By Our mercy, We have saved him and the ones believed him and We have eradicated those who denied Our verses and not believed.
Tafsir
Allah saved Hud and those who were with him with the mercy of Allah, and those who turned their backs on Allah and denied the Verses of Allah were wiped out from the face of the earth.
How sad is the end of those who turn their backs on Allah and defy Him! Their destruction in the worldly world is mercy for them through death. But the agony of the eternal life in the Hereafter, which has no death, and the torment of the life in Hell, which has no salvation, is not like the agony of the worldly life. The suffering of this world's life is like the life of paradise compared to the suffering of the Hereafter.
Blessed are those people who use their minds and contemplate even a little. Those who prepare for the abode of eternal bliss without being fooled by the little benefit and fun of this transient world, and who earn Allah's pleasure by keeping their business accordingly.
Many tribes have come and gone from the earth. Many wealthy people and many poor people have lived and left the world. All people, after being tested with each other, passed on to the Hereafter. They could not take even a particle of the world with them. They are waiting for the time when they will settle down in their eternal homes by giving an account before Allah (swt), the owner of the worlds. Blessed are those people who are heirs to paradise, the land of eternal bliss, while in this world, and woe to those people who fail to use the blessing of life and the realm of property well, and are tormented in their eternal home in the hereafter!

Verse 72 Verse 72 of Surah Al-A'raf: We saved him and those with him by Our mercy, He says. When Allah Almighty is going to send a calamity on a town, those in it who believe in their Lord, who are with Him, who are in His ranks, Allah Almighty sets apart. Well, Hodja, when Allah sends a calamity on that town, We, He says, destroy them without distinction, He says. Now, don't these two verses contradict each other, Hodja? You would say this, you would.
It truly does come to a person's mind. Maybe it didn't come to your mind, but it comes to mine. (?) it comes to someone else's mind. When We send a calamity on a town, He says, We destroy all of them, the good ones in it too, without distinction. Or they are subjected to the same calamities. Well, what does it say here? We saved them, those with him, by Our mercy. And We cut off the root of those who denied Our verses and did not believe, He says. Now, when He is going to send a calamity on a town, even if the people in that town are in Allah's ranks, if they do not convey the truth to those people, if they do not convey the truth, and even if they themselves do not take part with them, if in their hearts they feel desire for them, or even if they feel no desire, if they say nothing at all, silence is consent.
Even though Allah knows his heart, even though He knows he is a Muslim, because they turned a blind eye to them in that unbelief, in that swamp, because they said not a word to them, they are subjected to the same fate. But because Allah is just, at the Supreme Court, whatever they deserve, if there is a punishment, for why didn't you tell them the truth, or why didn't you warn them although you knew, if he has a fault, he bears his fault, or if his good deeds outweigh, Allah Almighty saves him on the other side. That depends on our Lord's decision. On this side, those who explain the truth, who tell what is right, who want to bring people on Allah's way to mercy, to bring them peace in this world and to make them heirs of the hereafter, heirs of the gardens, who direct them to Allah, when Allah is going to send a calamity on that town, He takes them out of there.
He creates a reason and takes them out. A reason, He brings about a journey. What does He take out of what? He takes them out of there. And He saves them. Yes. How beautiful these verses are. But beautiful if they are opened up. Otherwise it seems as if there were a contradiction. When people open up the verses according to their own minds, it says one thing one way and another the other way. And people fall into a crisis. In this verse Allah Almighty says, We destroy, He says, the good ones in it too. And in this verse He says We save the good ones. So what is the difference? It looks as if Allah's verses contradicted each other.
But there is a great difference between them. One must know the verses. Yes.
We saved him and those with him by Our mercy. And We cut off the root of those who denied Our verses and did not believe, He says. Yes. Allah Almighty saved Hud (peace be upon him) and those with him by Allah's mercy. And those who turned their backs on Allah, who denied Allah's verses, He uprooted from the earth, cut them off. The reason? The good ones who come after would also be confused. Their character is good, their generation is fine, but what will these do this time? They will flounder among them. And then Allah Almighty sends a new generation again in a town, the good ones. Those who come after those good ones come according to their own character, and again in time they become corrupt.
For example, me, 60 years ago, 10 years, 10 years, I am 73 years old. 60 years ago, I am 10, 12, 13 years old. Up to the year 65 (?), around 78. These somewhat flesh-coloured stockings had come out, thick too, they looked just like flesh, flesh-coloured. To us, our elders, we are children of course, back then everyone with long skirts, (?) down to the heels, walking about with shawls. To those dressed like this, those elders of ours would give us five kuruş and say, go after them and shout. How should we shout? Then there were clogs, clogs made of wood like this. (?) today's slippers, but of wood.
We were children of course, it's not new here, but I'll say it. Clogs clack clack, whore (?) clack, shout that, they would say. Being children, we would follow behind them and shout at them. Well, they would make us use words like that, and those who did such evil they would kill. Those who committed adultery would be found dead by a stream. Who died? Allah knows. No. (?) lost. In this way our forefathers brought the religion 1400 (?) Sunnah to us. That is, they brought it to our childhood. Many of us who have reached these ages, many have gone, and many are still alive; from that time to this time it is as if I see the eras changing.
I see how much people have changed.
One's tongue won't bring itself to say some things. It has changed so much. A person who says I am a Muslim knows nothing of Allah, nothing of the Prophet, nothing of the Book. The Muslim says whatever his mind told him, the superstitions. And he says there is no headscarf in the Quran. Some who don't know themselves, who pass for scholars, those superstitions said on television, you know? It suits them. Since they like it, they say whatever they want this way. Because they know nothing of the Book. That is why our religion, knowing it, is for our eternal abode of happiness a fortune for us. Our fortune.
We will know it well. We will not step outside Allah's commands. We don't say: wrap yourselves in chadors. We don't say: wrap yourselves in shawls as they used to. Well then, what are you saying, Hodja? How do you say it? Abdul Qadir Gilani says the following. In your time, he says, do not dress with people's distinctions and draw all eyes upon you, he says. Do not draw all attention upon you, he says. So how shall we dress, Hodja? Look how beautiful the turbans are. We say turban, but in the past these turbans, actually the turban was a form of covering that nuns wear, although they tried to pull it in that direction, actually the headscarf is worn that way.
Draw, He says, your head coverings over your adornments, He says. What is adornment? (?), that is, draw them over your collars, He says. Well, up to your wrist bones and up to your shin bones, your contours visible, dress (?) way, He says. There are such beautiful garments. There are Islamic garments. There are civilised garments. Now these have been abandoned. A nakedness race is going on. Because people have no level of Allah, Prophet, Book. They don't even know what it is. They only compete in nakedness. Oh, how beautifully so-and-so has dressed. Look how, and yet where she has dressed, all the private parts are out in the open.
The other one, even more beautiful, takes courage and tries to wear something even more beautiful. Now I look, when we compare 60 years ago, 65 years ago, still, with today: there, the verse. Over them, He says, although only a short time had passed over that people We destroyed, He says, how they resembled their forefathers. Even if these do not resemble those unbelieving forefathers, they push Allah's limits in a way that would put them to shame. Tomorrow the children who come from them too, because they know no religion, faith, Book, slowly slowly go towards idolisation. But the end of the world is also more or less approaching.
It is approaching. Even if there is no idolisation, after a great war, after a dark era, the time of the Mahdi. Yes. But God willing. I won't see it. Those after me, the newborn, will see it, God willing, if they live long enough.
Allah Almighty says: We saved him and those with him by Our mercy and We cut off the root of those who denied Our verses and did not believe. Allah Almighty saved Hud (peace be upon him) and those with him by Allah's mercy, and those who turned their backs on Allah, who denied Allah's verses, He uprooted from the earth, cut them off. So what a sad end those who turned their backs on Allah and challenged Allah came to. How sad. To those who explain the truth. And to those who oppose the truth we say the same. We are waiting, you be waiting too. You will see whose the end of the world is, I say. Whose the end of the world is.
With superstitions, against the truth, whose the end of the world is. Yes. Their destruction in this world is, through death, a mercy for them. Death: it ended with death in this world. But death let them in through a door. Their life in the world was a mercy. Through that door it let them in, through the door of the hereafter, in. The entry into a realm with no return. If there, under that soil, his lying is a mercy for him too. Why a mercy? Alas, he will say, who raised us? Yes. They will say: what the Prophet, the prophets said was true. But in a realm with no return, these people who proved in the world what kind of person they were, these cruel people, the verse that speaks of what everyone has earned, the return of their own two hands; according to it, before Eleysallâhu bi-ahkemi'l-hâkimîn, our Lord, the Judge of judges, will not be able to keep himself from giving account.
Their destruction in this world is death and mercy for them. Whereas in the hereafter, the agony of the eternal life of the deathless realm with no death, the torment of the life of Hell with no salvation, does not resemble the agony of the worldly life. The agony of worldly life, beside the agony of the hereafter, is like the life of Paradise. The life of Paradise. Now, I had told you, when Abdul Qadir Gilani was teaching, the son of a bandit, the son of a Christian bandit, became a Muslim. The bandit, unable to stomach this, tells the Christian priest about the situation. After they set many traps and could not make the boy leave Islam, they prepare a trap.
While Abdul Qadir Gilani rides on a horse with pomp, one of his students holding the reins as they go to their destination, the bandit, in ragged clothes, together with the priest, appears before Abdul Qadir Gilani.
He says: O Abdul Qadir, you say that this world is the paradise of the unbelievers, and in the hereafter they will be subjected to torment. And for the Muslims this world is a place of torture, a place of torment. There they will reach the abode of happiness. Now, he says, while you ride on this horse with pomp, with so many people around you, he says, following you, with (?), sir, with grandeur, how is this, he says, your suffering, how is the world your prison, he says, while I, in this ragged state, in this poor state, how is this my paradise, he says. Understood, he says. What you say is understood.
He gets down from the horse.
Look, he says, inside my right sleeve.
When he looks in from his right sleeve of the robe: Oh my God, he says. Oh my God, what palaces, what, sir, unimaginable worlds; truly you are here in a prison, he says. Now look in here, he says. When he sees from the left inside those torments in Hell: Now do you believe? he says. Here, truly, compared to that, this, he says, is the paradise of the unbelievers; on the other side, and the prison of the Muslims, he says. Yes. So the Muslim is in prison here. A prison compared to there. Don't people live in prison? They eat, drink, walk around. But a prison, even if every wish he has is here, is still a prison.
It cannot be like there. It cannot be compared. But if he is an unbeliever, he is in paradise here. Compared to that torment.
In this situation, in this situation, yes, Allah Almighty,
to those who deny His being, who deny it, how beautifully He calls. O people!
Although He has made known that there is no god but Allah, and that finally every soul will taste death and return to its Lord, that He will call it to account there, that everyone will be given (?), as the return of their own (?), without anyone being wronged, people still resist. In our time too they resist. But I say this. Among those people there are people who would come so beautifully to Islam, yet they cannot hear the truth. They cannot know the truth. They cannot make them hear it, they don't let them hear it. Especially the antichrists, the one-eyed antichrists, the television antichrists, however much they speak against the religion of Islam, however much they invite people there half-naked, exposing every part and putting them on display, the more proud they become, the more arrogant they become. And so much pride and arrogance, that eternal hell, that turns the eternal abode of happiness into hell, in that place of hell they will be subjected to that much torment. Now is it worth entering that torment, is it worth suffering that torment there?
One who has reason says, he cannot say it. So come to the truth, to Allah's way, perform your prayer, keep your fast, if you have money give your zakat, go on your Hajj. So strip off the desires of your self, like pride, like arrogance, like egotism, like showing off, stay away from (?). Do not go near any form of interest. Stay away from evils like drink, like gambling, like adultery. Remember your Lord, turn to Allah, reform your self, so that you attain the mercy of the Truth. Yes.
Whereas in the hereafter, the agony of the eternal life of the deathless realm with no death, the torment of the life of Hell with no salvation, does not resemble the agony of the worldly life. The agony of worldly life, beside the agony of the hereafter, is like the life of Paradise. So happy are those people who, using their reason, even a little reflect, who, without being deceived by the small benefit and amusement of this passing realm, prepare for the eternal abode of happiness, who arrange their affairs accordingly and earn Allah's pleasure; happy are those people. Yes.
How many peoples have come and gone on the earth. How many peoples.
How many wealthy people and how many poor people lived and left the world. How many wealthy, how many poor. In the end, going, they were all wrapped in the same shroud and went. They could not take (?) from the world. From the world. The wealth was supposedly his.
Had its end been yours, you would have taken that too. (?). And what does it say? Death is real, inheritance is lawful. To the person you leave the inheritance to, if you gathered lawful and unlawful, if you gathered without saying unlawful, you will be responsible for that inheritance. And your children will spend it in full enjoyment, free of responsibility for it.
So in the world always earn from what is lawful. Leave from what is lawful, so that you are not responsible for it. So that you are not responsible for it.
The whole load I will take from the world is the load of good deeds and sins. (?). How many peoples have come and gone on the earth. How many wealthy people and how many poor people lived and left the world. After all people were tested with one another, they moved on to the hereafter. They could not take even an atom from the world. Giving account before Allah Almighty, the Owner of the worlds, they are waiting for the time to settle in their eternal, everlasting abodes. Happy are those people who, while in the worldly life, are laden with eternal happiness, who are heirs to Paradise. Woe to those people who, not using well the blessing of life and the realm of possessions, in the hereafter, in their eternal abode, are subjected to torment.
Yes.
