Al-A'raf 85: To Madyan, (We have sent) their brother Jethro (Shuayb). He said, “Oh my nation! Worship Allah. You have no deity other than Allah. A clear proof came to you from your Lord. Now hold the scale properly, do not withhold from people their possessions. After its correction, do not commit mischief on earth. If you are among the believers, these are better for you.”

To Madyan, (We have sent) their brother Jethro (Shuayb). He said, “Oh my nation! Worship Allah. You have no deity other than Allah. A clear proof came to you from your Lord. Now hold the scale properly, do not withhold from people their possessions. After its correction, do not commit mischief on earth. If you are among the believers, these are better for you.”

Tafsir

Median is the name of the son of Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm'. His descendants were called the tribe of Median and the city where this tribe resided was called the city of Median. This city was located on the Red Sea coast between Palestine and Hijaz.

Shu'ayb 'alaihis-salâm' was sent as a Prophet to these Median people. In time, they, too, lost their way. They started to worship idols by following Satan and their ego, and they started to create corruption in the earth by disobeying the command of Allah. Shu'ayb 'alaihis-salâm', as a Prophet who came out of the people of this tribe, addressed his people and said: "O my people! Serve Allah, you have no god but Him. There has come to you a clear proof from your Lord." This is because he publicly declared that he was a Prophet sent by Allah Himself. (So, make the measuring and weighing exact, and do not give people's goods incomplete. At the same time, keep the scales precisely and do not give them short of their goods. These are your brothers and sisters. Do not cheat them. He said, "Do not take people's rights upon yourselves.

(Do not make corruption in the earth after He has corrected it.) Again, Hazrat Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) continued to tell them the Verses of Allah, saying: "You have seen how the people perished because they did not recognize Allah and followed Satan, worshipped idols, went beyond the limits in immorality, and denied the Verses of Allah. Allah wiped them off the face of the earth, and in the eternal abode, the Hereafter, they were unjust to their souls. O people! Allah has replaced these tribes with you. Now if you follow the path of those people who perished, you too will suffer the same fate. By bringing you in their place, Allah has removed disbelief and made things right. He said, "Are you going to make corruption in the earth again?

(This is better for you if you are believers.) That is, if you believe in Allah, Allah is with you in this world and He is your helper in the Hereafter. He said, 'If you keep what Allah says, it is better for you.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-A'raf, verse 85: And to Midian, their brother Shu'ayb we sent. To the people of Midian. He said: O my people, worship Allah. You have no god other than Him. A clear proof has come to you from your Lord. So give full measure and weight. Do not short people of their goods. Do not spread corruption on earth after it has been set right. If you are believers, this is better for you. says Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) to the people of Midian. Allah Almighty does not want any of the servants He has created to suffer punishment. Above all, He does not want people, through injustice toward one another, to go after each other's rights.

So Allah Almighty makes His justice, His sharia ruling, known to people. His justice and His sharia ruling. If He had not made it known, would they not say: Allah created people, yet for dealing justly among these people He sent no law? They would say. They would say. So no one will be able to ascribe a deficient attribute to Allah Almighty. No one will be able to call Him to account. Because the answers to all questions that could be asked, through verses, (?). Yes.

Midian is the name of a son of Abraham (peace be upon him). Midian. It is the name of a son of Abraham (peace be upon him). From his descendants came the tribe of Midian, and the city where this tribe lived was also called the city of Midian. This city lay between Palestine and the Hijaz, on the Red Sea coast. The Red Sea, between Palestine and the Red Sea (?), it lay. Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) was sent as a prophet to these people of Midian.

They too, in time, went astray. Satan and the nafs (?), they began to worship idols and, acting contrary to Allah's command, to stir up corruption on the earth. Shu'ayb (peace be upon him), as a prophet who came from among the nation of this people, addressing his people: O my people, worship Allah. There is no god but Allah. All created beings are servants Allah created. So, the servants Allah created: if you leave the Creator and turn to the created, if you do not listen to the Creator's command and act by your own minds, surely these worlds are not without purpose. Allah is aware at every moment of what is done in this universe. So did you think He would leave you to roam unchecked?

Surely, where your mind falls short, He will show you the way. Who shows it? If you do not follow the way He shows, if you do not do what He says, then just as, if you break the laws of a state, they will put you in prison, so Allah too will surely (?) punish you. Yes. O my people! Worship Allah. You have no god other than Him. A clear proof has come to you from your Lord. He says this because he is a prophet sent directly by Allah, and he declares this to people openly.

So give full measure and weight. His saying 'do not short people of their goods' means: do not exceed the bounds in measuring, think of Allah's favor upon you and give thanks to Allah. This people, when measuring, weighed fully when buying and short when selling. When someone left something in trust, they would not return it to its owner but try to keep it for themselves. Yes.

Think of Allah's favor upon you and give thanks to Allah. At the same time keep the scales true, do not short people of their goods. They too are your brothers. Do not deceive them, do not take people's rights for yourselves, he said. Do not spread corruption on earth after it has been set right. Again Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) goes on telling them Allah's verses. How people did not know Allah and (?) worshipped idols, in immorality overstepped the bounds, denied Allah's verses, and how as a result they were destroyed, you have seen, he says. He tells them about the destructions. Well,

Just as Allah wiped these peoples off the face of the earth, so too in the hereafter, their eternal abode, they wronged their own souls. O people! Allah brought you in the place of these peoples. Now if you too take the path of that destroyed people, you too will meet the same fate. By bringing you in their place, Allah removed disbelief and set things right. That is, after setting it right, that is, after removing those people of disbelief, even though He brought you in their place as knowers of the truth, do not you too follow the trail of the old ones, the forefathers, he says. Yes. By bringing you in their place, Allah removed disbelief and set things right.

Now why would you spread corruption on earth again? he said. Shu'ayb (peace be upon him), to the people of Midian. That is how he answers. If you are believers, this is better for you. That is, Allah's commands are better for you. That is, if you believe in Allah, Allah is both with you in your worldly life and your helper in the hereafter. If you want what Allah says, this is better for you, he said. Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) addressed his people.
