Translation

Allah is the One Who has created trellised and non-trellised gardens, dates with varying produce, grains, and olives and pomegranates of which some resemble each other, and some don’t. Eat from the fruit of each of these when they give fruit. And when they are collected and gathered, give their rights (pay obligatory alm and give charity), but do not waste since Allah does not like those who waste.

Tafsir

By sending many of His Verses in a similar manner, Allah (swt) explains all kinds of examples in a way that people can understand, in order to prove His existence and to encourage people to contemplate, to think and to know Allah with their minds. Because Allah has created the intellect to know Himself. In this respect, He says in many of His verses: (Don't you ever ponder), (Don't you ever think), (I will hold you to account for not using your intellect). Thus, by showing the grape orchards, crops, and various date gardens, He proves that there is a creator of these, that although they resemble each other, their tastes and odors are different, the way they are arranged in a cluster, that although they grow in the same place, they have different products, different tastes and flavors, and that no one other than Allah, who is the owner of power and might, who encompasses the universe with His knowledge, can create this, and by continuing; He also shows the vegetation, which is the opposite of these. By showing that olives are found on the branches of trees, one by two, and their color is black, and that pomegranates have thousands of seeds in a shell, their color is red, and that He creates the fruits and vegetables and creatures in the color and color He wishes, and that the tastes and flavors of these two fruits, which He gives as an example in the verse, are different, Allah proves His Essence by showing that He creates all kinds of beings, products, fruits, plants and animals in the way He wishes. And it is only Allah who does that.

(When each of them bears fruit, eat of its fruit) The saying "eat of its fruit" means to remember the blessings Allah has given you and thank Him.

When the fruit is harvested and the crop is gathered, give it its due (on the day it is harvested). Allah, Who has created it as sustenance for mankind, has made it so that when it is harvested from these orchards, when it is gathered, distribute it to people for charity or for zakat. Except for those who depend on these trees for their livelihood and provide for their children.

Eat and drink of the fruits of these trees or of what Allah has provided for mankind, but do not waste. For Allah does not love the wasteful. Waste is both a waste of time and a waste of rights. Suppose a person works, he spends his time to get the reward for his work. If he wastes his time and labor when he gets his reward, he wastes his time and labor, and since other people have rights on this sustenance given to him, he irresponsibly usurps the rights of others. Wastefulness is forbidden because the wasted goods have rights for oneself and other people, and Allah does not love the wasteful.

What is said in the video

Verse 141 of Surah Al-An'am: trellised and untrellised vineyards, their produce, date palms of all kinds, crops, olives and pomegranates, alike and unlike, it is He who created them, it says. Küllü şey'in kadîr. He created everything with His knowledge, with His knowledge. so He knows the secret of creation.

Would Allah, who is free of all deficient attributes, ever abrogate verses with a hadith?

Not just anyone, people who know themselves laugh at this.

Yes.

When each of them bears fruit, eat of its fruit, it says. He created them for us. Whatever we need, eat and drink. He has put it all there. Grow them on the earth with their seeds. Eat and drink. Yes. On the day it is harvested and gathered, give its due, its zakat and charity, its charity. Yes. When you gather it, don't be selfish, it says. Give some of it to those in need too. Give from it as charity, as zakat.

It is the eye's due. Give. Back then I was a child, I was traveling. When old cars went up a slope, up a slope, they couldn't pull much, we'd climb it on foot. Behind the car. In my childhood. Sometimes we would pass hazelnut orchards like this. The men would call us. Come, my child, come. They would give us hazelnuts from there. No. Look at these fine ways of theirs, in their religion, in their religious beliefs. So they are aware of these verses of Allah. Sir, come, my child, come, let me give you hazelnuts, they'd say. They would fill our arms with hazelnuts. And we would go on, cracking and eating them.

In the old days there were (?) cars; going up a slope they would climb groaning. On old journeys, loads were (?) on top of the cars like this. Those (?) cars would also overheat a lot. The man would sometimes stop, sometimes drive. We'd go from one place to another in two days and a night. Lying down, resting along the way. Yes.

So when we harvest the fruits, we will also give their zakat and charity.

Yes, we repeat the verse. Trellised and untrellised vineyards, their produce, date palms of all kinds, crops, olives and pomegranates, alike and unlike, it is He who created them. When each of them bears fruit, eat of its fruit, and on the day it is harvested and gathered give its due, its zakat and charity. But do not waste, for Allah does not love the wasteful. Yes. Do not waste. Rather than wasting, if your nafs did not desire something, if you are going to throw it away, you will find people who need it and give it. Don't throw it away. But when you say your nafs doesn't like it, that is a nice pomegranate. You may not like it.

But that pomegranate is not rotten. A sound pomegranate. Or a sound fruit. You may not like that fruit. Well, don't waste it, don't throw it away, it says. Give it to someone in need. But something your own nafs won't eat, that is, something that came off or went bad, it is not right for you to go and give that to someone else either. If you can't make your own nafs eat them, you won't give them either. Spoiled ones, rotten ones. Giving them to them, saying I'm doing a good deed, is not good. What does Allah Almighty say? Unless you give from what you love, unless you give charity from what you love, you will have (?) your nafs.

In this case, what your own nafs desires, and because you love that thing you desire, can you give charity from what you love? Then you will have mastered your nafs. Allah Almighty sends many of His verses resembling one another, tells every kind of example in a way people will understand; it is a proof of His existence, and so that people, led to reflection, to thinking, may know Allah with their reason. Many things resemble one another. This is a reminder. That is, what does it say? We never refrain from giving a likeness of a mosquito or something greater, it says. That is, in a way the most ignorant person and the most learned person will understand, We bring people every kind of likeness, it says.

Every kind of likeness. So the verses are a reminder. A reminder.

Because Allah created reason as knowing His essence. Here, when I say knowing His essence, when I say He created reason as knowing His essence, I mean not, look, I am your Lord, I created you. That is, every reason knows: a Lord created me. Since there is no god but Allah, we say knowing His essence. But one must know it like this, of course. You know, they said yes, it says, yes. When He said, I am your Lord. They said yes, it says. Whereas in the verse it says: My beloved, pay no heed to their denying you. In their time they betrayed Me too, it says. Yes.

So there they denied Allah Almighty. If they had not denied, Allah Almighty, they will not see (?), would not have sent us that verse. That is, there is no god but Allah. Waiting for the Lord in their imagination, they denied Me. The meaning of the yes here: every reason, every reason knows: a Lord created me. That it knows this. You know how the materialist denies Allah, says we came from animals, attributes everything to nature; if he did not know that he was created by a Lord, he would not set out to prove it. Now we see this as a (?). This (?). Can one make a claim about something that does not exist?

Can the origin of something that does not exist be told? It isn't there, because it doesn't exist. But you set out to deny something that exists. So here, that yes: when Allah Almighty first created man, when Allah Almighty said to your spirits, I am your Lord, then, saying yes, I was created; because our Lord created him close to man's essence, man, out of pride and arrogance, denied the Lord who created him. He waited for the Lord in his imagination. All of them? No. They split into three groups. When He said, I am your Lord. As we always explain, we have new children joining. Let us explain it to them too.

Ve küntüm ezvâcen selâseh fitin ezbaç: three classes coming from one another, it says. Fe ashâbü'l-meymeneti mâ ashâbü'l-meymeneh, O people of the left, glad tidings to you. Ve ashâbü'l-meş'emeti mâ ashâbü'l-meş'emeh, O people of the left, woe to you. I seek Allah's forgiveness, I seek Allah's forgiveness. (?) And we speak of a third group. The group of the foremost. The group of the saints, the prophets, the martyrs, the (?). So we separated there. The people of the left. Who are they? Those who deny Allah. Those who wait for the Lord in their own imagination. But I want to put a full stop here.

When I say the people of the left, I do not mean those within Islam, being Muslim, who are leftists. They too are among the branches of Islam; in fact the finest, Islam splits into seventy-three sects, you know, the Ahl al-Sunnah, the Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, the one most nobly ruled, the Sunnah (?) ruled, of my ummah, he says, the finest is the one that is Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, says the Prophet. Well, who are the people of the left here? Those who deny Allah. Idolaters. Idolaters. Those who seek a god other than Allah and wait for the Lord in their own imagination; that it is so, this verse already supports. Had We willed, We would have created a single ummah.

And We would have sent down angels from the sky, it says, hanging down, and made them prostrate. So they are waiting in their imagination for such an angel hanging down from the sky. Yes. In this case, in this case all of people's common ground is here. There. In that stage of Alastu bi-rabbikum. That is why people in the hereafter, because they denied Allah, are in the position of the left. The left. And the leftists too, roughly, those who say I am a leftist, some chasing ideologies, within the sects of Islam itself, with Allah, the faith, the belief that is between them and Allah. Yes.

Sir, Allah created it, it says, as knowing His essence. So in this respect every reason, every reason knows its Lord, knows that it was created by a Lord.

In this case Allah Almighty, in His verse, says: Do you never think? Because you did not use your reason, I will call you to account, says Allah Almighty. I will call you to account, He declares. So by showing the vineyards, produce, and date orchards of all kinds He gives as examples, that they have a Creator He makes known to us. Yes, although they resemble one another, that their tastes and scents are each different, their shapes strung in one cluster, although they grow in the same place, different products have different tastes and flavors, being strung in a cluster. The date too is strung in a cluster.

The grape too is strung in a cluster. Sir, they grow in the same place. But because their natures are different, in different, different colors, different tastes and flavors, Allah Almighty presents His creative power to people. His creative power, strength, knowledge, and He bestows gifts on people. Yes.

Continuing by proving that none but Allah, who has strength and power and encompasses the universe with His knowledge, could create this. He also shows the plants that are their opposite. The plants. The olive found one or two at a time on tree branches, its color being black, the pomegranate with thousands of seeds inside one skin, its color being red, His creating whatever fruit, vegetable and creature He wills in the color He wills, in many colors. And while they form, their turning into several colors, for example the fig, for example the olive first comes out greenish. Then that (?), again in its green, a different taste, turning yellowish and taking a color, or turning black, shows it has ripened.

Sir, the olive too, that it has truly ripened on the tree, that by turning black it has ripened, it shows. Sir, every fruit too, as it forms, we see it change shapes from time to time like this. When I say shape, I don't mean the shape of its form. For example its color, let's say while yellow or green, its turning yellow, its changing colors as it ripens. For example I have a plum tree in my garden. The plum tree first comes out green, green like this, green, then it turns red, the green plum. It becomes bright red, fully ripe. Yes.

His creating His creatures in the color, the colors He wills; in the verse, by showing that these two fruits He gives as examples have different tastes and flavors, by showing that He created every kind of being, produce, fruit, plant and animal as He wills, Allah Almighty proves His essence. And the one who does this is Allah alone.

All this strength and power exists only in Allah's essence. No being can be equal to Allah Almighty. No being. Nor can there be a partner. Nor can there be a partner.

When each bears fruit, eat of its fruit. When each bears fruit, eat of its fruit. His saying eat of its fruit means: remembering the blessings Allah gave you, give thanks to Allah, He declares. Praise and glory be to Allah who gave us this. One must give thanks, saying praise and glory be to our Lord who fed us this fruit in this health and well-being. Sir, look at people: they eat and drink, eat and drink. They don't even bring Allah to mind. Just once, give thanks for the blessings your Lord gave. Say Allah, and the greatest blessing He gave you is your health. Yes. When the fruits form and the harvest is gathered, on the day it is harvested and gathered, give its due; in the verse, Allah, who created these as provision for people, says when the produce taken from these orchards is harvested, that is, gathered, distribute it to people for good deeds or for zakat.

Why? Distribute it; it is the eye's due of the people in that garden. They saw it, they longed for it. They feared Allah and did not violate your right. What Allah created they saw as your property, the return for your labor, and they did not violate your labor. But if what your Lord created, the blessing He offers you, you give as charity or alms for Allah, your Lord gives you more. Yes.

Except those who earn their living from these trees and support their wife and children's provision with it. For such a person, his garden will only meet the needs of his wife and children. (?) but he himself is in need. Zakat isn't due from him anyway. From whom is zakat due, say? For example, I have grapes. In the garden there are black grapes and such, very nice vines. When they ripen, there are tons of them. We are only two, me and the wife. All the people at the association eat and drink. Those who come and go. We give to the guests who come to us there. The wife gathers some too. She boils some of the grapes.

She presses the grape juice. Sometimes we drink it. But we don't waste.

It's open to whoever comes, everyone eats.

If I were in need, I'd gather it and sell it at the market. I'd buy this and that for my wife and children. Since I'm not in need, in this case we give it as charity, we give it away. Our children come, they gather it, take it and bring it. They eat, they drink. Yes.

Eat and drink of the fruits of these trees, or of the provision Allah gave people. But do not waste. For Allah does not love the wasteful. Now sometimes things remain on them, grapes remain. You know, we can't gather them, they dry up. That, we say, is the animals' due. We take them, they stay at the side. And truly the animals come and eat them when they are hungry. Yes.

In waste, in waste there is both loss of time and also rights. A person works (?). He spends his time to get the return for his work. When he gets that return, if he wastes what he got, he has squandered his time and labor. And since others also have rights over this provision given to him, he has also irresponsibly usurped others' rights. Since over wasted goods there are both his own right and the rights of other people, waste is forbidden. In this respect Allah does not love the wasteful.
