Translation

Most of them do not keep their words (according to the covenant that they have made by denying their Lord in the first creation). Verily, most of them are great sinners.

Tafsir

Allah (swt) says that We know those people who are rebellious against Allah, and those who write their covenant badly. Because We have given them their desires as fate, and their nature is denial. That is why they are not faithful to their promises. If a person makes a promise and does not keep it, he has the signs of hypocrisy. It is a person who has accepted the insults that will be done to him in advance, and they have no veil of modesty, they have no honor and dignity.

(Indeed, most of them are transgressors.) Allah (swt) declares that these people are liars and talkers, and that they are the ones who spread mischief. By cutting the roots of such people, Allah (swt) gives life in this world to the people who will come after them.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-A'raf, verse 102 – we have come to it. 'Most of them, at the address Elestü bi Rabbiküm, since they made the covenant denying their Lord, are liars.' 'They are lying disbelievers,' Allah Almighty says, you see. 'They do not keep their word. The truth is that most of them are fasiq,' it says. Yes, at that address Elestü bi Rabbiküm, not knowing Allah Almighty as Allah, waiting for the Lord of their own imaginations, people – out of nafs, pride and arrogance, seeing our Lord in the attribute of essence, since He resembled man, not recognizing Him as Creator, being proud toward Him, because they waited for the Lord of their own imaginations, they do not carry out the command of Allah Almighty. In this case, since pride and arrogance, selfhood, grandeur, every kind of whim, evil whims are in them as character, since they had already earlier denied Allah, they are liars. These people, those who rebel against Allah, those who had their covenant written badly – Allah Almighty says, 'We know them.' According to what? 'Most of them are fasiq,' it says.

Yes. Because We gave them their desires as destiny. Not keeping their word is in their nature. In his words, he gives someone his word but does not keep it. You hand someone something in trust; unless you stand over him, he will not give that trust back to you. In this case these are truly fasiq people who spread corruption on earth.

For this reason they do not show faithfulness to their word. A person who gives his word and does not keep it has the signs of hypocrisy in him. They are people who have accepted beforehand the insults to be done to them. Just as they have no veil of modesty, they have no honor or dignity either. The signs of a hypocrite are three. If all three are found together, this person is a hypocrite. All three must be together. He is a liar. This person does not keep his word. Well, that is, he shows no loyalty to his pledge. He does not keep his word. When something is entrusted to him, he denies it. If these three signs are found in a person, he is a hypocrite.

What was it? He lies, he does not keep his word, he betrays the trust given to him. He betrays the trust. If these three traits are found in a person, this person is a hypocrite. But there is lying, there is betrayal of trust, yet he shows faithfulness to his word – close to hypocrisy, but not a hypocrite.

Well, he does not show faithfulness to his word, but with the trust given, faithfully, well, with obedience, that is, with trust, to that person he tries to hand it over. This one too, even if he lies, is still not a hypocrite, but he is of course equipped with some traits, bad traits. In fact, one must abandon all three of these traits. You will neither lie, nor betray a trust, nor fail to keep your word. If you gave someone your word, you will fulfill it. One of the main traits of believers is that they strictly honor the words they give. A hadith also says this: 'If you gave a believer your word, be sure to fulfill it.' Because that believer trusts the other person and with faithfulness expects that word to be fulfilled.

And if he himself gave his word, he never forgets it; human nature aside, he surely fulfills it (?). Yes. The truth is that most of them are fasiq. Allah Almighty declares that these people are liars and carry tales, that they are people who drown everything in corruption.

Whom do we call these fasiq? Fasiq – we call one who gossips and backbites a fasiq. Allah Almighty in His verse also addresses the backbiter like this:

'Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother?' 'Whoever backbites is as if he has eaten the flesh of his dead brother,' it says. In this regard they tell a narration – a narration. One of the Companions backbites someone – I don't believe it, of course; this is a narration. Well, they wrote it like that, of course. And because it fits the verse – it fits the verse, but I don't suppose the Companions would do such a thing, of course. Because the Companions – what does the Prophet say? 'My Companions are like the stars in the sky. Whichever of them you follow, you will find the truth,' he says.

So I don't suppose the Companions would do that, but since its other parts fit the verse, I tell it as a moral from a story. Well,

the other goes up to him: 'You backbit; I will tell the Prophet about you,' he says. They come to the Prophet. 'This one,' he says, 'backbit about so-and-so like this,' he says. 'Is that so?' he says. '(?) yes,' he says. 'I did say it,' he says. 'Spit, let's see,' he says. He spits. A piece of meat falls from his mouth. Now, because this part fits the verse, I tell it as a moral from a story. 'Would you like to eat the flesh of a dead brother of yours?' it says. 'Now you are disgusted, aren't you?' Allah Almighty says. Backbiting is this bad. And Allah Almighty, in a verse of His, says to you, 'a fasiq'. Fasiq – He calls him a fasiq.

'If a fasiq brings you a word,' it says, 'until you believe it is true, that is, until you learn whether it is true, do not believe that person,' it says. Until you learn whether it is true. Yes. Being fasiq is this bad. The truth is that most of them are fasiq. Allah Almighty declares that these people are liars and carry tales, that they are people who drown everything in corruption. Allah Almighty cut off the roots of such people and to those who would come after them in the world gave life. He tells why He destroyed those people He destroyed. 'They were fasiq people anyway,' He says. That is, people who drowned everything in corruption, people who would not listen to reason.

How do you know? Allah Almighty – according to Surah Al-A'raf, verse 172 – since at the address 'Elestü bi Rabbiküm', when He made the covenant with people, He gave everyone's wishes and deeds, their intent, as destiny; our Lord – 'there is not a single living being to come until the Day of Judgment of whom We do not know what he will not do,' according to that verse – since He of course knows the secrets of all their hearts, to us, with His verses, to them – what kind of people they are, and at the same time to us, them, since He destroyed them, as an example to learn from, He tries to show. Our Lord shows us the way.

Yes.
