughter it, you may eat these too, says Allah Almighty.

Yes, and they say that, in response to what these Arab polytheists said, this verse was revealed. "There is no reason for you not to eat of the meat of animals that Allah Almighty has made lawful and right for people and that are slaughtered mentioning Allah's name over them," it says. You can eat this with good appetite. Because Allah Almighty created the human body. He knows what will be good for it and what will not, He knows. Though they were lawful, because of their rebellion against Allah, some parts of animals — of their meat, their intestines, their inner fat — He had forbidden to some peoples, for example to the Children of Israel.

But since no prophet will come again, and since until the Day of Judgment the Prophet's, that is, the religion of Islam, will remain valid, and since all people on earth will find life through Allah Almighty's mercy, His attribute al-Rahman, whatever has been made lawful for Islam has likewise been made lawful for other people. Whatever has been made forbidden for Islam has likewise been made forbidden for other people. So what is understood here is that the Quran came to the worlds. Yes. In this Noble Quran that came to the worlds, those who carry out Allah Almighty's command and those who do not, during their lifetimes, those who know they are in a test, or those who do not, by living their own lives, show themselves, those around them and Allah what kind of person they are, as witnesses. Yes.

So, there is no reason for you not to eat of the meat of animals that Allah Almighty has made lawful and right for people and that are slaughtered mentioning Allah's name over them, it says. Surely the polytheists, according to their false beliefs and the gods they associate with Allah, do not eat it, because it was not killed by the strangling they are used to. Yes. What are we saying here about them? According to their false beliefs and the gods they associate with Allah, because it was not killed by the strangling they are used to, they do not eat it. They insist on strangling it. Its blood will stay inside, it will not flow.

That is how they will eat it, as carrion. Whereas Allah has explained to you what He has forbidden, unless you are compelled to eat it out of necessity. These are carrion, blood and pork. The meat of an animal torn apart by beasts of prey and not reached in time is not eaten either. An animal that was not reached in time and died that way is not eaten. And there are some animals not to be eaten, which we explained in the earlier (?). Some animals. Allah Almighty, addressing those who forbid themselves the things He made lawful for people: "Indeed, many, out of ignorance, following their own evil desires, lead others astray." These are the idol worshippers and the People of the Book.

Some things that Allah has made lawful — yes, following their own evil desires, they go outside Allah's command.

That is, out of their enmity and hatred toward Allah, they follow what they invented and forbid them to themselves. They will slaughter for their idols, or strangle the animals, the blood staying inside, as carrion. Many of them kill the animal by striking it on the forehead, and after it dies they eat it. "Surely Allah knows best those who transgress," it says. He knows what His creatures will do and how they will pass on to the hereafter; while in this world a living person does not know even one second ahead, Allah Almighty knows what all His creatures will do until the end of their lives. For this reason Allah is the One who knows everything best.

Yes. Yes.

If people knew the things Allah Almighty has made lawful and forbidden, and in which cases they may be eaten and in which they may not, if they knew that too, if they knew that Islam gives life to people, if they knew that Allah Almighty created people very honorable, if they knew,

if they knew that no being more honorable than humans was created — but they don't know, their hodjas don't know either, and some hodjas say the angels are superior to humans. Just look at that.

That is what they say. Because they have no knowledge. Whereas they were created from the light of the Prophet.

And people were created from his spirit. And the spirit exists only in humans. And also in the essence of Allah Almighty. (?) And if angels had been above humans, Allah Almighty — exceeding the bounds, God forbid — would not have sent the Prophet as a mercy to the worlds.

Yes. If only people knew that they too were created very honorable, and if only they knew that when they carry out Allah's command they will live very peacefully in this worldly life. Very peacefully. If only they knew they would be freed from stress. From stress — how will they be freed from stress? By putting their trust in Allah. That we cannot take a single (?) from this world to the hereafter. That within our destiny Allah Almighty puts us to the test, that He tests us in our lives and our wealth, sometimes in plenty and sometimes in want, that we are passing travelers in this world, and that in the end we will all taste death and pass on to the hereafter, and finally the Last Day will come and, in the presence of Allah Almighty, at the Supreme Court, we will be called to account — if only they knew.

If only they knew. If only they compared this world with the hereafter and, preferring the hereafter to this world, worked to build up the hereafter. And carried out Allah's commands while also earning their living in this world.

Then who could give those people the peace that Islam will give them? Who could show the way Allah Almighty has shown these people? Yes. But sadly they rebel against Allah's command. They follow their own whims and desires. They follow in Satan's footsteps. And Satan drives people to interest, gambling, alcohol, to strip stark naked, and distances them from Allah. He makes them suffer depression amid the desires of the nafs. And he ruins their hereafter too. But if you ask them, in this swamp of a world, they think they are living. Because the nafs deceives them. And Satan, (?), shows them this world through rose-tinted glasses.

And I say: O people, do not be deceived by these. You are a traveler in this world. A traveler. Do not take on your back this load you cannot carry and get stranded on the road. What do I liken these people to? A ship sailing on the oceans. Waves surround them from every side. And finally the ship sinks. But the ship is loaded with treasure. Instead of saving his life from the ocean, the man rushes at the treasure in the hull, and by taking it on his back he destroys his own life, casting himself to the bottom of the sea. Whereas if, instead of clinging to that treasure, he had clung to the lifebuoy, perhaps he would have lived.

That is, if he had clung to Allah's commands, he would have attained our Lord's mercy in His presence. Yes.

Use your reason.

The blessing of reason is a very great blessing. As I always say. Use your reason.

Compare this world with the hereafter. Do not go outside Allah's commands. Know the lawful and the forbidden very well. Even though you know them, never follow your nafs and Satan's footsteps, turn your back on your reason and approach what is forbidden. Yes.
