Translation

“Verily, in order to calm your desires, instead of going to women, you are going to men with lust. Verily, you are a transgressing nation.”

Tafsir

Hadrat Lut 'alaihis-salâm' turned to his people and said: "O my people! You leave women and approach men with lust. Indeed, you are a transgressive nation. Leaving women whom Allah has made lawful for mankind and approaching men and satisfying your lusts on men, you are doing an ugly deed which Allah has forbidden and cursed.

O My people! You have become a transgressing nation, departing from the commandments of Allah. Allah does not love the transgressing nations. Surely He gives them calamities in the earth. O my people! I am a messenger of Allah sent to you. It is my duty to guide you to the truth and to inform you of Allah's commands. You have heard that the people who transgressed on earth were destroyed by Allah (swt). Do you want this destruction to happen to you now?" Hadrat Lut 'alaihis-salâm' advised and counseled his people.

Unfortunately, advice and counsel given in people's favor is too much for their ego. They do not listen to people who give advice and counsel without compromising what they know. In this respect, these people think that they are doing right in their minds. Because they enjoy their evil deeds, because they are of the same mind, they cannot give up their evil and filthy ways.

The people who committed these evil deeds were on the path of their own ego and their own filth, so they would deliberately deny the truth, declaring that they were on the path of their ancestors, attributing their filth to their ancestors, saying that if they had not done the right thing, they would have forbidden us from these behaviors. Why did they not say that we follow the path shown by Allah when they saw the truth and reality, instead of saying that we follow the path of our ancestors? Because their intention is to deny Allah and they are rebellious against Allah, the words of Allah are not pleasing to them.

When an inviter to Allah and to the right path comes to these people, they unite in evil and together they either deny or kill the one who invites them to the truth. Because their behavior is an inheritance from their ancestors, because they are in the same mindset as their ancestors.

What is said in the video

Verse 81 of Surah Al-A'raf. Yes. For you, to satisfy lust, leave women and approach men with desire. Indeed, you are a transgressing people, it says. Lot (peace be upon him) addresses his people this way. Lot (peace be upon him) says to his people: O my people! You leave women and approach men with desire. Indeed, you are a transgressing people. Leaving the women Allah made lawful to people, approaching men, and satisfying your lust on men: something Allah has forbidden to people and cursed, (?), a very ugly thing you are doing. Very ugly. Allah protect us. O my people, by going outside Allah's commands you have become a people that oversteps the limits, he says. It overstepped the limits.

If you go on like this, Allah will send you calamity, Allah will send you destruction. Turn back from what you are doing, this is an ugly thing; although he said this, they (?) Lot.

Allah does not love peoples who overstep the limits. He surely sends them calamities on earth. O my people, I am a messenger Allah has sent to you. I am tasked with the right path for you and with making Allah's commands known to you. That peoples on earth who overstepped the limits were destroyed by Allah Almighty, you have heard. Now do you want this destruction to befall you? You want it; sir, would you want it to befall you, he says. In this way Lot (peace be upon him) gave his people advice and counsel.

Sadly, the advice and counsel given in people's favour, and it is always like this, that is, of course, people's destinies; when people are invited to Allah's ways, when the right and the truth are spoken, the human nafs does not stop satisfying its own desires, and against those who speak the truth, who speak what is right, it takes a stand; with the nafs it works together with Satan. And Satan is man's enemy anyway. In this case a person turns his back on the truth and takes a stand against Allah's verses. Sadly, the advice and counsel given in people's (?) weigh heavily on their nafs. Without giving up what they themselves think, they do not listen to people who give advice and counsel.

Therefore these people think, in their own minds, that they are doing right. Since they enjoy the evil deeds they do, evil deeds, since they are men of the same mindset, they cannot give up the ways of evil and filth. Same mind, same mindset, same people. Low and (?).

People who do these evil deeds, to their own nafs and since they are on the path of their filth, of these filthy ones the filth, declaring that they are on their ancestors' path, attributing what they do to their ancestors: if they had not done right, us, we from these behaviours of ours (?) they would say. Us; their ancestors from their ancestors, likewise in them too there is corruption. How beautifully Allah Almighty puts it: even if the ancestors knew nothing, still, He says, will you follow the same path, will you never use your reason, He says. Yes, what does it say: declaring that those filthy ones are on their ancestors' path, attributing their deeds to their ancestors, saying: if they had not done right, from these behaviours of ours they would have stopped us; they knowingly denied the truth.

Instead of saying 'We follow the path of our ancestors', when they saw the truth and reality, why did they not say 'We follow the path Allah has shown'? Yes, why? They did not use their reason. For Allah gave people reason as a knower of what is right. But although reason tells their conscience and their hearts, like a sledgehammer, that Allah's verses are true, from their nafs, Satan deceiving them, along with their carnal desires, from the filth they themselves have committed they cannot break away, so their hearts are scattered and restless. Because reason shows what is right, but man does not give up his nafs. In this case, since he goes the ways of the nafs, his life on those swampy paths, always outside the truth, and his reason telling his heart and conscience that what he does is wrong: contradictions begin within the person.

That is why Allah Almighty says that in this state their hearts are scattered and restless. Because in their aims, since they deny Allah, since they are in rebellion against Allah, Allah's words do not please them. So when a caller to Allah and to the right path comes to these (?) people, such people join together in evil and, all together, the one calling to the Truth they either deny or kill. Because this behaviour of theirs, being of the same mindset as their ancestors, they see as an inheritance left to them by their ancestors. Yes. An inheritance.
