Every nation has an ending. When their ending comes, they can neither stay back for a moment, nor go forward.
Tafsir
Allah (swt) has assigned to each of His creatures a lifespan and at the end of that lifespan an expiry date, that is, a time of death. When their time is up, they will not be left forward or backward even for a moment. Allah (swt) has made the life span of human beings dependent on breath. In this respect, Islam attaches great importance to human health. People who live in good health can live long lives because they breathe normally. People who do the opposite, who spoil their health by drinking, gambling, smoking, living in excitement, using objects that are not commanded by Allah, will consume their lives quickly because they will breathe in and out frequently. For this reason, Allah has made forms of worship, ablution, prayer and fasting obligatory for people to live in good health. These forms of worship keep the human body fit.
Those who observe them or do not observe them will also be held accountable according to the following verse (I will hold you to account for the way in which you use the bodies I have given you). Those who keep their bodies fit and healthy according to Allah's Verses will live their lives to the fullest. Since Allah has willed that people should live a healthy life within the lifespan He has given them, He has informed them of what is lawful and unlawful through His Verses. According to the verse (Every soul will taste death), when a human being reaches the end of his/her life, he/she will surely drink the wine of death. He will be questioned before Allah on the Day of Reckoning, which is true.
Man will not escape death, nor will he escape being held accountable before Allah. When Allah (swt) says that every nation has an expiry date, He is reminding people of death and informing them that they will not escape death and that the dying person will not be favored and his life will not be prolonged. At the moment of death, it will be of no use for that person to regretfully say, 'O Allah, send me back, see how I will worship You. He declares to us with his verses that he will go to a realm from which there is no return, and that people should know the value of their lives accordingly.
What is said in the video
Surah Al-A'raf, verse 34. Every community has a term, every community. When He says community, living beings, every creature there is, living beings. plants, animals, humans, jinn, angels included, every community has a term.
When their term comes, they can neither stay back a moment nor go ahead.
Allah Almighty has appointed for everything He created a lifespan, and at the end of this lifespan a term, that is, a time of death. Let us open this up a little, this sentence. We say Allah Almighty has appointed for everything He created a lifespan, and at the end of this lifespan a term, that is, a time of death; when we say that,
the setting of the lifespan here is by Allah Almighty, but since a person's lifespan, within how much time in the world he himself will prove what kind of person he is, is his desire and wish, his willed destiny, within how much time he will work out this destiny of his, let us not say time but within how many breaths, he will prove what kind of person he is. According to the person's desire and wish, according to the state in which he will prove himself, the number of breaths, that lifespan, the person has set it himself. That is, his time. And Allah Almighty knows to how much time that time amounts, to how many breaths it amounts, our Lord knows, and He gives him that as a lifespan. So a person's will, desire, wish: within how many breaths he will play out this desire and wish, Allah Almighty knows that.
That span which He knows, our Lord, by giving him that number of breaths, a lifespan is appointed for the person. In fact the person has appointed his lifespan himself. With what? With his desire, wish and will. But the person does not know to how many breaths this will amount. Because he does not know, Allah Almighty, since He knows within how much lifespan he will make himself known, knows how many breaths are needed for this, our Lord knows. He appoints that number of breaths to him as his lifespan. So Allah Almighty has appointed for everything He created a lifespan, and at the end of this lifespan a term, that is, a time of death.
There is also another meaning here. Everything created will taste death. Every living being will taste death. Every soul will taste death, and in the end your return is to Me, says Allah Almighty. Yes.
I suppose this sentence is understood. Within how long the lifespan, the lifespan will play out, the person does not know. But how many breaths it takes for him to carry it out according to his desires and deeds, our Lord knows. That many breaths He gives to that person as a lifespan. So the verse: Did you think you would die without proving what kind of person you are? comes to light in what it corresponds to. Yes.
When their appointed hour is up, they are not left even a moment ahead or behind. The reason: say a person, before completing his lifespan, Allah Almighty's decree came to pass. And at that moment the person was a kafir, but he would have repented and asked forgiveness. He would have become a Muslim. He would have gone before his lifespan. Or else the person was a Muslim but would have become a kafir. He went before his lifespan. We can compare the same thing with the lifespan being extended too. The person was a Muslim, at the end, in a moment of heedlessness, people are heedless after all, he said: what have I found in this?
For a moment he stepped outside his destiny, that is, his character, and he went as a kafir. Yet his character traits were not like that. That is why He says not an hour ahead, not an hour behind. Or not a moment ahead, not a moment behind. So neither an hour nor a moment. Is that possible here? Well, now Allah Almighty says both an hour and a moment. A moment: your death at that instant. That 'you are full', your death at that instant. Well, an hour: can't you change in an hour? In that hour either your memory shuts down, your consciousness shuts down, or you are not yourself; even if you are yourself, you carry on with the same character traits.
Yes.
Allah Almighty has made people's lifespans depend on breath. So a person's lifespan, by the things he has used, or by the un-Islamic acts he has done, this trust Allah Almighty has given us, according to the verse where He says: I will call you to account for the way you used it, if you use it in coffeehouses, in taverns, in gambling dens, sir, in such exciting fornication, in usury dealings, in bad places, your breath gets shorter; if you breathe fast, you shorten your lifespan. For example cigarettes: that nicotine poison of cigarettes fills a person's lungs, makes the breathing even faster, makes him breathe fast.
At the same time, since nicotine poison is harmful in the human body, it also cuts a person's appetite, and if a person works on little food, energy high, food little, he falls into many misfortunes and illnesses. In this respect, when breathing is fast too, today's technology says that a person who smokes shortens his lifespan by between 5 and 10 years, it says. Well, of course that is true. If he starts smoking from childhood, it shortens his lifespan by between 5 and 10 years. So if the lifespan depended on time, it would not get shorter. The lifespan depends on breath.
He uses up his breath by breathing fast.
Yes.
In this respect, in the religion of Islam great importance is given to human health. Those who do the opposite, in drink, in gambling, in smoking, in an excited life, people who ruin their health by using things Allah did not command, since they breathe in and out fast, use up their lifespans quickly. In this respect, so that people can live healthily, Allah has made the forms of worship, ablution, prayer and fasting, obligatory for people. So that people can live healthily. Today doctors prove this too. Ablution prevents heart disease. A Muslim does not get heart disease. Washing the hands, rinsing the mouth, rinsing the nose, washing the face, washing the hands up to the wrists, washing the arms, wiping the head, washing, wiping the nape and the ears, sir, washing the feet: this is what ablution is.
It prevents heart trouble. It prevents heart disease. And prayer melts the fat in your heart and in your abdominal cavities. The fat. Today people, with physical training, in those bodybuilding places, in sessions, sometimes apply the same movements as in performing the prayer. Yes. That is why, if a Muslim fulfils Allah's command over the human being, he lives healthily.
These forms of worship keep the human body fit. And those who observe them or do not will moreover, according to this verse, be held responsible. I will call you to account for the way you used the bodies I gave you, He says. How beautifully He says it. What will you say? O Allah, I prayed to keep the body You gave me fit. And I kept my fast. I made my ablution. I did not put anything haram into my body. That is, I did not resort to the haram. Well, in this way I tried to protect the trust You gave me in the best way, in health. This was a trust to me. You know how He says: when you come before Me with a driver, and against that driver, that is, the soul, the body will bear witness. That it made me commit such wrongs, made me drink like this, that it poisoned me like this, wore me out like this, made me overeat like this, or kneaded me with the haram, it will say this.
It will bear witness. You will have no loophole left. So even if you go down seven layers into the earth, even if you leave this world and go to the farthest corner of the universe, just as Allah Almighty will find us there, this driver of ours will bear witness to us. This body of ours will bear witness to us. You are rid of it only through death. Yes. If people knew this, they would not resort to such evils.
And those who observe them or do not will moreover, according to this verse, be held responsible. I will call you to account for the way you used the bodies I gave you, He says. What does one say? O Allah, I performed my prayer. I kept my fast. I gave my zakat the way You commanded. I had money. I went on my Hajj. (?). I did not put anything haram into my body. I did not drink alcohol. I did not gamble. I did not commit fornication. I did not deal in usury. I did not do things that would bring stress to my body. When he says, I tried to protect Your trust, the body too will say: yes. He did these things, he protected it. I am a witness.
The body will say it. Anyway, the good and fine deeds you did have been written by the Kiraman Katibin. It will come before you. That is, in no way will a person, in the presence of Allah Almighty, speak the way he resorted to lies in the world. Yes. Everything is out in the open. By Allah Almighty's attribute, without anyone questioning Him, against the decision our Lord gives, no one will be able to object to Him. Only when the kafirs understand that they will enter hell, He says, their eyes will pop out like sky blue, and they will throw themselves face down on the ground, He says. And We, He says, have them seized by those on duty by their forelocks, the forelocks: seized here by the nape, here, He says, seized and thrown in through a giant gate of hell, He says.
Yes.
So those who keep their bodies fit and healthy according to Allah's verses live their lifespans to the full. To the full. That is, say our Lord gave 1 trillion breaths, gave 5 trillion breaths. They live it to the full. Does the other one live it to the full? Or not? No. Let us say, let us say a normal breathing. For example, if a person takes seventy thousand breaths a day, when we say he lived seventy thousand breaths to the full, seventy thousand breaths corresponds, let us say, to a lifespan of sixty years, sir, three months, one day, 10 hours. So that, 61 years, 3 months, let us say 10 days, 1 hour; within that hour he has lived his death time to the full. His time.
If (?) shortens the number of breaths, that is, makes them faster, what happens then? Instead of taking 70 thousand breaths, if he takes 75 thousand breaths a day, or breathes eighty thousand, he has cut short the time of his lifespan. So when we say he lives to the full, within that time, however much time it is, when he fills it with its time, Allah Almighty, of the body He gave man, saying: I will call you to account for the way you used the body, when He says that, it becomes the indication that he used it fulfilling our Lord's command over us, it becomes the proof. Yes.
Since Allah wills that people live healthily within a lifespan He gives them, He has made known to them through His verses what is halal and haram. Through verses. These are halal, these are haram. Do not resort to these. If you live intertwined with these, your body becomes unwell. You fall behind in your worship. And because you acted against My command, you deserve punishment. In this way He has secured people's health, their lives, by making known the haram, by making known the halal and the haram. Yes. According to the verse Every soul will taste death, surely when a person completes his lifespan, he will drink the sherbet of death.
Finally, on that Day of Reckoning, which is true, he will be questioned in Allah's presence. Yes.
Just as a person cannot escape death, he will not escape giving account before Allah either. You could not escape death. The One who created you, who gave you a body in trust and gave you on that body your outward appearance, and who, writing down what states and actions you engage in using that body, an atom's weight of good and an atom's weight of evil, in the life of this world, holding you as witness against yourself, those around you and your Lord, makes you fill out your lifespan. Without any objection to your Lord who created you in this way, with every proof and evidence of reason, when you migrate to the hereafter, before your Lord, in the divine presence, at the Supreme Court, you are called to account.
Yes.
Just as a person cannot escape death, he will not escape giving account before Allah either. When Allah Almighty says every community has a term, reminding people of death, that they cannot run from death and escape, and that for a person whose death has come the lifespan will not be extended through favoritism, He makes known. Oh my Allah, send me back once more. I will be in prostration to You till the end of my life, he says. It is over now. You were what you were. Even if We sent you back not once but several times more, you would do the same thing. You did not say: no, O Allah, I have understood.
Don't send me back, but extend my life a few more days. No. Why? I have understood. You understood, but you understood when I showed you those realms at the moment of death. When I close that off to you, when you return to your former state, you will again live your own morals. You will live your own pledge. Because you yourself wanted your character traits with your desires and deeds, and We placed those traits in you, says Allah Almighty. In this case there is no more favoritism. Yes. Say he was even His friend, even one of the friends of Allah, what will he say? O Allah, send me back a few more days so that I may serve You.
So I may serve You more. No, He says. Why? You (?). You will do the same thing again. You will not be able to get out of your character traits. Yes. You (?) yourself, He says. So not a moment behind, nor a moment ahead, nor does favoritism work here. No favoritism. Allah treats His servants equally. Equality. Yes. And do not misunderstand this equality. I mean in the sense that He held the kafir and the Muslim as one, and so on. Because they look for a calf under the ox. Yes. The equality here: among His servants He judges with His justice without wronging any of them. Yes. So the equality among His servants, with His justice: Allah Almighty judges among His servants with His justice.
He does not (?) any one of them from another. Anyway, everyone wrongs his own self. Allah says, look, He wrongs no one. Everyone will be called to account for what his own two hands earned, He says.
At the moment of death, that person saying with regret: O Allah, send me back, look how I will worship You, will not benefit him. That he will go to a realm from which there is no return, and that accordingly a person should know the value of his life, Allah Almighty declares to us through His verses. What does He say? He declares it through the verses. O man, know that your lifespan, which cannot be measured by this treasure, is a treasure. Know how precious your lifespan is, which is of a value that cannot be measured with the treasures of the world. What is the reason? The reason: the world will pass anyway; you will reach either the torment of the eternal abode of life or its comfort.
So even if all that is in this world were yours, even if there were as much again. What does Allah Almighty say in the verse? When you are called to account, you will wish, He says, that together with this world and what is in it there were one more world, so that I could give it as ransom and be saved, you will say, He says. Yes, so in this case, without looking at the passing realm of this world,
you will know the value of this lifespan. Of your lifespan. To be a sultan of the hereafter, you will be ruled by your Lord's commands. Yes. Your Lord does not tell you: don't go near the world. Your Lord does not tell you: don't build up your world. In the best way, He says, approach the world, and in the best way build up your world too. Look what Allah Almighty says in the verse: you, He says, work hard for your world, so that perhaps your enemy fears you and you are at ease, or they admire you and become Muslims, He says. Today we admire the kafirs; aren't there those who admire the kafirs and leave Islam?
There are. So they grasped the secret of this verse and worked hard. And they put the Muslims to sleep. Sleep, sleep, lie down and sleep. In our time that is what it said in (?). Ali, sleep, sleep, lie down and sleep. Yes, so by lying and sleeping and sleeping we have come to this state.
